What's the use in traveling fast if you don't have enough range to cover multiple destinations? I believe I've come up with the best possible Hull any Airship could possibly hope to be outfitted with.

Allow me to introduce to you the Hull of the Heavens' Ward!

For me, facing King Thordan and his Knights Twelve was no joke. He was able to cut through the thick skies of Azys Lla, after all. However, in the long run, the victory I claimed was all the worthwhile. He fell by my Axe, and I claimed his Sword for my experimentation in flight dynamics back at my Free Company's workshop.

Of course, only the finest metals would work with a project like this. And the vast expanse of Thanalan's wilderness has all sorts of metals in great abundance. I needed to gather plenty of Bomb Ash in the Sagolii Desert to help bind the metal plates together. Then I traveled to Northern Thanalan for Cobalt Ore to help reinforce the Hull further.

Concentration was critical during the Hull's construction. I made it a point to craft the key materials on the roof of my Free Company's house. No one was able to disturb me up there. And what's more, I could feel the movement of the winds as I crafted, and gain inspiration from the open air. Thus, I could shape the pieces of the Hull accordingly.

With a Hull like this, no destination in the Sea of Clouds will be unreachable for you!

Perhaps off-topic, but when are the Winners of the Cartographers and Seekers contest and the 100 Randomly selected Voting Prizes for the Hairstyle Design Contest going to be announced?

The results would effect which in-game item I would ask for as a prize.

Usually can't edit posts in Contest threads. I guess they turn it off so ppl can't go back and change their submissions over and over.

This is an awesome idea just like all the other contest out there but for people who already have these rewards is there anyway we can get the Dev team to drop in some new rewards? I would imagine y'all would see more of these quality post if you put up something a little different for a reward. Hope this doesn't come off in the wrong way because I love these contest but the fact that your still recycling the same rewards makes it kinda of "meh" at this point. And yes i understand the "do it for the fun not reward" aspect but new rewards would up the interest.

Do you have a small Free Company more interested in exploration than fighting? Do you worry more about what would happen to your airship if it actually encountered a monster than what treasures it can bring back? Than consider applying my custom Stealth Shields to your hull!

Inspired by various monsters that seem to “vanish” into thin air, these custom-mounted Stealth Shields will allow your airship to slip on past those pesky flying monsters and pirate airships.

First, I noted how well dragons seemed to handle the sharp wind on their skin, and slayed a few for their resilient hides. While those skins cured into hides, I headed out to the snowy wasteland to gather up dozens of handfuls of mythrite sand. Those glowing grains do a wondrous job of refracting light! Although the fine powder does tend to tickle the nose.

Once back home, I drained the marketboard of any and all hot chocolate to warm my frigid hands for the final, critical part. After a liberal rubbing of scale glue onto the hardened leather, I sprinkled the sand onto the hides and invisible shields were born!

Well, not entirely invisible, but the final product bends enough light around your airship to deter most monsters in the sky. In simpler layman's terms: aethereal magical... stuff. Never again worry about surviving encounters when you can just avoid them. Available to be custom-fitted over any hull type!

To gather the materials, I spoke to the Goblins in Outer La Noscea who are very familiar with mechanical crafts. They offered I do tasks for them in exchange for some aurum regis and adamantite nuggets, which I did!

With the gathered materials, I flew to the Dravanian Hinterlands and looked for the best spot that has Alexander's view. Alexander was my inspiration and I wanted to get the best view in order to craft my Gordian Slide to perfection!

The song of the siren has lured many unsuspecting sailors to their doom; however, if I were to reverse its polarity, the song should guide a ship to safety instead. When I heard about the dangers of airship travel, I knew it was time to introduce my ARSS to Eorzea.

An old friend allowed me to peruse her notes for a means of containing the siren’s voice. Her assistants were invaluable in helping me find the information I needed. My friends could barely suppress a giggle when they asked where I pulled the idea of my ARSS from; I knew they felt as giddy as I did about this project.

I wish I could show you my old friend, but she graciously asked to remain anonymous. Despite her indispensable aid, she adamantly refused to accept any credit, or as she put it, “liability.”

While traveling to Pharos Sirius to slay the siren—blamm!—a detective of unquestionable wit literally fell out of the sky. I immediately sensed something great about him, but I must confess, it was not his intelligence that caught my attention.

It was his senseless, yet selfless, determination that truly impressed me. I informed him of my plans and he agreed to help, but I found myself tangled in his misadventures: a string of seemingly unrelated thefts, gang warfare between moogle crimelords, a bad cactuar mount idea, abductions by little green lalafell from the moon, and a murderous plot involving foot odor. After an older man in sunglasses (the only thing he wore aside from underpants) suplexed a train, things started getting weird. I’ll spare you the details, but we ended up saving Eorzea!

Almost forgot where this was going—we also captured the siren’s voice along the way.

Many horrendous fatalities occurred in the design phase, but everyone preemptively refused to let me dedicate my ARSS to their honor. I often cried because of their selfless dedication—that, and the fact that they met indescribably horrible ends. Eventually we came up with a stable ARSS design THAT DIDN’T DRIVE INSANE ANYONE WHO HEARD THAT BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL VOICE!

I stood in awe of the final prototype. The beautiful appearance of my ARSS complimented the melodious tone it emitted. My old friend said she expects this to go about as well as her colleague’s attempt to summon a succubus. That sounds like an endorsement to me!

I'm disappointed to learn that despite the 500 word limit for the contest, there is still a 1000 character limit on the posts. Posts can't be edited to get around this like they can be in other threads.

As such, my first post was horribly flubbed, and I hope that my second will be accepted, though it is a horribly mangled massacre of the almost-500-word tale I had originally hoped to tell.

It appears my post in the entry thread, which was originally posted as 2 separate posts like in the discussion thread due to character limitations, has been merged into one post. Thank you for that. However, the merging of the two posts has left my entry a horribly mangled, garbled gibberish transition of thoughts. Can you please adjust it so that it flows properly? It should read exactly like the posting on the discussion forums, and I have no idea how blending the two posts together could have caused the second post to appear halfway into the posting of the first.

There has been some talk around Eorzea that uncharted islands in the sky will soon be open for adventurers to explore. But who other than the twelve knows what kind of dangers we will all face in such uncharted territory. What we all need is a behemoth horn forecastle, deadly, sturdy and intimidating for any unforeseen dangers. This will be no easy task of course, but I’d rather insure my free company’s safety above all else for this upcoming endeavor.

As strong behemoths are, there is no better behemoth to gather from then the king behemoth himself. Massive in size and strength, I will surely need a sizeable group to bring him down. Currently the only known location of this beast is inside the labyrinth of the ancients. Gathering no more than twenty four adventures to defeat this mighty beast, it soon fell.

King behemoth horns are no small item. It took many moons to transport them from mor ’dona to my free company home in the lavender beds. But it was well worth the effort. With this new attachment my crew and I should have nothing to fear.
