We learned that Max Potions and Eithers have been added.
Now here's my question. Do they actually fully restore all HP/MP? What is the recast on these?
I suspect that they're likely locked behind ALC specialist recipes. Which is perfectly fine to me.
How excited are you about this? Do you think Potion Pots will now be mandatory to bring into a raid? Casters, how excited are you for Max Ethers and how would this affect your rotations? Let's not forget about Bard Songs and Tank MP. MP Benedictions for healers as well!
I'm still really suspicious that it restores all HP/MP at all. In a game like this, (considering with how stingy they've been with consumable items until now) I am inclined to believe that this is too good to be true. I really want to believe that it restores all as the name "Max" implies, but a part of me feels that it would only restore 50% at best; but I suppose we will see when the patch goes live tomorrow.
If Max Potion/Ethers are really a thing, how do you think this will affect the game long term down the road?
What would you rather use your potions for? STR/DEX/INT pots or save it for a Max full restore instead?
What're you comments about this?

I would bet it's just a slightly stronger version of X pot/X Ether
Having a full restore pot would be tremendously difficult to balance -

No, they don't restore it all. Description says "restore a considerable amount of MP..."
So we have to wait and see. Probably it won't be that much, considering that Hi Elixir do this:
Restores up to 24% of HP (1120 max)
Restores up to 20% of MP (690 max)
I guess they will be around double that amount. But we'll have to wait and see. -

Which honestly still isn't a good amount, healers will get 1 or 2 extra casts? Maybe. When compared to end game, i would assume the bonus stat to Int/Mnd/Str would be a lot more wanted than a small HP/MP restore.

I think you're reading too much into the name. I mean, in FF games, Elixirs typically give a full HP/MP restore.Quote:

I'm thrilled about the potion adjustments. Alchemy has been a craft with no soul for a long time now because of how few and useless their potions have been. I really hope this turns things around and gives me a reason to keep a supply of potions and ethers on hand.
The descriptions of the max potions and ethers makes me worried though, all the other potions give detailed explanations of what they do in gameplay terms. I worry that max potions aren't actually gameplay potions, but rather just ingredients for other items. When I first read the description for disosolvents I thought they had something to do with helping increase the chances of getting a certain kind of materia from converting gear, but it turns out their descriptions were purely for lore and not gameplay. I worry something similar might be happening here. I hope not though. -

It might break the balance of PvP. Imagine if it heals like 1500 HP. It's gonna be harder to kill someone in Frontline.

The recipe looks to be a no-star recipe (1 and 2 star recipes use clusters), using 3 easy to get existing items as well as a new fish and a botany item likely gathered in Diadem. But based on past experience, they will likely drop from dungeon junk chests and maps.

Stackable. (Think about it...they could put the screws to us here.)
Enough MP to once again easily slip that extra flare in with full stacks at 60. -

The 50 black mage rotation relied on an ether to get another Flare at max potency (you can still do a double Flare at max potency, but not a triple Flare.) Due to the amount of MP restored, even the highest level ether wasn't enough for a Flare cast at 60, though. A Max Ether will potentially put triple Flares back into play.

It should be noted that all existing HP and MP recovery potions have had their effects increased and recast timers decreased.
Potions are now twice as effective with 3/4ths to 2/3rds their former recast times.
Ethers are now ~50% more effective with a 30s shorter recast timers (X-Ethers have a 60s shorter timer)
Elixers follow the Potion's and Ether's effectiveness increases (x2 HP, x1.5 MP) and have lost a minute off their recasts. -

Assuming the HQ get the same boost, all of the old ethers/elixirs still won't give enough MP for a Flare (I think the minimum is 884 MP at 60).
