I want more than 10 Action Bars

10 bars are not enough now.

#1-3 = job skills
#4 = PvP skills, Teleport, Return, mounts
#5 = Chocobo Companion commands
#6 = PvP main action bar
#7 = Hunting main action bar
#8 = defensive healer action bar
#9 = Gear sets
#10 = Gear sets, Dye, Glamour, Marking for tank, PvP Profile, Gold Saucer, Party Finder.

still can't have all the gear sets for every job, missing some main menu commands, etc.

please add more action bars. 20 bars should be enough.

Are you serious? I can barely manage to fill 3, maybe you need to learn to manage what you do and don't need better. You don't need dyes or gear sets on your action bars, you don't need a healer action bar when you're not playing a healer, you don't need a bar for Hunts, etc.

What I need is like, one more crossbar.
But I don't "need" it, I fit all job skills on four crossbars and have four shared.

In fact maybe I don't even need one more crossbar. I mean who uses that menu crossbar they give you anyway, "Start" literally brings up the menu in exchange for one second of your time.

Agreed with not needing it but it would be nice as an option like thousands of other things this game lacks for quality of life.

this is just like that one guy in the dps forums that was asking for more macro space. to explain, he macroed ALL of his moves.

I agree with OP, there is not enough hotbar room. I think allowing players to have a secondary roulette for mounts and minions for their preferred favorites would help a fair bit (I see quite a few people with multiple mounts on their hotbars). But as we are currently, it is very easy to fill up ones hotbars.

We should either have more hotbars or a way to de-clutter them, especially with all the jobs we have now.

While I certainly do not need 10 more bars. I would like just to be able to rotate them, like change the horizontal ones to vertical so I can arrange them a bit better. The horizontal ones apart from 1-3 often look a bit out of place.

Technically we don't have 10 hotbars available, but 310 (IIRC).

Copy and share commands are your friends. If you're not lazy and willing to manage them, that's it.

How often do you change our gear sets though? I suppose if you were indecisive with what class you want to play, I believe they said you'd be able to change gear sets with text in 3.1, so maybe "/gs botanist" would work in the future. Easy to remember for anyone I'd assume. I can't imagine what your UI must look like with all those hot bars everywhere. I'll give you the Eternity Ring, but challenge log, Gold Saucer menu and the PvP profile? How often do you really visit those, probably not enough to warrant a spot on the hotbar... If it's that frequent why not just set a keybind for them?

If you can show me a picture of a 10 hotbars being filled with useful things, and not a "Hunting Bar" then I'll give you it, but otherwise I feel it's unnecessary. But hey, if a player wants to clutter their UI like that why not let them?

I change mine fairly frequently. I do Expert on my WHM, trials on my AST, high level + low level + main scenario + guildhests on whatever job I'm currently leveling (MCH), I PvP on my SMN/WHM/AST depending on the party comp. It has nothing to do with indecisiveness. In this game you can be all the classes on one character, and all the classes do different things. Why subject yourself to one if you don't need to? Playing the same class all the time gets dull, that's why most people have alts in other MMORPGs or try to play a class that has a lot of diversity to avoid monotonous gameplay.

I wouldn't mind being able to type out /gs <Job Abbreviation>, but if I wanted to type out my gearsets, I'd just memorize the numbers. Clicking a button is much easier and less subjected to error.

It looks fine. You can shrink hotbar sizes, so aside from the 3 job hotbars, everything is tiny and tucked away.

Everyday.

I PvP 5 times a day, I have to switch classes frequently. Because the PvP skill points need to be reset for every class, that menu gets used the most.

I check the challenge log frequently as well. I try to make sure my Chocobo hits some things and I do some guildhests and guildleves everyday so I'm not left with them all by the weekend. With so many classes to get from 50 to 60 and the amount of EXP feeling ridiculous, I keep a close eye on my log to make sure that EXP is not ending up on a level 60 character.

As for the Gold Saucer, I only have it on my bar because I'd keep forgetting if I did my 3 minipots. So it gets its use as well.

With what keys? I don't have a fancy gaming mouse and all my other keys on my hotbar are occupied by other skills. Especially considering I have really small hands so I can't reach past the 6 key very easily, meaning Q-T, F&G, Z-V are all occupied by skills or other menus. Everything else I manually click on.

