I can't post in general? Or anywhere else until my character is high enough level? And then only one post as day??? This is BS. To treat paying customers like this is unacceptable.

Actually, your subscription only pays for your access to the game itself, it does not entitle you to post as much as you like on a forum that Square Enix owns (and it especially does not entitle you to come here and start ranting and raving about it). This forum is not a fansite, it's owned by SE, they can implement and enforce whatever restrictions they feel like.
The posting restrictions were only added because of the ridiculous spamming going on in the old Beta forum when the game was still in it's testing phase - so really, blame other players for this, not SE. Just level up in game a bit more and the forum will become more accessible to you (the forum restrictions are stated in this official thread here.)
you have made 2 threads, both are pretty negative.
maybe its a good thing you're limited in what you can post :D
Hey Boris, welcome to the game. ^_^
The level limit is in place to reduce spam. The majority of forums on the internet have some kind of anti-spam limits in place that require users to have a certain post count in the allowed forums, or in this case a certain level, before they can post anywhere. There are people out there that have no intentions of playing the game and would come into the forums that contain more vital information and threads and post spam. As for 1 post a day, that is not true. The daily post limit ranges from 3 to 20. 20 if you have a level 50 character. Leveling is fast in this game. You can get from 1 to 30 within 1 day of play.
I still think it's incredibly limited to never allow anyone to post more than 20 times per day...
I hit that limit pretty much everyday, and because of it I ended up often not even answering people's questions or requests for help simply because I soon wouldn't be able to participate in a discussion I care about if I wasted posts on actually HELPING others..*grumble*
Same with thanking someone. Do I reply with my thanks to someone who answered my question, or who said something really nice about me/the type of class I play/etc.? But if I do, I'll run out of posts per day, so I don't. Lovely.
This is not the beta forum, SE should let up on the restrictions a bit already.
To be fair, I felt the same way at first. When I first tried to join the game I was having problems and searching the forums wasn't helping. Not being able to make new posts really bothered me. Then when I tried to ask questions in the Lore section (I like to RP, so knowing the lore is important for me), I found I wasn't able to do anything. It discouraged me so much that I barely post on the forums at all, and usually I love to look through forums on games.
it is a tad annoying i agree, but it makes sense when people explain it on the SPAM end, its an amazing game and fun to play though so im looking forward to it.
And the restrictions made sense for the beta forums. The game's no longer in beta now, though. Now, everyone with an active account (and certainly anyone over level 20) has to have purchased the game. I could see limiting Free Trial members who haven't bought the game to only posting in the New Player and Technical Support forums. But for people who have, the restrictions seem a bit excessive.
New Players have no reason to post anywhere else other than the New Players section until they have sufficient playtime, including getting to level 30.
Where the problem at?
This attitude (that SE staff no doubt also has with the limitations they've implemented) is pretty much the biggest problem with this forum. There's very little of anything that actually builds any community here.
I much, much prefer the forums of virtually any other game. Unfortunately I don't like those games as much as I like XIV... c'est la vie.
New players generally want to find groups to play with, either FCs or Linkshells. So they get directed to their server's forum. Except of course, they can't actually post there to say what they're looking for. They can still read it, of course, but have to just hope someone will have recently posted something that by pure coincidence happens to match their needs.
New players are creating new characters. For any who are interested in the lore, that's when they'll most want to learn about it, so they can develop their new character around their lore appropriate background. So they go to the Lore forum, to check out.... whatever by pure coincidence happens to be there. Because of course, they can't actually ask any questions at the time they have the most questions to ask.
New players then hit level 15 and the game wants them to join parties for group dungeons. They're asked to fulfill a specific role so they try to learn the basics of how to play that role by going to the forum for it, and find that yet again... they can't actually ask anything.
and so on...
The forums that new players most need end up filled almost exclusively with endgame discussions, because the new players, who should be driving most of the discussion, aren't able to post there.
I noticed this "interesting" feature during the Chaos data centre relocation. As I lost access to my main character, I wasn't able to post anything afterwards and I had several threads going... really annoying when you aren't allowed to express yourself.
It's even worse as it doesn't get much better with additional levels. 20 posts a day? That might work for a forum casual... for most posters it's joke. Especially when sometimes the queues are long, or you don't have access to the computer, or simple you want to socialize on forums, just to hit the daily cap.
I am surprised that there are no riots regarding this, as this cap is too easily reached. Maybe we should start complaining more? Common SE give us at least 100 posts a day... please. :(
(And now I have lost another post token for today >.<)
I'm new to this game but have played other MMOs in the past and have never seen a limit on a forum. I've seen having to have 5 posts in the new area to move to other areas of a forum to keep spammers in one spot. Not being able to post on some of the character creation stuff, or talk to people that have been there, done that about how they have macros set up so I can mimic what my end game might be in the early levels kind of sucks. Not to mention, if I can help someone.... I have to think about whether or not to use my post on that. It hinders new players getting help when there's a limit to how many answers each person can give.
