Where are all the " I main AST" we used to read here even before heavensward was launched ? I have barely seen any AST in instances for weeks ? Did people give up on it being their main ?
Seems like dinosaurs...extinct.

Im too good and awsome of an AST that i dont show my awsomeness to scrubs
I see AST all the time... maybe you're just goin crazy
We're still here. Keep in mind AST is still a minority healer population, so you were probably just unlucky.
Also all the players who like to brag about their healing top-tier content as AST have left to brag about their tanking A3S as Paladins now.
Loving AST. It's a lot of fun. I feel like I speed up those shitty exp roulette's by like 10 minutes.
Hi, nice to meet you.
I am still a main AST. I go in DF Experts as AST, I play in Frontlines all the time as AST. I play as AST when my group beats A1 Savage every week (though I go SCH for A2S).
I see Astrologian's all the time on Balmung.
I just came out of a trial that had two ASTs..
Even if it's my main job (first 60), i don't play it much anymore since i've absolutly no good looking outfit for her. The best i got is the ilvl110 pvp and it's not enough satisfactory.
The weapon sheath is a real problem to glamour this job.
I main AST, I'm just taking a mega break until Halloween event/3.1.
They don't feel the need to post since they were balanced. Amazing how feedback can work sometimes.
Because anyone good enough to AST cleared all the content already and has nothing to talk about?
I got all the heavenwards server firsts on my server while raiding casual hours, what else do you want me to do.
Sorry your still progressing A3 and use whm
I'm still leveling up but most of the healers when I'm SMN have been AST.
I insanely love AST, I went threw all of 2.0 without a favorite job. I just drifted from one job to the next. AST is first job in XIV that I legitimately love.
I just dont have much to say about it. Sure cards could be a little better, spire is dumb, Noc Sect lacks hot healing of fairy but all that has already been said. I have zero to add to it.
I think most other AST feel the same. There are things we dont love about AST but buff we got were so beyond our expectation it feel almost greedy to even mention it at this point. So we just want to play without making to much waves. Happily loving our job.
i dont main healer
but when i play healer, i use to be WHM
now i shift to AST
although i dont particularly like my Nocturnal sect, the only time i m using it is when my party have another Diurnal sect AST
yet, i found it more fun to play then my WHM
and actually i see a lot more AST than WHM and SCH lately
I still see them, although not quite as frequently as I see WHM or SCH. I'm thinking that the AST group is likely the same group that farmed Alexander Savage and are now burned our or playing something else until the patch releases. Either that or loyal WHMs or SCHs switched back to their original job after getting a taste of what AST had to offer, if they felt it wasn't for them.
Personally, I don't AST dungeons. AST has no AoE mitigation (like Holy and Shadow Flare) and even their DPS on bosses is pretty... meh. I like to DPS in dungeons so I find it easier to run them on my main (WHM).
However, for trials or Alexander Normal (aside from A2 since it's trash and, again, I like to DPS), I totally run AST. I also run AST and WHM pretty evenly in PvP.
I ast in dungeon and it was pretty fun. I lvled up 60 yesterday. Gravity isn't as fun as Holy but it cost less mana. I Saw a lot of ast doing fate.
I prefer noc sect but it look like it's less powerfull than Diurnal.
I think most of these people who have AST as a main are bored of the content right now and so are not online. I am one of them.
That, or they already leveled their AST to 60 and are now leveling other classes so you don't see them as much in leveling dungeons. Or not many of them in hm trials since majority of folks who run them seem to be light farming and, well, no relic for AST. I just light farmed my SCH relic and about 10% of my co-healers were AST. Neither of those suggest the lack of AST majors, just that the initial influx of people who level it is over since they are max level.
I think you'll see more AST pop up in the next tier of content.
I assume many started to gear up WHM or SCH with their eso gear and decided to stick with it.
I still main BLM/AST, am very happy with it and don't see any reason why anyone would abandon AST :)
I find it a bit confusing though that I rarely see ASTs in leveling dungeons anymore. According to some info graphic, only a really small percentage of players already have their AST at lvl 60, but all I get in roulettes are those useless SCHs .-.
I can't do as many DPS as AST, it's bit frustrating
It's a fun job though...
They get despell like YEARS too late, and they get offended when you actually ask them to heal past what the fairy does by herself...despite being healers.
But you can raise the other's dps by a great deal if you play your cards right (haha. oh god I suck at making stupid puns..)
And for bigger groups of monsters, AST AoE does pretty decent dmg (in CS), although of course in general I know it's not comparable to what SCHs can do :)
The thing with the card holder that annoys me the most is that it retains the cards even when the weapon is wielded. If they could make it change the texture (or however it's implemented) to have empty card pockets when the cards are whirling around the globe, it would make tad more sense.
And the worst is that the pvp gear (ilvl100-110) they made for astro doesn't match the card holder. It goes through the texture. I really don't understand why they felt like they need to make that kind of annoying accessory. It could have just been on the wrist or even compltely inexistant.
I main astro +1 here
The card holder is the the worst! It looks unnatural the way it juts out so stiffly from your waist-- and what's up with the cards being placed side by side in it? Not the best use of space by any means. If swords in this game don't have scabbards, I don't think 6 cards need one. I remember seeing prototype designs somewhere for how AST might hold the cards and it was on a wirey looking contraption that was on the wrist/arm. I feel like you can see evidence of that old concept on the AST relic hands (the sleeves). The one arm has what looks like a metal loop on it?
If the star globes weren't so awesome looking, I'd probably select the "hide weapon when sheathed option" due to that card holder. I gave up SCH for AST and haven't looked back. My static is on the last phase of AS3 with WHM/AST (noct) combo and we are doing just fine. AST is fabulous, despite a few short comings that are probably only bigger issues for inexperienced healers. It is very rewarding to play this job well.
I started maining AST when 3.0 was released and main it to this day. I absolutely love it.
Yes, and it can't be used more than once per minute. You know how often I get poisoned in Toto-Rak, Brayflox and the like? I get about 15 poison for every despell the SCH can use below lvl 40 (and that's assuming they use Selene at all). That, paired with the utter belief that they are a dps class and healing is solely done by the fairy, has caused me so many wipes already, it's not even funny anymore.
(then again, any healing class has their bad apples. they are just a lot more prominent with the SCHs ;))
Well, the cardholder wouldn't be bad if it wasn't pure cosmetic. Would be cool if the cards orbiting the astral globe would fly out the sheath, orbit the weapon and glide back into the sheath as you put your astral globe away. Maybe in the future.
I actually am someone who gave up on AST. xD It all seemed very fun, and then I realised I love DPSing so I stuck to Scholar.
Also my healing partner is a WHM and I'm not a huge fan of Nocturnal Sect. Mitigation is not comparable to deployed Adlos. Card buffs are nice but I'd rather just DPS myself. ;D
I love playing the AST character, gave up my SCH for it, but I do still see quite a few AST around. It used to be that in 8 man content, there was a 50% chance the other healer was also an AST and you would have to do that "You going Di or Noc" dance at the beginning. Now it is like 20%. I think it is because even on AST, once loot and eso capped for week, I level my other classes... which I think most of the other AST are doing as well.