This is the most cluttered my screen looks. When I have my PvP hotbar open and I'm on my SMN. This is because both my pet hotbar and my PvP hotbar are set at 100% instead of being smaller, which I honestly should do, but have yet to do so.

Hotbars 1-3: Job specific skills
Hotbar 4: Party Finder, Achievements, Challenge Log, Companion menu, PvP Profile, Gold Saucer menu, Emotes, teleport, Eternity Ring, 90 second /dance macro (the most important thing), Chocobo, Gysahl Greens.
Hotbar 5: Mark 1-4, Ignore 1&2, Circle, Cross, Triangle (aka Dunce Cap for the person who keeps derping during raid), Waymarkers, Sprint, Limit Break
^ These are all things I use the most frequently, so I have them in an easy location.
Hotbar 6: Job specific PvP skills, some of my classes have PvP gearsets, so those are located on this hotbar. (This hotbar gets toggled on/off frequently, which is why it's way off in the middle of nowhere)
Hotbar 7: DoW/DoM classes
Hotbar 8: DRG who didn't fit on the DoW/DoM hotbar, Mount menu, Mount Roulette, Parade Chocobo (Flying mount), blank space for Storm Warhorse (soon), Square, Bind 1-3 (these are used specifically for PvP, mostly marking enemy team healers, so I have them on a side hotbar), and cheap leveling food.
Hotbar 9: DoL/DoH classes and Minion menu.
Hotbar 10: Minion Roulette, Ready Check, Dig, Armory Chest (easier to put stuff in my retainer/change their gear), Friend List, Player Search (I honestly don't use this one too much, but I keep forgetting where to find Player Search, so I just slapped it somewhere easier to find), Key Items (I think I originally had my Aether Compass here), Timers, HUD Layout (easier to turn off/on my PvP hotbar), User Macros (I don't use this one too much either and I know where Macros are in the menu, but this is just for laziness).
My hotbars aren't exactly overflowing, as I do like to keep a space between a group of skills/buttons, just so I don't accidentally click the wrong thing. But as they are already, imo, they're really full and really cluttered.

Not everyone plays the same way you do, not everyone plays the way I do either. Some people like a lot of macros, some people like a lot of outfits. Everyone is a little bit different and everyone's hotbars are set up different. Some people are fine with less hotbars, some people need more. Just because it doesn't suit you does not mean it's a bad idea.

Last I checked, hotbars had 12 slots in them, not 10. So it's actually 1 and 11/12 bars for gearset.

For gear sets I did this:
- 1 gear set of each disciple (4 slots)
- the other gear sets of the same disciple of the current job/class

This way I can switch first to the disciple, then to the class/job and save skill slots (for future classes/jobs)

I still can't see why as to why going into the character menu and selecting another class is such a huge hassle if that's the case, it takes what, a few seconds at most? You're going to be spending 30+ minutes on that class, not exactly a big nor something I would consider an inconvenience.

Literally any other key on your keyboard? I have small hands too, even if I hand larger hands I wouldn't be able to reach across my keyboard, but I can still keybind PvP to "P" for example if I wanted to. It's not an ability you'll be using in combat, why do you need split second access to it?

I didn't say that it was a bad idea, just that 10 hotbars is more than enough. What's next, they raise it to 20 and then some glamour addict is going to come strolling in and ask they raise it to 50 because they can't fit all their glamour sets or several dozen mounts. There's a point where it's on you to organize things, or so I like to believe.

Why not have a hotbar with 12 macros that modify certain hotbars?

Press one button, your 5th hotbar changes to the PvP bar. Press another one, it changes to a bunch of gearsets.

While I don't have Gear Sets... but I do use all 10 bars. So more bars would be nice... But we gotta cut that life support first.

Edit: I tell a slight lie. 2 hotbars are used purly for all Classes/Jobs in the game.

I don't think having it as an option would hurt anyone. There're people who don't need 20 bars, that's fine, just don't use it. But having 20 bars for people who want it isn't gonna affect anybody.

