Title basically, I know that in past games hammer wielders have usually been Engineers but there were also VIKINGS!!!
So we do have an opening! Make it happen SE. :)

Seriously, no! Lot of of other mmo's/rpg's got those all over the place.
I honestly don't see how that's a negative point to argue against the implementation of hammers/clubs...
'Long-shafted'....
-coughs-
Asides from that, clubs, maybe, but hammers, no. Hammers are already in-game as a weapon-class; for armorers and blacksmiths.
i have been saying
the next tank/DPS should be a mace/club/hammer welding class
since we have monk, we need more blunt damage class
but i do feel we have enough DPS, times for Tank class
hammer do occasionally appear in FF series
we could have a Viking as tank class
Viking need no shield.
Viking have Muscles.
Viking its men!.
..... Uaaaaargh!
Ok that a side... we need a doble weapon Tank now xD maybe two maces/club/hammers. Or a Mace/club/hammer + a big ass gauntlet in the other hand like its was a shiled, wich can charge with Parry and after certain numers of charges Punch the F*** of the enemy/ies.
As for Dps... meh give them a Gigant Mace to squash their enemies like mario bros turtles.
Maybe a melee healer with drg+ like defense. (Heal spells would still be ranged)
Ranged mode: below average Healer ranged dps using mp. Focus on single target healing bonus. Possibly less defense.
Melee: more potent dps form with attacks that use tp, focus on aoe healing bonus.
They could add a separate skill equivalent to cleric stance so whm wouldn't be a must for cross class and skills that drain tp for mp to heal with.
They would juggle mp/tp, ranged/melee stance, and a str/mind/(possibly int if the range stance swaps int/str.) cleric stance. :3 would be interesting
here hoping they'll add a hammer base job in the future. Would switch main immediately.

sorry, can't help myself :p
we have only 3 tank classes and 3 healer classes compare to 7 DPS classes
we dont need more DPS classes now
we need 1 more tank class and 1 more healer class
Samurai share armor with Dragoon is abit weird, Dragoon is more the western culture, their design all around dragon killing, jumping, diving
where Samurai are oriental eastern culture, Shogun type armor is nothing about jumping, diving and dragon killing
they would need to split their armor, like we should split MCN and BRD armor, we should split NIN and MNK outfit
Samurai could be DPS or Tank with tons of debuff and buff
but doesnt matter how many two-hand weapon tank we have
they are axe and great sword, we need hammer
if two handed really a issue, it could be mace/club with shield
it would be nice to have a tank like WAR but with mace

I do like a good bludgeoning weapon every once in a while. Sometimes you just want to smash things.
I'd honestly love to have a 1h axe + Shield.
Or heck, bring in Geomancer and their Bell weapons. We can ring-a-ding-ding our enemies to death!
Give warrior's the hammer, and have it change their damage type from slashing to blunt, which would also affect Storm's Eye. More jobs need blunt damage.
This is what I was thinking. I even made a Geomancer tank idea that used "bell-maces" as their weapons. The idea was that they used these weapons to call upon the elementals to "shield" them from their enemies. And each shield had its own unique characteristics. Like 2 are straight-up defensive boosted, but three were counter shields like Eye for and Eye and one was a Regen shield, similay to Asylum, I guess. The idea is liked in my signature if anyine cares to check it out. And after I came up with this idea I so want a Geomancer tank now, lol.
In Final Fantasy, the hammer is the traditional weapon of the White Mage.
WHMs with hammers are typically DPS gimmick WHMs--FFXIV already established they don't want WHMs doing that, so the hammer is still free to give to another class. Geomancers have historically been the other hammer class, and I think geomancer would be a fun tank. GEO as a DPS wasn't particularly impressive in XI, so let's try a different role in XIV...
