Make Achievement points matter!

I think Achievement points are under-utilized just like minions once were before path 3.1. I propose that every X amount of achievement points grant one skill point. The requirement amount of achievements to receive a skill point will scale up.
For example: 1 skill point -= 200 achieve points, subsequent skill point cost 250 achievement points. I think implemented this system will make players want to play more to earn more achievement points to progress their characters.

Doesn't even have to skill points. Could be items for glamours or minions. I think it's a good idea to have something for them though as they are a bit redundant at the moment.

They could make an achievement out of getting so many achievement points.

This guy gets it. The final achievement could even be like... 10k achievement points! What more motivation do you need?

A system like guild wars 2, for the achievements i mean, would be really cool.

Glamour items and other prizes.

Skill points will just force me to do achievements and I have a strong dislike for achievement hunting, as do many others. Glamours, minions, mounts, housing items and other optional things? Sure.

What if you could convert your achievement score into Crysta which the player can use for cash shop items, server transfers, name changes, or cover another subscription for a month?

Glamour is nice but I'll even take food or materia as rewards. Just something for a reward that will turn me into an achievement hunter. Food would be a good idea in my opinion since it does get pricy sometimes for raiding

Okay... this thread again? While I think achievement points should stay superfluous, maybe even outright removed (really, what was the point of the points?), I guess doing something with them like glamour-bait items isn't too far-fetched. Something akin to XI's merits or Crysta, though, is too much. Merits would allow achievement hunters to outpace most other players and damage game balance. And Crysta is real money just under a different name, that's never proper no matter how you spin it. Not even Eve does this (someone has to buy the PLEX before it can enter circulation so it's not free by any means) and they set the standard on the process.

Gimme the glamours.

I wouldn't mind glamors and other things like cool mounts or even wings to allow you to fly. Like fire wings or even a Goblin Jetpack... Skill points will just make people salty and Ive seen this before on DCUO... On DCUO all you needed were 125 skill points so you can get all crits and some other stats. But the player base would get really salty if you had less then 185 skill points even though it barely put a dent in your over all performance. No thanks on skill points but glamors or mounts would be nice.

i'd be fine with just a right click > view/compare achievements. I like being nosy. And it'd help with with forming a farm party.

I wouldn't be opposed to there being exclusive rewards - such as minions, titles and glamour options - for those who reach specific milestones.

How about being able to buy stuff from the cash shop with them? >.> You know, minions, dyes, outfits, mounts....... >.>

We have that already.
Like complete all relic weapons (ilevel 80) to earn a title.

Skill points, just no.

That would essentially put all the easy-but-tedious achievements on a list of must-have, like crafting all the various level brackets on all crafting classes for several hundred achievement points etc.

I still don't get the whole title thing... "Ooooooh ooooh look at me I have "Z" over my head" seriously though nobody really seems to care about a silly title.... I rather have a sweet glamor that puts a huge toosh on my character then a few letters over my head.

I agree with majority. Skill points - nope. Would force people to farm them to gain stats.

A good idea if for glam glam items, mounts, hair, minions and furniture perhaps? Optional stuff.

Never understood why we still have achievement points without an actual reward. Make a shop where we can unlock glamour things with achievement points.

Because the concept was that achievement hunters wanted a way to represent their progress in some fashion, and so achievement points became a thing. I honestly have no clue why you'd want rewards for it, if you're an achievement hunter don't you do it for the satisfaction? Regardless, a mount or minion wouldn't hurt anyone I guess.

And name the overarching achievement achieved achievement "Final Fantasy". Because it's final, and reaching it would be a fantasy for most of the player base.

No we don't have that.
What you are talking about is getting titles or glamours for doing specific achievements.
What this thread is about is getting rewards for reaching a specific number of achievement points.
For example, you get minion X for having 1000 points and special mount Y for making it to 8000 points and so on.

On one hand - of course not.

On the other though - if they can clearly assign resources to creating cash-shop-only items in a game that's not F2P, I would expect them to do this. It's not like achievement points are infinite anyway, they could easily set a price which would only ever allow one or two items to be bought over the course of years.

Minions, mounts and glamours ^^. It would be nice to have a mount for a massive amount of achievement points :).

Absolutely no! Achievement points should be just that, achievement points. Something extra challenging to do if you feel like it. Many of them already give titles, glamour items, minions and mounts, too! No need to make that silly stuff matter any more than that.

Leave them as they are. You already get different glamours and minions/mounts for individual achievements. They are supposed to be a personal score system where you can compare and compete with other people, that is enough. If you make it so a certain amount of achievement points give you a reward, you will force other players to do it too and it becomes a grind, as opposed to a healthy competition. And also, do we really need this mindset of "I have that many points of something, I want something in return"? Do you really want even more grind? Achievement of achievement much?

Ughh, god forbid if we earn anything for using achievement points would be bad. Oh no, achievements are gonna become a chore now even though you unlock them by simply "PLAYING THE GAME". I swear I hear the most stupid complaint responses when it comes to innovative ideas. Even if I don't agree with the skill point buying (because people complain to damn much about BiS and that other bs mentality), using the achievement points to buy rare gear and items would be alot more rewarding and it can encourage a player to continue playing as you progress maybe even giving you experience buffs for those who don't have a FC. Skill points would be pretty sick though, it'd make doing all these other things a bit more worth while. People are just too damn lazy and proud of what they have now to give this game an opportunity to be more than what it is. Be open minded people, if we have these points its best to make use of it.

Let's say 5,000 AP gets you a 10% EXP buff. You now have people in a FC getting a FC EXP buff and AP EXP buff. So people without a FC are still missing out. Or does this buff replace the FC one? So people who chose to be in a FC just get left out and forgotten?

Skill points is terrible. AP should not be required for top tier progression. (Yes, it would be. Pushing max stats and gear is crucial)

I thought about that and thought it'd be a better idea to just have a permanent exp boost for one class of your choice using AP. Though the thing about AP is that you can't gain more doing the same thing, so players will have a chance to actually make more personalization traits. And of course I thought about that as well, we need better stats for everything blah blah, just about everything in endgame just has you following patterns and memorizing them and rarely does dps races mean anything when the entire party been through the fight and learned everything about it. If people weren't so scared of being to weak in a game that has you relying on your party for everything, the possibilities of character builds would be immense.

Please don't bring in a skill point system. That was terrible in dcuo.

This will only promote a huge wave of Nothern Thanalan and other type of botters, because the game has poorly designed achievements like for 10k FATEs which are not really achievable in any natural way. You can probably level all jobs 1->60 purely on FATEs and it'll still take less than 2k.
Achievement hunters have xivpads.com to compare their... achievements... and let's leave it like that.
