Translation of Dragonspeak names compilation

Thanks to Fernehalwes we now have dragonspeak translations and informations (hype)

The point of this post is to Translate and even try to explain some of the meanings of texts, area locations, lore names, etc. Any help is welcome !

Areas:


-Churning mists:

Eil Tohm : literally translates to wicked/treacherous bring. (will come back to this one later) its pretty much the whole eastmost part of the churning mists

Tharl Oom Khash : Crystal from Regret. Well this is a building where Ratatoskr would have perished by Thordan and its knights. It has also massive Corrupted lightning clusters (In Darkscale fates they empower him)

Ohl Tahn : ''call stand'' (will come back to this one later. Its the west side of churning mists

Gron Rhei: ''tree pray'' , could be praying tree? its in north of zenith. (fun fact, there is a dragonet npc in a fate called ''Rhei end'' wich translates literally to pray end[could be like,ending/final pray? since its about a darkscale attacking him/ him running to zenith or so, i honestly don't recall])


Asah : its the ''midway to zenith stop'' where are some moogles. Asah stands for Redemption (i'm not sure but i think i had read about this before today, maybe from a moogle NPC or so?)

- The Aery

Akh Fahl Lye : First boss room, stands to circle/fate fall/drop light. First boss is Rangda, "Rangda is the demon queen of the leyaks in Bali, according to traditional Balinese mythology" (thanks wikipedia and ethys!) the boss casts mostly lighting element moves. Taking in mind that dragons have a polished language. ''faling light'' could be Lighting/thunder. therefore it can mean ''Lightning circle, Circle of lightning/thunder"

Ten Oohr : Second boss room "Rotten root/center". Gyascutus is in real life a type of beetles, and taking in mind it uses poison type moves like ''fall of men'' and so.... Yeah, rotten root/center does makes a bit of sense. But most important thing, it uses a skill called original sin, and ''serpents apple''. As corruption can be used as rotting, this boss is probably a reference to the snake that made Eve eat the Apple, thus the original sin.

Errn Scorh : its the room before Nidhogg and it stands for ''Men punishment'' therefore ''Punishment of Men". Aery its an Happy place.

- Dravarian Forelands

Ehs dath: empty/hole/alone inside Its a cavern, located in Forelands, being pretty much a cavern accessed by the outside of sohm al (not mourn).

- Sohm al wich means itself ''promissed slumber" we can find only one, the last boss room. Tioman's, called Hess Afah wich means "gaze/witness/see eternal" or it could mean such like ''Eternal witness/gaze" taking in mind, this is probably one of the highest points of Sohm Al, and being built by Men.

Akh Afah Amphiteatre : Where shiva battle happens. Means ''eternal circle/fate". SPECULATION: can be a reference to the dragonsong ''Tell me why create a circle none can break"- Refering to Thordan actions. Therefore simbolizing either the unending war. (but there are the statues of Landlord and Skylord there, so i'm not so sure.)

Akh Morn : AKA Tank killer of t13/ Massive hitting skill Of bahamuth (wich is now usable , in a smaller scale, by SMN's and called ''Deathflare''. Akh morn means ''circle/fate (of) death" wich in a SPECULATION is interesting that an important meracydia dragon, t5 boss. Twintania has an (back there) dangerous tank killer called ''Death sentence". Does not seem far to think that ''fate of death'' is a version of ''Death sentence" but again, SPECULATION.

Awesome! What does the little dragon's name mean? Khal Myk ? I got "weak...something" ? I probably spelled it wrong too.

I'm curious about Esh Thom in Azys Lla.

The things I was most interested to learn about were the Akh Afah Amphitheater and Bahamut's Akh Morn attack.

Akh Afah Amphitheater translates to "Eternal Circle / Fate Amphitheater," probably referencing how the Dragonsong War is meant to be an eternal punishment upon Ishgard for Thordan's sins. Would that we knew this before and could make the connection earlier.

Bahamut's Akh Morn move similarly translates to "Eternal Death." Guess he reserves it for people who really piss him off.

i completly forgot about those two, but Akh (in akh morn stands for circle, therefore, circle/fate of death, on a second thought, its funny that twintania and ((i think its rage of meracydia) whatever, twintania add from t13 use a skill called ''Death Sentence" ... How did i not see this before?!)

since afah is the world for ''eternal'' , or it would be ''Afah morn''

Regarding the Akh afah one. Not sure it can be as a punishment. In the dragonsong (the song) there is a line that goes like ''Tell me why create, a circle none can break''. that is in fact, refering to thordan and its actions. To Nidhogg, yeah its a way to punish who came after thordan. BUT in the amphitheatre itself we see the simbol that connects both skylord and landlord. (men and dragon)

You can say that nidhogg wants to just keep hurting ishgard. But not ysayle and most of the heretics, since even Icehearth wants to end the war. Either it being named before or after thordan, i don't think its meant as a punishment, but as OR a way to simbol the union of both races (wich ironicaly ended) OR just a subtle reference to the dragonsong.

Got stuck in the Aery for a while today, noticed a couple mobs have draconic names.

A type of aevis is called Dran Sorn Gahr, or "Hateful Army Dragon." There's also the bigger, wingless, Hulk-like enemies called Nehd Sorn Gahr, "Hateful Army Leader."

... the Aery sure is a cheerful place, ain't it?

I was wondering this for a while, since the phonetics are similar, but it looks like "Mor Dhona" doesn't actually mean anything in Dragonspeak, does it?

i don't think it does directly, might be a miss translation or so IF it is (like willhom river)

but i don't think it is correct dravanian because Mor has no N or H , saying if its a living thing or not,wich only happens with light (lys) and other words like, of, from, in , with, to etc...

Dhona has both N and H wich i don't think it never happens. (except in dream)

but in other way, they are not listed in the dictionary

i could extrapolate Mor being ''morn''(death) plus... ravenants toll.... i don't know for sure, thats about all ill speculate.

Its possible that it might had been a basterisation of its original name. Like the Danneroad

What about the dragons at Anyx Trine?
