Here we go again!
Makes sense. Can't leave it as a ruin. And we have aethernet now.
I noticed there is a lot of constuction going on on the lower edges, Idyllshire is gonna be massive!
I'll do some comparison screens with my own set tommorow :)
Kind of wish we saw more repairs rather than just some scaffolds set up. Maybe removing some of the rubble on the ground or something? Even small pieces don't seem to have been moved. I'd really love to see Sharlayan when it wasn't a derelict ruin.
I've actually noticed some larger debree near where Rowena has set up is gone.
They are trying to rebuild a city that's been left in ruins for several decades. And with out the magics that were likly used to build it at that. It's going to take a while just go clean up, let alone rebuild. Especially considering they have very limited man/Goblin power to go around.
They'll get there eventually, Moh Dhona developed in a similar way.
Rowena has a tent now >.>
True, but I also wonder if we'll see a rebuilt piece of Sharlayan or a Sharlayan ruin turned into a horrible, monstrous hybrid of Sharlayan and Goblin stuff. No offense to goblins or their fans, but I'd just like to see an actual, in-tact Sharlayan, and a goblin city that is all it's own, before seeing the two slapped together in a horrible Monster of Frankenstein way.
Goblins don't have a city. They don't even have houses. Their packs are their homes that is why the goblins settled in Idyllshire to build a place where they can live. Besides there's intact Sharlayan buildings in the hinterlands. They seam to really like round stuff.
I really can't wait to see how big this place gets, I hope it becomes massive! Really glad to see the changes so far.
While not Idyllshire related, it seems that a small settlement might start appearing in Azys Lla over time. I noticed in a screenshot for the anima quests, Gerolt now has a work shop set up in the circular rings near the aetheryte

Well the Chimerical Gear sold only in Azys Lla nodes look alot like Gerlot's Soldiery gear. Possible he got those design from Allagan Tomestone ... hence why Rowena is so obsessed with them.
But on a serious note, the picture does look like it's been photoshopped
Actually I'd be surprised if no one actually set up shop on Azys Lla apart from the Garleans. The Sons of Saint Coinach would love to research a functional Allagan facility and frankly Azys Lla is literally right up NOAH's ally. I would love to see some side quests with NOAH setting up shop there to try and limit the access the Garleans have.
Noticed this in the patch notes, looks like 2.3 upgrades Idyllshire massively!

Finally! I was disappointed with how little actually changed in 3.1. They didn't even clear up all the rubble! It looks like 3.2 is seeing the timber frames for the new buildings going up though. Hopefully we'll be able to get an idea what the finished structure might look like.
You can slightly see on the left what the new House of Splendors will look like, looks castle-y. I took a quick comparison shot

Here is the current view from that angle:

When I first saw the builders down there in 3.1 I was surprised at the size of what they were building (both on the east and on the west side). I kind of suspected that it would be just background that they were building because I didn't expect Idyllshire to expand that much. That they would rebuild and remove all the rubble, but not add entire areas.
Anyways, looks like the new House of Splendors is taking shape, and whole new buildings have been added on the east side. (Wonder what it is???). And in the above picture you can also see a new building up on that lonely place on the hill (you can play TT there, so maybe it is some kind of bar/eatery?).
I wonder whether the building on the west size has grown this much as well? Looking forward to the 23rd :D
That's a much better picture than mine, lol. I do remember seeing one of the Goblin's talking about a Gobbie Hall, so I wonder if that is what the big new building is?
I really like how the world changes over time. Time to take pics before I forget.
If you look over the edge of the map on the ... east? side (near the retainer bell), you can see several terraced sections of land that are also being built upon. You can look, but you can't go in there yet. They have a road block sign up. Given that they've been adding smaller aetherites to the area, I think it's fair to assume that the Idyllshire expansion will, eventually, be quite substantial.
I thought I'll take picture of the outside, just in case.

I'll admit that the expansions were much larger than I expected! Pherhaps I should have forseen this with the aethernet and allowing us to ride mounts but... it got so large!
And it looks like they are raising at least as much ground again. This makes me so ridiculously excited.
(Also, love the employees who wonder what Rowena has in store for their stand. Voicing our thoughts for us.)
The Goblins are building a Manufactory, ironically inspired by the Inquest. Due to the Inquest pumping out a lot of technological machinery the Idylshire goblins have decided to do the same, though perhaps not as strictly focused on warmachines as the Inquest. That's the gist of what I got from the Goblin at the door.
Idylshire seems to be very much an experiment for the Goblins which makes me wonder how long its been since the goblins congregated enough to have a settlement of city size.
Hmm, I don't know if my mind is playing tricks on me or what, but I barely remember how when we first visited Idyllshire, there was a quest where the goblins were actually having trouble with golems inside the town and asked us to get rid of them. The golems were IIRC part of an old defense system from back when the Sharlayns used to be in the area.
What I'm saying is that it'd be kinda neat that if one day, the Goblins decide they want to try digging a basement below the central structure, and they end up stumbling upon an old dungeon entrance right smack in the middle of Idyllshire instead.
I love this! I love how things change throughout the story! It's so awesome >_>
This would not surprise me considering how bad Sharlyon seems to be about not "Locking Up when they leave".
There's a lot of stuff just lying around for any random nutjob to pick up that could be (and usually is) incredibly dangerous and really should have been destroyed before leaving.
I'm still concerned about Idyllshire... The whole place is just one well placed bomb away from crumbling down to nothing... They actively seem to be fastening new rocks to the side to give them more land to work with... It is an insane settlement... Gobbie "science" has always been fairly volatile... Hope they know what they're doing building a Manufactory there... One bad mistake and the whole settlement could collapse...
For 3.3, can they import some rocks from the Floating City of Nym, or the Sea of Clouds? It would put my mind at ease knowing the city is technically floating, rather than balancing on a needle point...
(anyone else having a hard time getting excited about the city expanding? It's cool and all, just like Revenant's Toll, but when 3.5 comes along and it's finished, we'll be a few months off getting a new hub area and forgetting about it like we have Revenant's Toll... Psst, SE! Add content to Revenant's Toll, the Doman Adventurer's Guild must have more adventures lined up, right?)
What? A few months after 3.5 is likely to be around this time next year. It's only been a few days since 3.2! Let's take one day at a time here, OK?
Actually, I am excited about the city expanding, especially because there seems to be more land there now than before the patch. Revenant's Toll is fantastic, and I'm hoping for more Doman Adventurers' Guild quests, too, but as far as planning the camp's layout, they mostly just filled in the space around the aetheryte. Not so in Idyllshire, where if they need a little extra ground to work with, they apparently make more. Now that's civil engineering!
And just what can we expect? A Goblin laboratory sounds fun. There's that lower level to the west that opened up, and the builder down there has no idea what he's even building yet. And one of the NPCs at the former scrips counter is talking about rumors of stocking up on Garlean goods in the near future. That'd be exciting!
