A question about the Ninja trait "Fleet of Foot" during PvP

Hello!

The ninja trait, Fleet of Foot, grants the following:

Increases movement speed. Effect nullified if suffering from wasp or viper venom in a PvP area.

Of course, one would assume at first this means that your movement speed is reduced if you're currently using wasp/venom on your weapon. But the way it is worded, with "suffering", could mean that the speed is reduced if you're hit by another ninja. In which case there is no way to tell if you're "suffering from warp or viper venom" so that doesn't leave a debuff

It's probably poorly translated and simply means Fleet Footed's effect is nullified if you activate either one of your poisons in PvP areas.

Poor word choice. You lose the increased movement speed if you have any of the venom stances activated as a NIN.

Makes sense to me.

Only in a few scenarios, it is better to turn off your venom in favour of the increased movement speed (non-sprinting).
You can turn it off when you're trying to escape when sprint is unavailable, but chances are your pursuers will be sprinting after you. Or if you're trying to catch up to someone and both your sprints are down. Unfortunately, the bonus speed doesn't stack with sprint, but, on the other hand, it is an oGCD.

If you're amazing at micromanaging, you should play around with it.

Im a MNK and use Fists of Wind (movement speed boost) constantly. It helps when im chasing people down, when im running from people. It helps to be just a little bit faster than just about everybody

.... Pvping here... I even used ninja sometimes in secure and...... WHEN THE hell did they implement that?! I was still thinking that ninjas had awesome advantage because the constant speed buff.... Just waoh that they tuned it down.

Definitely, I second that, you learn something new every day.

This trait plus stealth makes me despise this melee job and this is coming from a guy that pretty much plays melee (and the occassional heal when needed) class exclusively in pvp. All Ninjas are good for is running away >.> Probably my third favorite job to kill (behind summoner and black mage) on my dragoon because of how cowardly the job plays considering its a melee.

That's exactly how I felt upon stumbling into this thread. XD

I didn't know this was a thing... b to the s right there! Hell man when I suddenly have my entire team ABANDON me and a gang of enemy players come rushing in they ALWAYS manage to catch up to me even when I sprint and I was always wondering HOW can they keep up with Ninja's Fleet of Foot ability?

Now I know... Ninjas have a hard time killing people without their burst damage and even then it has to be one-on-one as Ninjas get rekt easily when there's more than 2 enemies unless you're good at dodging.

Just so you know, Sprint bumps everyone up to the same speed, regardless of Fleet of Foot or Fists of Wind

That's ridiculous... NIN and MNK should STILL be faster with their ability on top of Sprint. NIN and MNK can die without a few hits when they're ganged up, they need the extra speed boost to improve their survivability rate.

Nnnnope.

Everything can die within a few hits when they're ganged up. If you expect to survive 1vMany, than your expectations are too high. NIN/MNK survivability is as fine as just about any other DPS.

No I got a head start and remove the Heavy buff and I'm a good 10 yalms away from them and they STILL manage to catch up with me like they were faster and kill him within 10+ hits even with I use my Second Wind and PvP Healing skill to recover and have Shade Shift on top of it was well or Featherfoot if my Shade Shift is down.

It's ridiculous, I don't expect NIN to survive 1vMany... that's impossible unless someone hacks their character to have infinite HP and LB and swat everyone off of them... what I expect that when I CLEARLY have a head start away from them and have Sprint on with my NIN's speed boost ability I SHOULD expect myself to get away or at least have them the same distance away from me when I started to run when they used their Sprint skill.

I feel like NIN is the weakest DPS in Sealed Rocks due to the terrain and how quickly they get picked off. A MNK and DRG have better survivability than a NIN and they can heal more and hit faster and harder too and even with my skills used my NIN can barely make a dent on any players even Healers. Heck we had a single AST in the midst of our group in one PvP match... there were more than 10 of us ganging up on the AST and the AST was pulling off all it's skills and healing and he had like infinite HP... we couldn't do anything and this AST healed his party members as well. I could not BELIEVE I was seeing... I don't know if more than 10 of us were targeting the same AST but he was the only one in our group with his friends outside of our little circle and he wouldn't go down.

With Healers like this it makes me feel like NIN is just the runt of the liter in Sealed Rock PvP which is a shame as NIN is my favorite class. I did manage to get Battle Fever in one match... out of the 300+ PvP battles I have ever did and got 11 kills and it felt great destroying everyone as BF boosted the dmg I dealt as a NIN and it really made me feel like... this is how NIN should be in PvP! I well never get this again and have to be super lucky to pick off enemies again to get it.



PS: SE... FIXED the damn character limit on your posts! Capping it to 1000 characters is dumb! At least 3000 characters pre-edit at least!

He did (his post is clearly well over the 1k limit). He's saying, and I agree, that we shouldn't have to multi-post or edit one post to surpass the 1000 character limit. The fact that you can even bypass the limit with Edit already shows it's a pointless restriction and that it serves no real purpose. It only 1) annoys people who know about the edit bypass or 2) causes people who are unfamiliar to spam a topic with multiple posts just to get their point across.

I can't even imagine how they thought 1000 characters would be enough to properly convey thoughts on a game forum. Maybe it's just a Japanese thing since their language can convey similar concepts with less written characters, but they need to do something about it.

This is impossible unless all ten of you were trying to kill the AST with only auto-attacks or something. It does take more dps to kill a AST when compared to the other 2 healers but usually 3 to 5 is enough depending on the availability of cooldowns those dps have. And regarding your note on fleet of foot needing to stack on top of sprint you guys are already faster than pretty much every other job save for monk AND you can bind pursuers to boot (the only melee that can boast this). You don't need any more tools when it comes to this aspect on top of that, the job practically specializes in running away. Also make sure you aren't trying to run away with your poisons on otherwise monks using fists of wind will catch up to you.

I have used the Hyoten and it helps, but only one it's like one or two of them chasing me... not an armada! I play on the PS4 and before I upgraded to the 2TB HD for memory I was capped out on memory space so I couldn't record a video, but next time I see another AST like this I will save a video of it to show you what I mean. Hopefully I can figure out exactly why 10 or so guys on a AST drawing attention to themselves in our group and not killing him cause I know I see his HP going down when I'm not attacking him or in range for Auto-Attack and my Rotation.

I still think NIN has hardest time contributing in PvP even in 24-man or 72-man battles.

It's possible that you (or they) are lagging. They could be closer to you in reality than it appears on your screen. I mean, everyone's sprint, unless they have the heavy debuff on them, is exactly the same speed. There is no way they could catch you when you're both sprinting unless you're lagging or their pathing is better (more direct, thus less wasted movement) than yours. I've caught up to people during a sprint chase simply because the path I took was more straight, while they were zig-zagging needlessly.

I'm thinking lag too and I go in a straight line.
