Some eso pieces are not so good.

I wish the upgrades over i190 were more clear. Sometimes I think I'll lose some dps numbers if I'll upgrade. For example:

Prototype Gordian Gambieras Of Casting
Vitality 48
Intelligence 53
Spell Speed 33
Critical Hit Rate 47

Antiquated Caller's Sandals
Vitality 54
Intelligence 57
Spell Speed 37
Accuracy 53

I don't need more Accuracy (gonna be a wasted stat) and I doubt 4 Intelligence is better than losing 47 Crits. It also gives +9 defence, but my MD is 1373 already so I don't really need it.
So what should I do in this case, buy a whole bunch of nothing useful to improve my performance for 495 eso just because it has higher ilevel?

Well, main stat is pretty powerful so it's worth running the numbers to actually see which is better. Might be an upgrade, might not be.

I ran into a similar problem as WHM. I wanted a pure spell speed build since it would be more useful to my static. Have you looked at any of the crafted gear and considered pentameld alternatives? I haven't checked to see how viable that would be, but it's certainly worth a shot. From my understanding, at least pre-HW, that's what we were supposed to be doing, anyway.

Or just keep what you have. So long as you meet the item level requirement and there's no noticeable difference in your healing/DPS output, I'd recommend focusing on whatever stats you think are best.

You can't necessarily look at gear on a piece by piece basis: Look at the entire set of gear at that ilv (in this case, 210 eso and savage gear). There's also times when having a (overall) non-optimal piece is better, depending on the rest of the gear you have.

If you're not a raider (which is what I'm guessing) then your stats ultimately don't matter and just do what you want...

If you are a raider...you should go look at the smn bis lists and decide whether you'll need that acc for savage or not

The 190 boots are a tiny bit better for damage, but you won't notice a huge difference. Non-savage players will probably be able to upgrade eso gear with 3.1 or 3.15, in which case the caller's sandals would be better than the 190. But maybe you'll be able to get pink 210 boots on the floating island stuff too that could be itemized way better than the eso ones... I dunno. I started just grabbing eso things for vanity rather than worrying about stats because the mch ones are mostly horribly itemized. :(

Secondary stats are pretty minor. You can stack all parry and do 97% of your optimal dps. 3.0 scaling seems to have bigger dr. Check out blue gartr they actually have math. These forums are all speculation and feels.

Yes, I agree. AST has some good stats, but looking at WHM and SCH, they kind of got stuck with the opposite of what WHMs and SCHs normally want.

Last I heard there aren't new stat weights for SMN yet. I've only seen em for drg and mnk so far (I'd love to see more if I'm out of date, though, since I don't main drg or mnk).

But the new stat weights for those classes hover between .1 and .16 per main stat. Assuming the lowest end of the spectrum (.10) for the sake of argument, that'd still put 47 points of crit at 4.7 int. He gains 4 points of spell speed from the i200 piece, though. Assuming a high stat weight for sspd (.15, again for the sake of argument), that'd account for .6 int, but the net int change would still be positive by .1. So in a vacuum (and assuming the stat weights favor the i200 piece more so than they probably do) the i190 boots would be marginally better.

@OP if you can lose the accuracy elsewhere, then that'd be ideal. Mix and match some stuff with ariyala for a bit.

AF2 body for ninja has accuracy and skillspeed on it.

I want critical and determination. even if I need more accuracy in some fights, I'll just switch my accessories for it.

Stat weights changed with 3.0. What are the diminishing returns in that link? You can't compare 2.0 and 3.0 crit because it's weighted differently now.

