Please bring back 'Fine Sand' or at least sell shards!

This is getting ridiculous.

Fine sand is a difficult and time consuming item to make in quantity. The only other way to break Crystals into Shards is by using fish, which honestly, cannot even begin to meet market demand.

THERE WAS NEVER A PROBLEM.
Except the lack of grind content in crafting, but i get that.
Priority should be on the battle content right now.

The system really did work!
Fishers would fish up fish or Alchemists would break clusters and there would ALWAYS be more than an ample number of Crystals available in the wards because most grind synths use shards. A few people made a really good in game living buying Fine sands from the vendors and breaking those crystals into Shards and selling them for very respectable rates.

This allowed EVERYONE to choose to grind to their hearts content instead of running around doing leves. Personally, i would rather sit in one spot and grind the same synth 1,000 times. Heck, even if there were content for it, which there isn't, i know some of us are happy sitting there pounding the confirm button while we watch the baseball game. That's OKAY.

Now it's just ****ed.
The wards have been stripped dry and the only way seemingly to 'grind' crafts is to do leves. *facepalm*

Com'on SE, surely this was a bad choice!
If it's the shard sellers you want to fix, then just sell shards from a vendor.
If it's the confirm button grind you want to stop, THEN ADD CONTENT FIRST BEFORE YOU **** IT UP.

Otherwise i am very pleased with everything.

I think they did this since recipes aren't requiring 20 different parts for the final gear.

I didn't like it at first, but now it's more rewarding. I do wish we got rewarded a little bit more for leves though. Grinding those recipes does not fancy me at all.

I'm not sure about the wards being stripped dry.... there's always plenty of shards/crystals on my server. The prices maybe have jumped slightly but they are perfectly reasonable.

That said, I'm not sure where all the shards are coming from. My server is pretty low population....

Bots, mostly. You'll always see one or two of them tugged away in a corner of one of the wards. Only R1 equipment, of course. And of course, when you check back 15 hours later, they are still there.

BUT I realized they do seem to get banned lately; their names seem to change every week or so. So as long as they are reported, it looks like the task force has actually begun to move. At least that is the impression I get. After reporting about a hundred of them, hahahahaha!!! ^.^/

Here on Bodhum, the shard sellers are drying up quickly. Fine sand is going for 2k and over. It's not surprising since all the RMT shard bots are now giving up with no easy way to convert crystals.

Pretty much unless you stockpiled fine sand, you're forced to fish for your shards now, or head to the vendor in LL and buy the cheaper fish. The river/sea sand conversion to fine sand isn't really worth your time.

Go and gather a whole ton of brass loach or malm kelp before you start on the other shards though!!

I would like to see the guilds sell 1 shards for 25 guildmark, which would be the equivalent of 300 guildmarks for one crystal.

SE please give us something to spend our guildmarks on.

I won't be surprised to see much better Alchemist recipes in 1.20 for both shards and crystals.

Only crystals are sold for marks.

it takes a tremendous number of shards to grind 1-50.
i agree that, and have felt that it would be easy for RMT for bots to overtake shard sales,
but we need a source of them that is as easy as the wards were. I could go through 5,000 shards in a DAY.

I seem to remember having about 70 stacks of Fine Sand on my old retainer, wonder if it's still there and usable? If so, could make a little profit selling that :D

Shards are easy to get and cheap on Besaid in the wards. Not sure what the problem is. I bought several stacks for 50-100 gil per shard the other day, which is just as cheap as it was before 1.19.

My guess is that someone's income stream got disrupted....

Looking at a few of the posts in this topic, i see that the supply has not run dry on all servers yet.
Give it time. On Lindblum there are basically no shards left, and few Fine Sands.
I'm sure some smart players stocked up on 100+ stacks of fine sand before the patch and that will keep things going a little while depending on how many people did that on your server.

But i assure you, if you like to buy Shards, buy as many as you can right now. Don't wait till tomorrow, or you'll wish you did.

Also, my income stream was Silver Nuggets ... which i guess DID get disrupted in a way, but as a 42 miner i won't have a problem. What really got disrupted is that i relied on buying ward shards for grinding my crafts.

I have to agree with NefarioCall. Fine Sand will have to be brought back. I’m one of them people that sell shards in the wards in Melmond, and I NEED Fine Sand.

Fishing is so I can make enough shards, to make the shards I sell is going to be WAY to time consuming. I’ve already filed the feedback in the Support Center. So if anyone else wants it back, I suggest they do the same.

It was a bit broken tbh. However, they shouldn't have rendered alchemy nearly useless with this patch
