Icentives To Play Old and New Content

While I was waiting 54 minutes 35 seconds for a party to run Odin I was thinking of ideas that SE could add that would give people a reason to keep playing through old and newer content.

What would be great incentives and additions to the game are to add gear sets and weapons from the heroes and villains from previous FF games. SE wouldn't have to add all of them at once however, they could add 5 hero sets and 2 villain sets in one patch and add more as time goes on. The idea is adding, for example, Irvine Kinneas chest piece can drop off the last boss in Tam Tara and his legs can drop of the last boss in Wanderers Palace. All weapons can drop off different Primal bosses etc...
They could add certain vanity items to fates as well.

This is an idea that could breathe life back into older and newer content that people have zero reason to run anymore so they don't. I'd be one of the first ones out their farming some of the gear :D

It would be a win win for everyone.

Ironically, there's probably more incentive to run Odin than most older primals since he drops glamour stuff.

54 mins????? Honestly I would've grabbed 2 other FC members and unsynced that in 5 mins. eff doing that content through DF.

This is true however a lot of people don't seem to run it that much anymore. The idea is to give incentives to run all the older content.

And when people have all the new glamour stuff, then what? SE has to add MORE glamour stuff to the same old trials to keep people playing them?

It's just an idea since there has been a lot of suggestions on how to make older content viable again and no.

Oh, I'm sure when the new relic quest comes out in November, SE will load that with plenty of farming of old content.

All 4- and 8-man old content can now be run unsynced, and while some fights can still be annoying (Titan, Leviathan etc. with insta-death mechanics), they have the ability to be run with a few friends so you can get whatever you're after.

The content I see a lot of people asking to be made some kind of relevant again is Crystal Tower - it still requires 24 people to want to do it, can't be unsynced, and is in general just realistically impossible to get into.

My personal preference for solving that particular issue is a CT Roulette, let it award a few tomestones of Law and Esoterics, and just let it be an alternative method for capping your tomestones compared to running the same two Expert dungeons again and again and again.

every piece of content should drop nearly exclusive crafting mats. when people need those mats they'll run the content.

they can start by taking all those Zodiac quest items and turning them into 100% drops that are crafting mats.

Technically all Primals drop "glamour" stuff, just depends on you taste.

I'd like to see primal-themed armor and barding (other than shiva and ramuh)

Leviathan too. With the exception of the last boss of the 3.0 MSQ, every primal since Levi has had a barding.

Ponies, Glamour, Carbontwine/Carboncoats, Encrypted Tomestones and Gear for alts. You can run most of the content with 3-4 people, stuff like T9 would probably need like 5-6 because of mechanics. The harder stuff or as somebody mentioned earlier insta-death mechanics or stuff that requires some dps (Odin Ifrit EX etc) to make sure you get through those phases would need people. There's a lot of incentives to run old content a friend and myself 2 manned T6 to get him some glamour gear him a pld and me a drk, was pretty fun.

Rather than add specific items to specific content (which as a poster mentioned earlier, once people got those items, they'd become irrelevant again) they'd be better off adding a currency to all non-current content, and make all the new glamours etc bought with that currency.

It has several upsides
1) Specific items aren't paired to specific content, so you're not stuck doing a content you loathe because that's where the item you really want happened to end up
2) Gets people running any and all old content rather than just the couple places that had stuff added. Players can play whatever content they enjoy/miss
3) All content that becomes outdated in later patches automatically has reason to keep running it without them having to add in more new stuff
4) One consolidated place for them to add fun new things to the game that they might be holding back because they don't know where to fit it

I really like this idea a lot. Well put and a much better way to do it.

Add roulettes for some of it such as a new 24 person content roulette with a mystery box reward that can yield things such as:

NQ lv50+ food
NQ xpots/draco pots
5star/character Triad cards
minions obtained through ventures
a second shot at the minions from the raids themselves
1 unique minion
1 unique mount
timeworn treasure maps

Can add the mystery box to high level roulette, leveling (when queued as level 60,) MSQ, etc

That's probably because the margin for failure is extremely high for Odin. I got my clear and swore to never do it again.

People don't duty find it because you can just grab 3 friends and go in unsynced and clear anything that was at level 50 in 5 minutes or less to get whatever items you want.

Level 50 duty finder will never be a thing again due to this. If you don't have friends who want to do it with you, I recommend using party finder.

lol you'd have a hard time killing Odin at 60 with just 3 other people. Believe me I tried we needed at lest 6,7

basically, what you're saying is they should keeping selling more stuff with Poetic tomes.

your upsides aren't upsides, the first two points are a major downside. no one will run any old content that is "hard". they'll only run the one that gives them the most "currency" in the least amount of time. why would anyone do Odin when they can do Ifrit HM in half the time?

3 and 4 are not even really valid. if they make it a habit of putting a single crafting mat on every dungeon final boss and trial boss, they won't have to add more new stuff later. everything is already consolidated with crafting materials and it's super flexible. people not running WP enough? create more recipes that use Tonberry King Blood.

We did it with myself(Warrior), a dragon, a black mage, and a Scholar in 180s. I just assumed with everyone having 200 gear, it'd be possible to 3 man.

I'll probably end up getting the clear by going in unsynced with just a couple people but I don't want to do it that way. I like the challenge of Odin and it is a fun fight. I usually play till pretty late at night so the Q's are longer anyway.

Honestly, my FC mates and I find the challenge interesting in trying to beat these fights unsynced with small parties. We have been trying to 3 man Ifrit EX(last nail phase is our "wall" at the moment, we can do it 4man successfully) We have lots of pics on our forums of crazy clears dating back to 3 man/ no healer bray hm runs in 110 gear. Try it out sometime.

That's great! =) I am sure it is a lot of fun with just 3 or 4 people. I mentioned it in my FC yesterday and a few people seem interested. I appreciate the feedback.
