Imo they seem more clean and stylish, they don't load the screen with orange gigantic circles all over the ground, but that's just me, you can clearly still see the circle it just cleans the codor in the middle to have a better visual appealing and less loaded screen also you can now see multiples aoe withing aoe so that Imo is better than what it was before, if you have problem seen them either get use to it or git gud...
I missed the part about them changing the AOE-indicators in the patch notes (if it was even written down there), but I like them this way. I could swear they used to look like this or more close to this in 2.0 and up to 2.X, or whenever it was they made the AOE-indicators be like they were up until today. So it felt nice to log in and see the new-old-esque AOEs.
"Get use(d) to it or git gud."
Because heaven forbid someone doesn't like a visual change ...
They could just add a toggle option. They didn't add a toggle the first time they changed them though.
I'm sure I'll get used to it so you can park that "git gud" bullshit. Man I hate that phrase. Bulletin - the cool kids have moved on from using that. Time to find another.
Back on topic. When you have a pack of mobs all using AOEs in close quarters, it is now very difficult to tell when you are actually in a target zone. Before, if you were standing in orange, you needed to move.
A little over exaggerated, you still have the visual pulse and enough indicators that show you that you are withing the range aoe even in close range, you are either not visualizing things right or just not putting enough. Effort, itso not different at all just cleaner...
Just roll a couple more dungeon. And you will be back to normal.
Talking about irony....
At no pointment I was being offensive or insulted anyone I simply stated my opinion on the matter and used the "gitgud" as that generally sentence evyone uses to excuse anything on this game using more as a joke rather than an insult. If you got offended by it that's your own business.kinda look up the significance of hypocrisy my friend might help you in the future.
People with red colorblindness have a lot of difficulty with these circles, they're further on the red spectrum than the previous circles.
I like the new AoE indicators. But they should have optional settings for colorblind people. (please don't force overly bright UI colors on non-colorblind people though)
I haven't logged in yet but is there a screen shot of the new system?
I would like an option to change the aoe indicator. Thanks.
Personally, I like the new look. They look clearer and more crisp than they did before. Not sure what the issue is.
The issue is that they were made as they were because disabled people (colour blindness) couldn't see them well in earlier patches. Now they've changed them again which means colour blind people are having problems again. It's not really fair to them to change without warning & with no workaround. It's minimal issue to anyone else but a big problem to some.
If they decide to change it, I would appreciate an option to choose which one I want.
I myself love the new indicators.
Honestly I don't mind the new style though I can see how they would be an issue on visually intensive fights like Bismark EX, some of the Vault fights or Thordan's Reign. Ideally I'd like to see an option to chose between the two models, the one we had prior to 3.1 and the one in 3.1 in the client.
Please NO. The new AOES are much, much better. We don't need regress. At maximum, give an OPTION to use the previous ones. I want mine the way they are now: clean, with better resolution and easier to see.
Well, the patch notes said they were going to be adjusted to more accurately depict the area of an AoE attack. Personally, I don't think that's the best description of the change. This seems to be more of a stylistic difference in how they look than about how accurate their area is (though it may in fact be both for all I can tell).

[2.0] The appearance of action indicators has been adjusted to more accurately display the area of effect for attacks.
No thank you. The aoe indicators looked way sloppy before hand. Now it's much easier to tell when someone's standing in bad.
I dont have have problem with the new ones. They look more stylish now and "cleaner" in a way. A multi option selection would have been nice though.
Just remove any indicator already. its too easy with those.
The issue is primarily in development mentality. Remember that SE is a Japanese company. The most common colorblindness, red-green (the inability to see reds and greens), is only found in 5% of Asian men. This means it carries a much lower priority. That being said, 10% of Caucasian men suffer from it. That's right, 1 in every 10 Caucasian males in NA and EU is red-green colorblind. Game developers have to take this into account when releasing games to western audiences. A significantly large portion of the player base can't see reds and greens.
The new ones are usable for me, but I preferred the previous incarnation. It would have been nice if they made it an option in the config menu.
I find the newer aoe circles difficult to see. Especially if there are a lot of attack animations going off in 24 man content. Please make the old aoe circles a toggle-able option.
I like the new ones better because they fit well into the environment, are less immersion-breaking and also force people to pay more attention than some giant bright-red aoe circle flashing right in everyone's face to the point where you could brain afk and still evade everything.
But I guess a toggle option would be fine so those who absolutely want it back can have it that way...^^°
They are slightly harder to see, and some areas they blend in with the environment. If you dont have other peoples animations turned off in your settings, you will pretty much not be able to see the aoes.
Look, NOBODY is saying that they have to be returned to the previous incarnation, just that they should have been aware of the effect on a part of the community and should have included the option to retain the old style. The old style was introduced to solve a major problem for those with colour blindness, why remove the fix now?
I swear, some people are so damn self important that they just don't care about others being disadvantaged. It's a terrible reflection on gamers.
That's a little condescending :(
Some of us can't have them blend into the environment because then they don't exist at all. That's what being colorblind means. Not all of us brain afk, we depended on the system to be able to function in a team environment. We not only want the old ones back, we NEED the old ones back. Otherwise there's no point in even playing this game when you will be hit by every invisible AoE.
While I agree it came off as somewhat condescending, I can't really fault people, it's not exactly something that's overly taught or anything, a lot of my friends, until I explained to them what it was like, thought "Being colorblind means you see in black and white, right?" -_- for me, I have issue seeing things that are similarly colored on top of each other (yellow on orange, orange on read, so on) individually, I can see colors just fine, until you start layering them. I remember on WoW, my fiance wanted to quest in Felwood when I first started playing, and that zone, man, green smog on green water, green trees, green monsters, it was hell lol
tl;dr most people make the condescending remarks about things like this, not out of arrogance, but because they really just don't know any better

I agree with you but there is a time when the issue has been pointed out so many times that ignorance can't be claimed. By now, everyone in this thread should understand exactly why the new telegraphs are a problem & why they shouldn't have been changed at a whim without the ability to retain for those who need them. BTW, I'm not colour blind but it's taught at schools, or at least was in my time, to ensure that you knew if you had it!
I agree. They are much harder for me to see them now.
