Law gear is now officially pointless...

The 2 new dungeons drop i185 gear. Really.

I really like i can trade em now in, freeing um so much inventory space =)

Eso gear is also pointless. You can farm the diadem for i210 BiS gear

Too bad you need i170 to get in those dungeons. Really.

For Alt Jobs, this means selling the ilvl 160 and 170 Gear and start collecting 185. ^^

Not really, you can still have them being BiS and also looks :o

But you NEED Law gear at least to enter those dungeons

I was actually thinking they'd be useless for people with ESO geared characters, but yes I forget they're i170 to enter so you do need Law gear for entry especially if you're new. My bad.

I haven't seen the stats for any of the new gear but to claim gear is best in slot on iL alone is pretty short-sighted. Some of the real hardcore raiders I know even state as much, people who literally used Dreadwyrm pieces as glamour on lower iL gear well before Heavensward launched. I made note of this cause one such real hardcore raider was wearing a Demon Tabard like myself with the Dreadwyrm body glamoured over it. I asked them about it and we were pretty much in agreement on iL and stats. I'm still updating (keeps dropping even though it's trucking along on all cylinders...) but I'll definitely look into this best in slot claim once I'm done, though if all it has is a high iL then no, won't be interested in the slightest.

All gear is pointless over time.

Why is this a problem? Law gear has been pointless ever since you could get i190 from Alex Normal, or i200 from Eso or i210 from Alex Savage.

Good. It's about time dungeon gear was useful, if only a little bit.

It's pretty much been pointless for awhile now except to get fresh 60's into content.

The gear is pointless to you all because you've already outgrown those gears.. it's not pointless for people still gearing up.

Well newbies need to have (a minimum) full Law gear before they can even enter the dungeons, so making the dungeon drops i175 or i180 would be pointless. i185 is perfectly fine.

The new level 60 exploration ventures also require i170, so LAW gear has a use on retainers as well.

We've had no gear updates past esoterics and gordian for 5 months. It's about time we get some gear that's better than the yasha stuff, even if it's only by a slim margin.

Not really, it's a stepping stone for content + those gear are all RNG based so you may or may not get a complete set in a timely manner.

The RNG required is so astronomical I think any rational person wouldn't even hope to get a BiS from Diadem gold chests. Seeing a half dozen 210s drops today, every one of them was worthless. I saw a casting accessory that had 47 Int, 4 accuracy...and nothing else. It's not just the secondaries that are randomized, but also the values of those secondaries. The ones I did see had a sum of secondaries ranging from 4 to mid 50's. None of them have had a sum in the lower 70s, which is what I'd be expecting for anything to be BiS. I'm sure they can and will eventually drop to some lucky people, but I'll just be happily turning them in for spoils

And on topic, I'm still excited about spending my Law on things I can desynth, or the red scrip items to use for crafting better DoH/L gear

You know what is also pointless? Crafted gear. Admittedly, the top-tier HQ crafted gear has always been at least 10 ilvls below the BiS gear if not more...but ilvl185. The top-tier, pain in the arse to make crafted gear....is equal to the dungeon gear. Going to say it since SE won't: SE does not want crafting in this game. Go away crafters. They don't say it, but that's what they want.

In theory. I ran both dungeons and roulette. In those 3 runs, all I got was a freaking caster belt. And I'm still not high enough to take on Void Ark.

That's my number one gripe with this game. 99% of the gear is useless. Right now the only gear worth having is ilvl210. Everything else is wasted space. I've been playing a lot of Diablo 3 recently and their approach to gear is so much better it's ridiculous. Yes stats are important, but mix it up with extra stats, bonuses, etc. Anything!

I love how people are always surprised and upset whenever gear and/or content is phased out in this unceasingly-vertical MMO.

Gear being phased out is understandable. But the best new crafted battle gear was LITERALLY phased out on release; there's no point in even trying to obtain them except for glamour. Desynthesis? Run a dungeon, you'll get gear the same level for far cheaper. Convert to grade V materia (possibly)? Island exploration lets you trade in loot for grade V materia on the cheap. So yeah....useless. GG SE.

Hey man, at least Darklight gear is decent for glamour. The gloves are one my favorite for mages, since they're claw-like and the boots are one of the few heavier-armor sets casters/healers can wear.

They will shorten the ilevel gap between crafted gear and tome gear with 3.2

You really are farming diadem for gear? Poor you.

Useless is entirely subjective here. Darklight/Myth/Ironworks is not useless if you're just starting HW. Vault gear is not useless if you've just hit the Library. Law is not useless if you've just beat HW and are gearing up for some endgame action.

Also yeah, I missed the thrill of looking forward to dungeon loot. Every time I passed on a coffer in Fractal/Reap I think my humanity died a little.

Law gear has been redundant for like two months now, where have you been?

This has always been the case though, gear only lasts a short while until replaced by better gear they implement.
I currently find there is way too much variety out gear wise with no real reason needed. Players have cleared content (and did not get carried) without bis gear...
Anyone recall i90 Gear back in the day, taking weeks just to get a piece and then having an oh so fun time in Titan HM?
So yes not sure why players are so worried about bis gear and what not, just have fun

I got a Bodypiece from Diadem that replaced my 210 Eso from a Chest i found while exploring in my first run so im a lucky person. :D
And no its not that rare to find Gear in Diadem that has way more stats than normal one on same lvl.

Not really.

useless yet, even though people can buy the gear on AH some choose not to, while collecting gear from dungeons law just speeds up the iLvl so people can do the higher runs.

I don't see how it can be replaced.
