Gotta say, that armour looks amazing.

Edit: posts on Reddit are saying we only get the armour set, not 100% confirmed but likely.

I knew the event would involve Iroha rather than an older more familiar FFXI character. The armour is nice but, unless you're playing the final Rhapsodies of Vana'diel story in FFXI at the moment Iroha won't make much sense to even old-time FFXI players given the fact she's a new character created especially for that storyline (I really enjoyed the previous FFXI event because my FFXI character was Windurstian and Shantotto was more familar to me). Ah well, this will still be fun to do. :)

It's an event to celebrate the ending of FFXI, which will happen on the 10th or 11th I believe. I'll have to assume they'll make it so that non-FFXI players will understand the story too in this event, or at least I hope they do.

i expected something about Maat /Lion / Prishe / Tenzen / ect ....maybe Shadow Lord involved (SL theme , "awakening" is just awesome!)

So, as far as the weapon goes, is it just a lancer, or will there be something for each Job?

That armor just makes me want Samurai more...

I imagine the entire point of the event is to build interest in XIs current story to maybe get people to check it out. Reminding me of CoP isn't going to get me back, but this could have. I do have some interest in their current story, and this event certainly peaks it, it's just a shame I have no real desire to put myself through XI again... It's very dated and XIV has spoiled me...

I can safely say that I'll be incredibly disappointed if it's just a LNC weapon, I'd love other weapons based off its design or other weapons from FFXI.

But is there any confirmation that weapons are even a reward for this? That blog image just shows a miqo'te and elezen wearing Iroha's custom costume with no visible weapons. Given the fact the previous FFXI event didn't even grant a costume to players as a reward (the reward was a Shantotto minion), I'm liable to think that weapons will still not be a reward for this. May I be proven wrong though! :D

I'm not going to lie. This is making me want to play ffxi again, only to do all the stories. I loved FFXI stories.

Well, the second image shows the weapon in XIV, but I guess it might be unique to her... I kind of expect something on the level of the Lightning Returns event though, which had equipment and weapons for all the Jobs, back then at least. There is certainly no shortage of quality weapon designs from XI that they could port over... After the Wootz/etc. equipment I'm really hoping they give us more old XI gear... Scholar and Summoner would be the only Jobs which don't share a weapon design with XI, but they could easily use XI Scholars Light/Dark Arts books for those though... Heck, that would kinda make me disappointed that Dragoon is getting this lance...

If it is equipment then we it's not too much of a stretch to assume we'll get the weapon, why else would they showcase it?

Is this event only on FFXI or will we get it too?

Surprised it's not Shantotto again. She did say she would come back.

We'll see how it will play out and wether a samurai girl showing up will have a lasting effect.

I'm just scared as this might make me want to play FFXI really bad, but that would end in a financial disaster.

It's an ingame event for FFXIV if that's what you're asking, open up the images.

looks like rhapsodies involves lots of the old characters in the missions (from all the expansions ), thats cool :o , as reward for finishing missions u can view all the Cutscenes of the expansions too

Welp, there go my hopes for Ninja getting any of the weapon designs from XI... Guess I'm still stuck with just Yoshimitsu and Yukimitsu... Those new relics better not disappoint me with another set of daggers, or worse, straight up swords...

I really hope we get weapons, I'd love to see DRK get tenzen's phoenix blade.

FFXI will be doing a free event for returning players and a discount campaign for new players around the same time this is released to coincide with Iroha's story getting its conclusion. This is probably a way to get ffxiv players to want to go back/try it out.

If ever the time to check out XI it is definitely now. With the NPC party system and just how the game's underbelly has changed it's not nearly as much a monster as it was back then. And I say if you have no plans on getting its kin to be made for smartphones then go play it. A wonderful story, music, and experience that wasn't given its due recognition from so many just because of some more archaic mechanics and methods to the game.

I hope this event really goes all out and gets people to really give it a go.

I wouldn't expect too much from this event. I'm glad they're doing it - FFXI has a long and storied history, and it's nice to see it getting its props as it winds down to retirement - but the Rhapsodies story is clearly being done on a shoestring budget. Two of the three new zones added for Rhapsodies are literally greyscale versions of existing zones, for example, and one of the new Prime Avatars, Siren, is so clearly a modified Garuda model that even one of the in-game characters thinks it's Garuda at first blink. I wouldn't expect a whole lot of resources to be spent on the crossover event, either.

The writing for Rhapsodies is a bit weak, too; it's a little too obsessed with its lead character Iroha. She comes from a Bad Future where the world has been all but destroyed - but rather than work toward solving that problem, the player character seems to be spending all their time trying to figure out how to save Iroha. All the world-saving really seems to happen almost accidentally around us. We're seeking out powerful beings; Prime Avatars, Cait Sith, Gra'viton - and when we meet them, do we ask how to save the world? No! We ask how to keep Iroha alive - and then the villian coincidentally shows up and we confront them.

I also wasn't pleased with how they characterized some of the Prime Avatars. We meet with Odin and Alexander, for instance. The former has always been characterized with a near insatiable lust for battle. It's pretty much all he ever talks about, either encouraging people to do battle with him or empowering them to do battle on his behalf. The latter, while getting much less dialog prior to Rhapsodies, had a creepy cold, emotionless vibe to it, like an all-powerful god computer programmed to extract worship from its subjects by any means possible. In Rhapsodies, both entities have bland, normal conversations with the player, with the only hint of characterization being to sprinkle Thee's and Thou's into their speech.

Ya, just because it's an even depicting the last story doesn't mean there won't be nostalgia. I haven't played it but I know it's to tie everything together so it be odd not to see others, and maybe this piece of armor is just a tease at others that may come.

I just want my Prishe outfit.... Idc if it's in the cash shop or this event.... I need her outfit... Lion maybe as well... As for the other NPCs, don't care for them.... lol...

Pretty bummed the crossover is with a character I've never heard of. Bit of punch for people who played XI for 10 plus years and quit before these latest story inclusions. But, hey, at least they're doing the event. I'd be lying if I said I won't check it out.

aaand this event has me currently downloading FFXI <_< Never thought I'd go back to this game but seeing this event and reading up a bit on its story, kinda feels wrong to leave my "original" Sholin unfinished on XI. Well played SE x.x

I never got that far in White, however that future pupil of <player> for some reason, their gear had a phoenix like aesthetic with the color scheme and the tails on the body piece. Unfortunately what's left of Phoenix soul was still likely still bonded with Tenzen's Katana and had to be recharged (in an unknown manner). As for that pic just the color scheme and effect of the polearm suggests that something happened to it. If this is anything like the Lightning event we might get lv1 glam weapons stylized to match the outfit. Buy the looks of that, it looks like a universal outfit regardless of job. That may add to the possibility of weapons as well.

Yeah I'm surprised that they didn't pick more iconic characters for a crossover to a game that's reached its finale... we should've gotten outfits for Aldo / Prishe / Lion / Lilisette / Luzaf

I would've rather had weapon skins. That outfit looks hideous.

I get that it's to rope people into the final update for the game but I'd have prefered more iconic characters from the series.

I want Maat telling it like it is that we got it easy in Eorzea.

Not fond at all of the gear, but a variety of weapons would have been nice, they did a good job of that one in the picture.

We shall see I guess:)

Aww there was so many things that could have been done with this :( I am sure she is a great character with a nice story, but I doubt lot of people know who she is. Imagine if they put Prishe in there..or all the characters we've come to know over the years ; ;

Its like Disney having an event to celebrate their history..and then having only the newest disney princess there..lol why?
