Ranged LB direction/effect size

When a party member uses a ranged Limit Break, from your point of view, there is a blue rectangle shaped reticule that shows the direction and radius of the LB. The player executing the ranged Limit Break, however, does not see this effect. Therefore, it is difficult as a BRD or MCH to gauge if the targets are within the effect range of the LB. My question is, why add this effect if it can only be seen by party members, and not the user? Can it be changed to a cone? If not, can the player place this rectangle? Maybe make it so when the LB button is pressed, the player is rooted in place with a rectangular reticule emanating from the front of their character, and moving your character spins them around, so they can direct the beam to hit the intended targets.

One time I was on the last boss in Fractal, and I wanted to be cool and use the LB on the line of alarums that spawned. Except I was off-center so I ended up grazing the front of all of them and hitting nothing.

I didn't get any commendations that day.

So idiots don't pull stuff out of the lb. You can see the indicators when you're placing it (at least as caster, and as phys ranged it's just whatever's in front of you). The person casting it should need it the least, because you just placed it. You know exactly where it is. No one else does without the indicator.

I wouldn't mind also getting the indicator as a little QoL thing, but the reasons for why it is the way it is are pretty obvious.

But the caster can't tell the WIDTH or RANGE of it, only a vague direction of what's in front of you. There's not much time for people to move mobs in its range, it's easier for the caster to decide if they're close enough or facing the right direction.

Ranged LB, the user cannot see their placement because the activation is similiar to that of melee. They can't see the projected AoE too cast they're channeling. Not to mention the cast time is so incredibly short that your party cannot react to it anyway as far as mob placement is concerned, and we can't aim with it either even if we were to stop-cast to "test the waters"

And when I do it see it from the other side, the effective range is laughable The mobs literally need to be lined up for it to hit, otherwise if they clutter on the tank (which they do on AoE pulls), you're only going to hit some of them because your AoE isn't any wider than a typical roegayden.

Oh and just to have icing on this shet cake, it's also less damage than the caster LB.

This would be such a welcomed addition! I cant count the number of times on bard I've been hitting the monster with my attacks but then LB and see the beam go flying off to the side, hitting nothing (While my normal attacks were still hitting, mind you!).

A very, very needed change!

Either that or make it a narrow conical shaped instead of a thin rectangle line--or increase the width of the radius by a few 1-2y. As it's difficult to line up targets and the it's already the weakest damage LB3, at least let it have the potential to hit the most targets.


Physical LB: Highest Damage, single target
Magical LB: Highest Damage, multi target, can place reticule wherever caster wants within range.
Ranged LB: Lowest Damage, multi target, hard to gauge distance and radius without visual aid.

I know Ranged LB is the weakest since Casters and Melee are DPS, and Ranged are Support+DPS that can deal damage without stopping to cast (nevermind except for WM and Gauss), but it at least balance it out by giving it a wider range, or maybe a secondary DoT effect or debuff or something.

It makes no sense that a LB with a much smaller AoE, plus the added difficulty to aim it properly, does less damage then the caster LB with its gigantic AoE.

At the very least they should do the same.

Ranged LB is the weakest, but its not that much lower than the caster LB. Also, Ranged LB3 is really long. Able to reach both bosses across the room in A1/S long.

They really need to make the lb wider. Literally can't even hit a single person in pvp with it because they can literally take 2 steps to the side and be out of the aoe.

So can caster LB, and ranged LB still requires the MCH/BRD to skillshot it by running over into the hitbox of one of the bosses to hit both of them.

well that sucks...if anything, figured it would be the same or slightly stronger since Brds/Mchs have to actually target something and line up a shot

I think LB1 and LB2 are the same on caster/ranged, or it doesn't come off as a significant difference. Caster and ranged LB3, ranged is definitely almost exactly 10% weaker.

BLM and SMN are full DPS. BRD and MCH are support-dps. That's why caster LB is stronger.

Person using the limit break should DEFINITELY be able to see the aoe marker during cast. The fact that they can't now is kind of silly. I noticed one person said "so the other people can know not to pull mobs out of it." but that isn't a reason to not have it shown to the caster, who cannot even tell if they are in it to begin with of a course of distance. It just further increases the chances of missing and then perpetuates using those specific limit breaks even less due to their inability to be aimed correctly.

Being labeled 'support' because of Ballad and Paeon (and being punished in the damage dealing/LB dept because of it) is wrong and needs to stop. Ranged LB should be just as strong as Caster LB, at least.
