Is the random ability of a diadem piece to have nearly double the sub stat budget of a raid piece intentional? Or is this just a funny glitch in how stats are generated that will be addressed?

Is the random ability of a diadem piece to have nearly double the sub stat budget of a raid piece intentional? Or is this just a funny glitch in how stats are generated that will be addressed?
Unfortunately, it seems intentional.
Does it have anything to do with this?
Apparently those crazy Diadem BRD/MCH pants are fake
even if they are fake it should still be possible to get those
I hadn't seen that piece, fake or otherwise. But I have seen people wearing pieces with high values on four substats.
I was pretty chuffed with my boots, even if the sneaky tank tried to need on them by changing to healer when the loot updated. -_-
Vitality +59
Mind +62
Piety +33
Critical Hit Rate +17
Determination +19
Spell Speed +14
Obviously I'd have preferred Spell Speed to have been added to Crit instead but for my first i210 drop I was pleased.
Why do people bother to go and make fakes like that picture? Does this person want to believe he's got the best gear than anyone else within his own little lie? Just sad if you ask me.
I'm still yet to see any caster 210 drops for me. It's been bard tank healer and monk gear over the past 2 days...
It's not so much intentional as it is possible by design. The intent was not to give specific pieces with specific advantages over raid gear, the intent was to provide content that allows players to farm gear with the possibility of being very fortunate and getting a stellar piece of gear. Of course with the Internet, one person could find a stellar piece of gear, post about it and suddenly everyone assumes that gear such as that drops all the time, when in fact most of the gear is useless.
From what people have said, and how things were explained in patch notes etc, you have pieces of gear for random classes that can have a random selection of primary and secondary stats each of which can have a random + number between1 and whatever the max is. Given those pretty broad ranges, the chances of you getting the specific piece of gear you want are pretty low, and lower still of getting that piece with exactly the right stats and good numbers.
On the flip side, the ilvl alone might make it worthwhile for some players, and if not they can always trade it in.
Aetherial gear have had random secondary stats since 2.0 haven't they?
It just didn't matter before because the gear was such low level anyway.
TBH I haven't seen anything too crazy. Pieces with 4 Sub Stats still seem to have a total stat budget.
The benefit would come from a dual sub stat piece with capped stats that are ideal for the class.
Anything that has super high stats over other 210 gear was a photoshop just to get people to rage.
All aetherial gear has similar stats for their level range
Stats can apparently be absolutely awful too, seen a tank chest i210 drop with just 14 parry n 10 acc.
Indeed, it seems that there's the two i210 job stats that are fixed(?), like Vitality & Mind for healer, then the rest are completely random. You may get no extra stats, or healer pants may get high parry but only 1 (or no) piety.
Everything is random after the main stats, if indeed they are fixed, so you could get BiS but also dozens of high ilevel but statistics poor gear. I find it fun, rather than the "horrifying devaluation" others are decrying.
I hoped that they would implement those gear with even a "3rd random main stat" and the possibility to get ANY secondarty stat, not only the strictly connected to your class, to see more strange things, like an healer with a decent amount of INT, a PLD with far more MP (actually I don't think piety can show on tank gear) or with some Cure power / spellspeed, an overparrying BLM with case of DEX and Parry or a SMN with some STR that mind to autoattack too. (the 3rd main stat shoulden't be as high as the other, halved would be nice)
Instead those gear up to now (and up to me) ar a little... TOO MUCH simply for their Ilv and basic stat, until the last patch they balanced ilv progression making the large raid content drop gear with 10 ilv lower than the endgame raid, but up to now, if you want your truly stonk gear you can just avoid both Alexander and Void Ark, this is mindblowing up to me :/
Ps. also making this gear Convertible woldn't be bad like all the other Aetherial and taking in consideration that more or less you can already convert them to materias exchanging them.
Loving the idea of being able to farm your own stats. SCH you want crit? Well you'll have to kill 10,000 Dinos but by golly you'll have that crit stat you always dreamed of. Just don't ask for it on a Weapon. Ever. We aren't doing that anymore.
This is how it worked previously but isn't how it's working in Diadem; pink 210 Diadem gear can have as much as (from what I've personally seen in game and on Lodestone) 85 extra secondary stat allocations compared to 210 raid and tomestone gear, and this is a significant issue.