I find it inconvenient, it's a matter of personal preference, but it's a pretty popular one. You can macro minions to things like gearsets (I literally just read this in another thread a couple minutes ago, so now I have a fun activity for tomorrow). So, for me, that's another reason to have them on my hotbar. Miner + Kobolder minion is the cutest thing ever. o3o

If it's past the 6 key on my keyboard, I don't touch it (unless I'm typing). This is a personal quirk of mine that I've always had. I know it sounds weird, my boyfriend finds it really weird too. But it is something I have done in every MMO. One hand on the mouse and the other one on the movement keys, even when doing something like crafting or putting things on the board. It's just a really old habit. So in games like FFXIV where I can customize my hotbars with sub menus, it makes things for me much, much easier.

They don't need to add another 10, 5 at most. I think you can only have 45 gearsets max currently, so I don't think we'll need 50 hotbars. Besides, if you don't need more hotbars, you don't need to turn them on. It's not like other people's hotbars are gonna jump onto your screen and start eating your skills or something. XD If they ever do decide to add more, their effect on you and others who don't need/desire it will be pretty minimal.

the ability to manipulate what we do have would be very nice and allow for a more complete customization of the ui , very much like some addons did in wow and other mmos. Not just change from vertical to horizontal (and vice versa) but also the ability to break up bars into smaller ones and move them anywhere I choose as well.

It wouldn't hurt anyone and tbh none of us have any power to say what truly is or is not necessary. Unless we are all clones of one another people have to exect the differences wanted.
I think our ui needs a lot of work ,they have hashed out a functional game, now its time to polish it. If se wants to satisfy more players then at present they should be listening to changes like these suggested. And we all should be supporting more variety even with simple additions like this instead of questioning it.

#6 = macros to bark out commands, when doing content. As voice chat isn't always available.

#8 = Scripts, LB, some gear sets
#9 = all Gear sets
#10 = all Gear sets

2560x1440 res with everything on small so it doesn't take up much space keeping everything up 100% of the time.

Really? No this is not needed, I'd rather have more inventory space that does not involve throwing money then uneeded actions bars for all 60s DOW and DOH users. Half of those you mentioned are pretty unnecessary.

.. Maybe you just need to manage your hot bars better? There's no real need for most stuff to even be on your hot bar, honestly. The only things that should be on your hot bars are things you use excessively frequently.

Crafting requires a lot of switches in a short time period. I'll also swap to nin for running speed, then to whatever I wanted to be on. Short term swaps also for showing off glamours, buying time items, swap when DF pops, etc.. Having gear sets at hand is much nicer than flipping through menus (controller user here though..)

I don't think there needs to be more either...I haven't even filled all of the 10 and I am already out of things to put on them anyway..

I personally wouldn't mind having a few more Vertical bars, but I know I'm the minority on that front.

Shared hotbars remain even if you switch classes.

I could use a few more myself.

Also they said the armory system would be great to have per job layouts a long time ago. That would also be helpful.
Also for all the people that say... it's not needed. It just doesn't effect you however the people that use what is available to them use it all.


As for having all gear sets on my hot bars, It helpful... in that any given day I login and normally play BRD as my main but after doing a few things for Tomes. I randomly pick a jobs to do things on to level them.

Crafting, Well 7 of the 8 jobs are switched often. because I craft all items needed to craft something from raw items I normally gather myself. so to craft a signal item, I sometimes need to craft 1-3 other items to craft the final item.

shared hotbars are parts of the ten hotbars, no matter how many bars you made them shared between classes, it's not gonna give you more than ten hotbars.

There's no way pvp actions, hunt stuff (I'm guessing just call macros?), or defensive healing all need their own hotbars. Putting dye and glamour on a hotbar doesn't even make it more convenient.

Echoing what others have said, you're just extremely inefficient with your hotbars.

Can someone explain #6-8 for me? Namely in the case of #6, where you already have a bar for PvP skills, and there's only a few abilities at most that you might want to add to a hotkey that isn't in normal use in PvE.

You do realize you can make a macro that will literally change a single skill on a hotbar right? If you chain 10 of those commands together, you can have as many hotbars as you have macro slots (100).

I use these all the time as SMN and SCH to change the hotkeys for the 5 different types of pets.

　　Replace current cross hotbar with cross hotbar [number].

　　The subcommand "current" can be used to specify your current class.
　　The subcommand "share" can be used instead of a class to specify your shared hotbar.

shared slots don't overwrite the unshared slots of the same bar. So if you switch a bar between shared and unshared it will be like 2 bars.
