Seriously I miss when monsters were something people feared instead of wondering when they will put a saddle on it.

I'd rather they add flying mounts only.....if they don't? forums will become 'why can't <insert flightless mount> fly, it's no fair, I spent time getting a mount I knew couldn't fly...AND IT CAN'T FLY!'

There is actually a real Japanese proverb about tigers with wings, so be careful what you wish for :D

I apologize for not fearing an unrealistic tiger in a video game.

I don't trust SE to implement this without giving into the demands of some players and adding wings onto it, but otherwise +1.

I mean on the other hand, at least pertaining to the tank achievement mounts.

I'd much rather have a mount drop from The Good King. We need a mount where moogles cart us around. Would have been great to use while doing those Moogle quest. It could be like the bomb mount but with moogles!

Yes, there has ever been a point in Final Fantasy XIV where I feared a single enemy in this game, ever. Seriously, man? This time never existed. I knew friends that wanted a drake mount as soon as they encountered the enemies in 2.0 vanilla.

They're making tortoise able to fly, who cares anymore about realistic flying mounts, it doesn't matter if it's a tiger, a bear or a lamp anymore.

And that's one of the reasons why FFXIV is a pretty weak Final Fantasy title
Remember in FF games you'd dread random encounters or enemies targetting you? Well not in FFXIV, enemies may as well not even exist.
The excuse "it's an MMO" doesn't work either. It's a numbered Final Fantasy title, it will be judged like a numbered Final Fantasy title.
Also, XI's enemies are still dangerous.

huh? what FF titles were trash actually a threat besides XI? Besides a few unique trash mobs (tonberries/greater marlboro,etc), most trash was hardly a threat, heck only reason i bothered to even fight them was for the xp, otherwise I would of just run from every battle.

FF1 - Trash is only a threat due to lack of save points, and ways to restore hp/mp

I kinda want a phoenix mount, I'm actually surprised they havent done such yet, could of seen that slammed into the mogstation. >.<

Wonder if this thread helped implement the tiger mount. Saw someone with this mount in Eureka. Reminded me of this post. 2,000 S-ranks 5,000 A-ranks has to make this the rarest mount ever.

A nice mount but not possible for most casuals to get like those raid mounts. I'm just glad it's extremely rare as I don't have to see it all the time making me envious. Only seen it once so far and was probably a dedicated hunter as he looked to be camping in a random zone I ran through.

Raid mounts you can get once you are able to go in and unsync steamroll the content. At the end of HW, people were frequently doing A4S Gobwalker mount farms, and I joined in on a few for glamour last patch. And, from what I heard, Neo was falling over in i370 so he’d definitely roll in i400, even for softcore players. Come 5.0, anyone would be able to get the Danger Noodle.

So, actually, the raid mounts are easier to get than the Tiger, and more people have them—I believe 22% of the playerbase owned Air Force right before Sigmascape was over, according to the Minion webpage. Meanwhile, the Tiger is less than 1% even now.

I started playing a few months before this thread and I’m less than 40 S rank kills from this mount. Consider that I didn’t even know what a S rank was until I had been playing for 3-4 months...it’s reasonably doable.

Now if there’s a reward for having both 10k A rank and 5k S rank kills? Feel free to reeeeeee.

Were you online everyday most of the time? I thought S ranks were rare and can't spam it so would take a year or so to finish. I suppose it is way easier than HNM contested drops during 75 cap in FF11.

Nope. In fact, I didn’t play at all during the entirety of 3.1, and I’ve had several weeks where I’ve had to make road trips for work.

There’s almost always a S rank or two that can be spawned. Some are far more annoying than others. Some days they are all dead. Other days (albeit rarely) you can end up licking out and get double digit kills.

Keep a hunt tracker up on second monitor or your phone (although the former is ideal if you’re on PC).

This one, the Astrope and I think the PVP Feast mounts are the rarest.
