Reclamation of Inactive Housing
I know you all wanted it :) And SE delivered :D
Congrats to all those people on those crowded servers.
THANK YOU SE!!!!!
Seems fair. Even irl you have to pay your taxes.
It's great I just wish it counted sitting on the front lawn... lol, I don't go inside my house everyday but I sit outside it and craft often. I think the lawn/garden is my favorite part.
Oh well, whatever they need to do I guess.
Not happy with the time limit on redeeming items; essentially being unable to play for an extended period of time will make you lose everything.
Well all they request is that you visit it every one month and half. Plus if you fail to do so you still get refunded 80% of what you paid. Its totally fair as with the current situation people quit and their houses stay taken forever.
As for the 35days to get your things back as the op said thats kinda unfair.
Seems very fair to be honest. Now I wonder if in the near future they'll allow us to demolish our house ourselves and reclaim the 80% gil and certain furnishings we put into it so we can swap servers or what have you?
Oh I don't deny that. I visit my house everyday. I'll just have to remember to go inside.
I'm just OCD so I figure I'll feel obligated to go inside every day too even if I wasn't going in to hang out. I totally am the same person that checks her car ten times to make sure it's locked lol.
Kinda expected 65+ days since the devs and the playerbase encourage people to take breaks. 45 days means auto-demolish if you wanna take 2 months off. Better than nothing though, I suppose.
While I'm happy for people wanting homes, I still feel like this should have been more strict. 4-5 of my neighboring FCs rarely log in, because they moved servers/dropped mains and went to other FCs, then left their alts in charge to keep their FCs/homes. My block is still going to be dead, because now they just need to log in the one time and then ignore it for another nearly two months. This does nothing to combat greedy players unless they actually quit playing the game.
To those looking to buy, I hope you get your plots/FC housing.
This isn't a fix for the housing availability problem. This is a sham that's meant to manipulate you into staying subscribed forever or else. If SE really wanted to fix the housing system, they'd have fixed the availability problem. But if they had a fix for the availability problem, this 45 day timer system wouldn't exist.
This is very bad for all of us. This shows that they have no plan or intention of fixing the lack of availability. People should not be celebrating this. We should be spitting this in SE's faces and telling them no we don't want the limited availability redistributed. We want the limited availability fixed.
In FC houses isn't a problem, it is unlikely that everyone will not log for 45 days straight...
In case of Personal houses, deal with it. Is like you decide to take a break for 3-6 or more months when there is many active players looking for 1 house seems unfair. Even in real life if you own a house but you don't go home and not pay taxes etc they can take over your house and sell to someone else.
Best solution you can do is having someone you know well and is faithful and he will do the basic stuff you request in your inactivity period.
People saying deal with it. What if u r active duty military and get sent overseas for months a time.
I thought it says ACCESSING your house.....bit just paying a sub very month. It says Accessing . two very different things.
+not yay auto-correct
You have the bill linked to your credit card so paying isn't a problem as long you have money there. Even if you can't pay you still have your wife/husband in the house or having some family taking care for you usually.
EDIT: if you were talking about in game then you can give your account info to a friend to log and take care of your needs.
In that matter if you don't pay sub how can you access your house? Unless anyone that access your house count for the reset of that counter. If anyone that enter in FC/personal house reset then people can stay unsubscribed longer. I guess we need to clarify this thing :x
I thought it says ACCESSING your house.....not just paying a sub very month. It says Accessing . two very different things.
Suggesting u give ur log info to another person or else is NOT a realistic solution.
You people aren't even listening to SugarPeanut. This is pretty crap for people in the service. What're they supposed to do? You want to also talk about unfair about an FC that doesn't log in for 3 months while they add raid content to the game?
Well what about fair when that guild comes back for a new patch, and their plot for all of them has been taken by ONE person who bought it? How is THAT fair? The FC lost the house AND all of the individual rooms? How is that fair?
And they said before they would add more wards "as needed" but clearly won't anytime soon or else why implement this. And yes, I know, they sent reading anything I said...
+are not auto-correct yay :(
Sounds like to me then they don't need housing. Anyone who just subs after a new patch is released then un-subs once they are done with it doesn't really need housing then. What about the folks who log in everyday and have subbed since launch.
While I do agree that this isn't really a fix and just puts added pressure on people to keep an active sub going. Its better than nothing which is what a lot of people have when it comes to housing that are here everyday. I do think adding more housing would have been better, but what happens when that fills up? Do they keep adding more and more for every active and un-active sub out there? Housing has always been an issue and it will continue no matter what they do.
I don't know why they didn't take a look at the other mmos with housing. They said they would add more wards "as needed" but clearly this was a lie cuz rather than add that they made this rule instead. That means no time soon will they add them.
Ty SE this was sorely needed.
I think this 80% refunding should -also- apply to people manually relinquishing their plots along with this update (If it's not here already). So those expecting to be away for long time can relinquish right away and claim back their money at least, if they can't login on time before everything from the caretaker is lost. Also that would help a bit for those planning to sell off their plots like what most people are doing currently.
This guy gets itQuote:

Yep I mean ppl wanna fool themselves into thinking whatever but its been over a year and this is all they got for us so far ? And u still have faith?
If you can't get on FFXIV for 45 days, try getting a friend of yours to do it for you.
Solution: Have a friend of yours log onto your account and get in the house at least once every 45 days.
A) It's just a game.
B) You're getting majority of your money and furnishing back.
C) Buying a plot, and not using it at all, is unfair to other players who has been saving their gil and waiting.
Basically so decided to take and not add. How does that make sense to u some of ppl.
This is immediately going to open up the plots next to me on either side. Both belong to FCs that are dead. One is down to one lone member that hasn't logged in since July. The other has multiple members, but the last person to log on, and thus the current FC leader, is a level 43 who hasn't been on in six months.
Simple reason to this.
Money its a good business decision to remove houses from inactive people than keep adding new wards which costs money. Sorry if your in the service and can't log in but this is only one of the steps their taking to fix housing.
As iv said good business decision.
If, after implementing this, they scare 75% of the MIA housing owners into resubbing and as a result only reclaim a fraction of the land that they'd hoped, they may yet add additional wards. But it makes much more sense to recycle first.
I managed to grab my personal house via a miracle when the last FC member transferred to another server without bothering to selling the house first or something like that; all I know is a plot opened up in Goblet and I rushed there fully expecting to see a transaction in process, but there wasn't one. I hope now that others on Lamia server who have had an active sub for over two straight years like me can have the option to buy into a FC or personal house, too.