People were under the assumption that Diadem could end up BiS simply because stat allocations would be at the same caps but randomized, so you could get lucky and roll a piece with better secondaries. But now even if you got suboptimal secondary allocations, the mere fact you can get 85 or more stats on every piece of gear means you could push close to a 1000 bonus stats compared to previous BiS, and with that much room for error you no longer need ideal rolls on everything.
Plus you can farm Diadem more or less infinitely, meanwhile every other way of gearing to 210 is gated behind significant lockouts either through time investment or skill/luck in landing a spot in a group skilled enough to clear and farm for it.
Are there some examples of items with really high stats? I've seen some with about 200 secondary, which I don't think is that outrageous.
210 Eso/Alex
chest/legs = ~160 secondary stats
head/arms/feet = ~99 secondary stats
accessories = ~74 secondary stats
So it is possible to get higher secondary stats than Eso/Alex, but they seem to be rare, and you have to be extremely lucky to get something that good. My chest piece only has 126 on it, for example, and I think that's more the norm.
My healer boots have +50 Crit, +30 SS, +30 DET, +35 PIE.

Stats weight:
WD: 11.602
DEX: 1.000
DET: 0.140
CRT: 0.224
SS: 0.111
Eso chest => 101 Dex + 66 crit * 0.224 = 115.784
Gordian chest => 101 Dex + 77ss * 0.111 = 109.547
Screenshot Body => 101 Dex + 80 crit * 0.224 + 55 Det * 0.14 = 123.484
Welcome to the brainless game, where you put effort to complete the hardcore game and a mindless farm could drop better gear.
What do players learn? You don't need to improve, you don't need to play good to get gear. Just spam a few abilities, no matters if you die as soon as Brachio cast Meteor, a bit luck and you would get the best gear. Oppresor? Ha, Living liquid? Ha, Manipulator? ha.
Luckily, SE added tomes from savage floors and you can buy the gear. If Savage would have been as Coil, some raiders who cleared savage still haven't their items.
I am not disagree with odd patchs, when non-raiders can get coat and twines to improve their gears because is the same as the raider but 2-3 months after. I am disagree with an effortless dungeon with loots betters than Raids.
SE is encouraging laziness by releasing content like diadem.
Who cares if people are getting God Mode Aetherial gear, but aren't raiding?? Let 'em go into the dungeons and pew pew pew to their heart's content. You or I won't be crossing their paths. If you're a true raider, you raid for the fight. Eff the gear. It's only a means to an end.
Again... if people enjoy doing Diadem and repeatedly pulling a giant lever on the big ol' secondary stat slot machine, let 'em. Who am I to tell somebody how to enjoy a game.
Actually i would suggest only that diadem difficult and loot should be tied. So in easy mode mobs be a little easier and should drop at most Ilvl180 (from starred ones), but lower the minimum for entrace with ilvl 149/150. For normal mode should be the current 179 and drop from starred up to ilvl 210 as now. And for hard mode ilvl199 requeriment for entrace and increase to more challenging mode the monsters and drop pieces from starred up to maybe 220 or 230.
So this way will be a scalar progression with difficult, same lovely farm way but making much harder for get the better pieces but more rewarding effort. Also will help to get much more wide range of players to access it.
Your point of view is fine until you are a raid group, have to search a member lost and what do you find? Players unable to do a good rotation, with random "gold treasure chests" gear.
Then your party is disbanded due lack of raiders. You want to raid and nobody wants. Raids clear percent goes down, more than it's now, and devs choose to do not put effort to do a challenge. The game will become less challenging each time, you don't enjoy to play and you leave the game.
I share your view as well. Most Raiders do so for the challenge and to push the limits of their class, gear is just he icing on the cake and only ends up creating a faster clear.
One thing I do hope for this with the influx of higher tier gear is that those who currently lack the skill to participate in endgame, at least attempt it due to being over geared. By attempting endgame it may inspire some to even attempt to Git Gud
The sad thing is the hardcore dedicated "first clear" groups are going to be farming diadem near 24/7 for god mode gear and whoever wins the slot machines best is likely going to be the ones to get that clear.
At this point the only way to salvage raid gear and make it so raids don't go completely dead in every odd numbered patch is to give them set bonuses or let them meld extra main stat above the normal cap. Diadem gear is ridiculous and it doesn't take that much to see a really insane piece.
I'd like to keep raiding every week for 3.1 but it seems kinda pointless.
