Can't give and my alt character access to my private house

Due to housing tenants being friends only...we can't share our homes with our alts on the same server (since you can't friend them). Is there anyway to fix this to an alt access?

Nope, SE hates alts - can't mail them and can't share a house with them.

they don't want you to, so they won't fix it.

I know a few people that were able to add their alts to their friendlist (yes on same account) due to a bug that existed back near the start of ARR. The bug that allowed this was patched so it's no longer possible to take advantage of it.

I think the fact that some people are able to have their alts on their friendslist and some are not is a little unfair and should either be patched so these players alts are removed from friendlists or make it so everyone can do this.

Of course the players that can do this are never going to report themselves as taking advantage of an exploit because they have a huge convenience that is normally impossible and don't want to lose it.

I just think it should be known that inequality exists and something should be done about it.

Agreed, SE needs to let you share your house with your same-account alt characters.

I can't see why SE haven't thought of this. It would actually alleviate the issue of players buying up housing plots on alts if we were limited to one house per server per account, and all alts on the same server could be easily (if not automatically) listed as tenants in that house. That would have freed up a handful more plots anyway...

SE wants you make your alt on another account...^^;

SE cares very little about this or any other shortcoming related to housing or alt QoL. That much is fairly obvious.

Hey SE! Get this to work or I will buy my alt an own house as soon the new area somewhere around Ishgard opens.

Agreed completely unfair that you can't share with your alts. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to.

Please SE can there please be a way to friend yourself or make it where housing it automatically shared on one account. I want to add my alt to my house :'(

I don't think many people realize how accurate this really is. Your Square Enix account has the capability to branch into multiple "service accounts" on the same SE account. This allows players to have the convenience of only one account to worry about memorizing and utilizing, but allows you to have service accounts you log into that get the same freedoms as separate accounts. The downside of this is that you have to buy twice the registration codes and pay twice the subscription, exactly as if you had two entirely different accounts.

I am also speaking from personal experience about this. I have two service accounts, two subscriptions I have to pay, and need to double-up on purchases to benefit both of them, but it's all under the same SE account. On the plus side, my alts are on my friend lists, I can mail stuff back and forth through them, the house is now shared, and I can even play both at once. If anyone really wants that sort of capability, I suggest they look into it also, because it's extremely unlikely that these intentional systems they put in place will change when there is a potential for profit for leaving them as-is.

I know SE and probably many players look down on alts in general as they prefer that players only have one character. They reason you can do all jobs on one character and if you just want to play a different race do it on that one character. Thus they probably feel the need to have alts as a friend or even share housing shouldn't happen. But this is a game oriented towards RP, so many may have alts as part of their own RP backstory or they just like having alts for a change of pace. It would make it so much better to be able to add alts as friends so each can send needed items without having friends do it for them or having to place items into a FC chest for the other to retrieve. Also there is a real benefit of alts being able to share Chocobo stables etc especially if they aren't in a FC.

I think Neira's solution to have more then one service account requires is good but it requires paying double on a sub when many can barely afford one. And the notion that allowing Alts on the same account helps benefit gill sellers that is a moot point since it sure hasn't prevented them from swamping this game.

question if -private estate access- is "checked", can others come in or not?

I'd really like to see this implemented. As people above have pointed out, it would not only be a huge QoL improvement for players with alt characters but it would help to ease demand for housing.

@Shiroe - if your house is unlocked anyone can enter it but they cannot use summoning bells, the orchestrion, armoire etc.

We should be able to share our homes with anyone we choose , from alts , friends list people and anyone else we see fit.

The restriction to fl only is really bizarre imo. More freedom to choose is a must se.

Mailing to alts and sharing a home with alt would be a nice first step.

Please SE let my alt live in my mains house! And let me finally mail my alt some stuff. :(

I came in here to make a topic like this and here it is. I really would love to have the feature added. I have the gil to buy a house for all 8 alts, but it seems a waste, especially since my house has all the needed features but a MB. It would be helpful.

While we are at it, since private and fc houses cost the same and both have more then one resident.... how about private rooms in personal housing too?

My house is an FC house so I just had another FC member invite my alt to my FC and then gave my alt all housing permissions. I think SE should make houses account bound not character bound and by proxy deal with two issues, first being limiting the amount of houses people can own which should be limited to just one (whether it's an FC or personal one) which would help with the housing shortage a little too, second it would allow for all characters on your account to have access and ownership of that house.

I just moved my alt to Ragnarok (to make the weekly timegates less annoying) and have been wondering about this.

It's kinda stupid that we can share houses with random people, but sharing it with alts is out of question -_-
