[Suggestion] How the Diadem should be working!

Hello!

Yes, there has been a spam of threads regarding the diadem lately. All of them are rooted in the fact that no, the diadem does not work the way it is now. The system is flawed at best and does not provide the change and freedom that people were hoping for.


Not taking the credit but I spoke tom my OH and she came up with these (in my opinion) great settings for the difficulty levels of the diadem. I believe they would make it more attractive for many people while giving others the challenge they are looking for:

1 - Easy Mode: only 16 people can go there max, monsters are easy to kill, hide works on DoL, no attuning required, objectives take more kills/gather to complete but give the same esos

2 - Normal Mode: 24 people can go there, monsters are a notch above easy, hide works on DoL, attune to aetherites ONCE, normal objectives to get esos

3 - Hard mode: 72 people, monsters are the same they are now, hide does NOT work on DoL and there are no gathering nodes, attune each time you enter, objectives are the same as normal mode.

General Rules:
- Loot from battle chests can only be rolled on if you participated in the fight
- DoL chests stay with the DoL that finds it and no rolls take place.

I like it, but what if a DoL chest drops and a DoM/DoW changes class, so they can press need/greed on it? Wont this issue not make your general rules, pointless?

The only one that would get the chest is the DoL that finds it so no other person can roll on it.

For Easy: Why lower the amount of players? Is there any particular reason or is it just the "less people = easier content" sort of deal. Is the only reason why Easy provides the same amount of esoterics is because then why would you go into it? I'm also assuming the monster spawns aren't changing, correct?

For Normal: Again, why lower the amount of players? Why attune to aetherite at all of you only have to do it once, but must continue to do it every time you enter in Hard? Overall you should either have aetherites attunment in all modes, or not at all. More to do with hard, but if the objectives are harder than they are in normal then why doesn't Normal provide more esoterics?

For Hard: Why make Hide work for DoL but then remove gathering nodes? Wouldn't be pointless? This may just need explaination on what gathering nodes are because I was under the impression that a node was a thing that you click and get loot out of. Does the Daidem provide spawnable chests randomly for gathering loot then? Why is there a scaling difficulty in objectives for easy and normal, but for hard? Shouldn't Hard's objectives be more difficult to do but provide the most esoterics, especially since it requires going in with a FC?

General Rules: I get that this is a rule primarily to avoid the whole "leechers" issue, so no real questions here.

For Easy: There is simply no need for 72 people on easy if the mobs and spawn were to be adjusted. The whole idea is to give easy to people that just want a change/gather. Meaning less monsters, less respawn, less HP, less attack.

For normal: The idea here is to have a more scaling content. As having to attune makes it more difficult, attuning would be necessary once at least. On the number of esoterics, either it provides the same or more, I am flexible there.

For hard: I think you misread, stealth would not work on hard mode as there would be no gathering nodes. Hence, no need. For the Esoterics, it could be more, of course. However, the main objective of the diadem is not esoterics afaik. Hence they are more like an added bonus.

A node is a spot a DoL can access to get materials like wood, ores, etc. Sometimes gathering on a node will uncover a Treasure Chest.

I think for hard max should be lower than 72, if people want the "everyone Dino" strategy, it won't fix the problem of not being able to claim (too low % damage unless you got first claim) and SMN/SCH dots not staying at all (it's more critical on SMN since Fester depends on it).

That or they have to make it so its more attractive to not stack with 9 parties.

They could make it so HP scales with the amount of people who cleared mobs nearby last, like FATEs. This would discourage heavy stacking since mobs wouldn't die that faster. Then people might go for other hunting spots, eventually getting an equilibrium of 2-3 groups per spot, rather than all 9 in the same.

'Cause it's not like pug DoLs roll on all the DoM/DoW gear...

Tbh, I think bronze and silver coffers should drop i150 and i180 gear for DoL too (maybe DoH too?). DoW/DoM have so many ways to gear up now and DoL/DoH only really have their scrips.

For normal: But attuning once is not difficult at all, unless they change it to require a good 30 minutes and involves fighting a large boss monster or something. Like I said, having flying attunment be a 1 and done thing just seems like an unnecessary step if I only have to do it once and never again in my life. Especially if Hard makes me have to do it every time.

For hard: I think I am misunderstanding, at least in regards to gatherers. If there are no gathering nodes, then gatherers simply don't do Hard. Am I understanding this correctly?

Already happens, a I mob gives less chance for silver or gold than a III mob.

Not lots of people going on Diadem easy for the 'better loot'. I'm personally going to get eso, and the achievement (do 100x easy, 100x normal 100x hard), or I would only do normal.

Barring a few notable exceptions (debuff caps, Disciples of the Land and War/Magic being awkwardly forced together into content that provides very few opportunities for them to work well together), Diadem works fine. It's just not engaging or interesting.

I'm not sure any of these proposed changes would really do anything to "provide the change and freedom that people were hoping for". There's nothing about them that would make groups do anything other than find the most efficient place to grind mobs, land there, and stay there until the instance timer expires.

What Diadem needs is things that make moving around more efficient than sitting in one spot and killing the same 2-4 mob types repeatedly for the entire instance.

A few examples of ways to do that:

- Add FATEs, or FATE-like events, that can spawn all around the instance. Have varied conditions and scenarios, possibly (finally) including varieties of FATEs that would let DoL participate. Have them reward multiple gold chests and/or steel spoils.

- Given mobs varied spawn locations, both per island and across the instance. Currently you can pinpoint within about a 15-yalm range exactly where every mob will spawn, and what it will be.

- Add locations where there's motivation for Disciples of the Land and War/Magic to work together. Have a higher density of node spawns, but with multiple, weak mob spawns nearby, so that the DoL can get items faster, but only if they have DoW/M there to protect them.

- Add rare nodes and rare mobs deep within the cave systems, making fighting through them to reach the deeper areas worth doing.