That's... been pretty much the norm for SCH gear, though ^^; I remember struggling to find ANY level 50 SCH weapon that had Crit as highest secondary. (Result: Allagan, High Allagan, Ramuh, Dreadwyrm. With me not being a current-tier raider (beat t9 the week before they added echo to FCoB), that left Ramuh weapon ^^; Went with the Ironworks once those came out, of course. While it wasn't the highest stat, it at least had a crit rate... And ended up melding my relic with maxed out crit + accuracy (for those times when I'd know beforehand I'd have plenty of time to DPS). Exchanging that one, despite not being a zeta, for a HW weapon made me cry ^^;

Pure tome gear sets have never been bis as long as I've been playing at least, I wouldn't expect that to change any time soon

Tha's how it has always been.
The best gear is only reachable by combining tomestone and raiding equipment.
Getting completely tomestone gear is only worth it for glamour purposes and 10 iLvls don't mean anything, if the piece doesn't have stats that are important for you. :)

As far as DRG goes, I was taught early on that Str, Det, and Crit were all I needed to worry about keeping up during the 2.x era. Now it seems like every Item I get is Acc+SkS, Det+Sks, or Crit+Sks, so is skill speed all of a sudden relevent to DRG? Cause I keep seeing major drops in my DPS with the amounts to Crit and Det I'm losing to Skill speed here. It's like the extra weapon power and defence isn't worth the loss of stats going from 180 to 200 equipment.

I'm getting all the Esoteric Gear anyway just incase it makes a better combo with the Void Ark gear but all in all I'm almost entirely disappointed with the Esoteric Gear and 3.0 Gear in general. I had full Asurian 180 gear before my stats were as good as they were at i130 in 2.55.

So am I missing something or does the Dragoon Gear right now just suck?

I ran into this issue with bard. I stopped upgrading at iLvl 193 because the Eso pieces just had way less crit hit than the Alexander pieces. I'm keeping the Alexander head, gloves, waist, and most of the accessories. Only the weapon, body, legs, and feet felt like real upgrades on bard.

That's fine, I'm happy with my high crit hit build and it lets me focus on getting eso pieces that actually make sense for my SMN and SCH.

S.Speed boost dot dmg too, lowers the GCD and of course faster casting speed for skills (that as drg u have none :P)

10ilvls is a pretty nice upgrade as a healer, I care more about MND then any other stat so if it has more mind than it's mine. Although there is such a thing as too much PIE..

So don't spend the tomes. Or spend em and mess around on ariyala and optimize your accuracy. I don't see the problem. It's not a worse piece of gear in the right set. And if you don't wanna mess with your set then just don't buy it.

Never had a problem. With my GCD. And though I wouldn't mind the Extra speed boost with BotD, I'm not sacrificing my DPS to do it.

All you non raiders will like the gear more when you can upgrade it to ilvl 210 when 3.1 hits. As for Raiders, well, enjoy your band aid gear until you get some Savage pieces. But yeah, Eso getitng them upgrade items in 1.5 months so look forward to it I guess

Secondaries were never very strong, no matter what the all crit+ det relic fanatics may have said in the past. With 3.0 they've only been made weaker (presumably because stat scaling over the course of the entire 3.x arc would have brought crit rates up too high and GCD down too low eventually). That said, dropping a secondary stat completely (already capped accuracy) would probably have a similar effect to the 4 INT difference. I'd definitely not bother with the eso boots, unless for some reason you want them for glamour purposes (I personally hate the Goetia set's look).

Really the situation may prove helpful in gearing up multiple classes without feeling like you gimped some of them.

At same Main stat values for dps, Crit > all.

Bis was always a mix of raid gear and tombs.
For SMN boots the ones that drop from A2S is really nice.
I bought head as it drops from A3S and not close to beating it yet so rather have that extra int tell I get that drop.

BIS GEAR is a mix of tokens and raid drops , so only raiders can have full bis....nothing new :P

The strength in those not so good individual upgrades is the ability to use other pieces.

Your are trying to fit a filler item into your set. The item alone is not useful but let you remove another piece with accuracy to get more crit than you have at this moment, or also, get more main stat and secondary.

You can blame SE for put that shit stats on eso boots. Just you should try to go alex 2 savage and get gordian casting boot which have Acc and crit. And another useful stat => Vit.

Nobody forces you to spend your eso tomes in a piece you don't need.
