FFXI crossover event

Did they say anything about what the FFXI cross over event is going to be? Use to play FFXI had a bunch of lv99s.

If they had, I'm sure it would be in the answer in the post in the thread...? o.o

We already had an XI cross over. It's come and gone twice and will likely not return. Shantotto showed up and fought us in some FATEs and gave you a Wind Up Shantotto and threatened to come back and set your pants on fire if you mistreat it.

They said they are doing another XI event because its the last patch cycle for them.

There's going to be another crossover event? First I've seen word of this. Haven't really thought about it given they hadn't done one since the first the year before last. The Lightning event was a special case because it was commemorating the game's two release dates (I think. Japanese and International releases if I recall). The XI and Dragon Quest events were for giggles mostly, though I think the Dragon Quest one was to commemorate Dragon Quest X? Either way, those two events have yet to be repeated in the near two years since, not really seeing what's changed in XI since then to warrant a repeat.

New FFXI Grand Finale Collab

F: We’re getting close to the ending. But we have a very special announcement. We’ve said 11/10 is when the patch is released. 11/11 is when the last patch for final fantasy xi will be released.
Y: Because of this momentous occasion we’ve decided to another new eleven collaboration event to coincide with the grand finale of that game. We think you can enjoy it either by doing the 11 finale first and then enjoying the collaboration event OR by doing fourteen’s event and then returning even after a long time to finish eleven. Yeah, from what was stated it seems this event will be brand new and will not simply be the earlier FFXI crossover event with Shantotto repeated - given the fact the reason for running this is to coincide with FFXI's storyline ending event Rhapsodies of Vana'diel it's probable therefore this new event will have some connection to that (possibly involving that Far Eastern girl (Aroha I believe her name is?) from Vana'diel's future who is the central character of the event, or something).

But I guess we'll find out. :)

Though I expect it'll just be story fluff with Iroha showing up and confusing people who haven't kept up with Rhapsodies, and then we temporal fed ex her back to FFXI.

They ARE connected. The gods who created Eorzea where lazy when coming up with an idea for a new world, so they stole ideas from the last successful world, but muddled them up a lot. Then the gods cried out, and a new god destroyed the world, combined the remains with foreign influences, and brought forth its current incarnation.

It'll be one giant panty raid in the sewers just you wait! :D

I hope they'll bring AV to freely roam in the world and kill all players on its way.

Haha... yeah, except the first god didn't care too much about his creation and had left things in the hands of his messengers who were not that familiar with creating and maintaining a universe on their own, leading to a war in Heaven where the first god was defeated and cast out, his successor taking it upon himself to remake the world in the image desired by the mortals of the realm. And there was but much rejoicing... ;)

Seriously though, the development team did officially debunk the 'FFXI=FFXIV' theory a long time ago, so the only connections between the two are just fanservice references like with other FF worlds in XIV.

I hope they put in some of the music from FFXI. While I never played it I love the battle music and Nobuo Uematsu is still godly.

Except that Nobuo Uematsu... wasn't actually FFXI's main composer. Most of FFXI's OST was actually the work of Naoshi Mizuta (including most of the battle themes), with Kumi Tanoika providing a number of tracks for the base game, but the expansion sountracks were completely Mizuta's work. Uematsu only provided the main theme song Distant Worlds and it's variations, the opening orchestral theme Memoria di la Stona, the eponymous field track Ronfaure, and reoccurring FF tracks like the various chocobo theme variations including Dash de Chocobo and the Prelude when on the FFXI update page of Playonline Viewer.

Uematsu's first large scale composing work on a FF game after FFIX was FFXIV version 1.0, but that's another story. ;)

But yeah, this new crossover event will definitely feature FFXI music - the last event with Shantotto featured... a remix of her final boss theme Feast of the Ladies from her FFXI mini-add-on expansion A Shantotto Ascension (this version actually was included on the ARR OST under the title Reign of Pain ;)), and the FFXI 'quest complete' fanfare when the FATE and event were completed. ;) So it is almost guaranteed we will have FFXI music show up again during this event. ;)

That's because she (accidentally?) created the magic to traverse dimensions in her storyline, A Shantotto Ascension (though in that storyline, she's thrown into an alternate Vana'diel, while her tyranical alternate counterpart is thrown into ours and split into two: Domina Shantotto and Belle Shantotto). She's basically like Gilgamesh, who can also traverse through the void.

As Nestama explained, Shantotto only ended up in Hydaelyn/Eorzea because of the dimension-hopping spell that she mucked up which kicked off her FFXI mini-expansion pack A Shantotto Ascension (she even name-dropped the expansion's title during the cutscene for the FFXI crossover event) - she states specifically that her native Vana'diel and Hydaelyn are completely separate worlds with no actual direct connections.

So as stated, Vana'diel and Hydaelyn are not directly connected, other than like all FF worlds existing as part of a larger multiverse.

They need to let us beat Shantotto for real. I hate when people on the internet keep bringing that annoying midget to the topic where people talk about who's the strongest FF character.

Well no one can beat her. If you do, then you've been fighting her automaton the entire time. The only Shantotto anyone is able to beat is Domina and Belle, yet they still got the last laugh and turned everyone in the world into Shantotto's (and only the real Shantotto could fix that mess. Godzilla style).

All they need to do is import the Sanctuary of Zi'tah into FFXIV :)

A gate will open between the dimensions and all of the FFXI players will evacuate to Eorzea as their final patch cycle ends.

They can live outside Ul'dah in (instanced) tents.

if the top 2 refuges come to Eorzea i would have to put them up in my FC room

as for the cross over event

even though shantotto would be easier to implement (since the Dat's are already in game) I would feel it more appropriate if my number 2 choice in ffxi characters comes over, who is Iroha (she is part of the Rhapsodies of Vanadiel Missions).

This is the first I've heard of this. But how will XIV explain why the XI summoners are not limited to 3 summons? Here's hoping the FFXIV side has updated models of characters from XI. But speaking of, maybe they'll give us glams for some weapons in XI or Matt fates for a copy of his cap.

I am thinking they will give us an Iroha minion since she is the main character in the finale.

The thing I found really funny about the Shantotto minion is that it's 1:1 to Shantotto as she appeared in Dissidia. Don't see us getting that minion again, but given the story of Wings there's the possibility of a lost Lilisette this time around. Can't wait to see what it's going to be.

I hope that players with FFXI's linked account gets something extra, like an exclusive sentence referring to a character we had back on FFXI or whatever!

I would like an item dropping fate(s). You take the items to an npc and buy glamours of our old original AF1 armors, updated graphically for 14. Like this but for all the classes...

They wont go away for as long as I'm playing. Although I'm only in the "Well in XI it was like" group. I don't care for this game to be transformed into another game I don't play anymore.
