An Idea for Celestial Opposition

I know that the Dev Team said that changing abilities and turning them into something that other healers already have it's something that they're not going to do. Anyway, also if I'm happy about how Astrologian is working now, I really would love to see Celestial Opposition reworked. I know that all the abilities have something related to astrology, so I tought that maybe Celestial Opposition could make us gain the effect of one of the essential dignities, the Triplicity.
This is how it could be:

Celestial Opposition
Stuns all nearby enemies. Duration: 4s (PvP 2s). Reduces Enmity.
Addictional Effect: Triplicity
1. extends duration of beneficial effects cast on self and party members by 9 seconds.
2. Next Helios or Aspected Helios will be instant.
3. Restores 5% MP and TP of all party members

I know that there is something similar with Assize, that is maybe the ability that I would have loved to have as Astrologian. The difference, anyway, is that is more supporting-oriented, because of the effects this ability would have on the beneficial effects and MP/TP. At the same time, next healing spell would be instant, but would cost MP.
I also know that it could be considered "OP" but anyway, I think that a lvl60 ability should be very powerful and I already talked about it in another thread.

Another version of my idea is:

Celestial Opposition
Stuns all nearby enemies. Duration: 4s (PvP 2s). Reduces Enmity.
Addictional Effect: Triplicity
1. extends duration of beneficial effects cast on self and party members by 9 seconds.
2. Next healing spell will cost half MP.
3. Restores HP of self and party members. Cure Potency: 200


I would love to read your opinions about it. Anyway, I don't want you to consider this thread as a complaining thread because it's not my intention. I like thinking about abilities and how they could work and they could be and I think that maybe it's usefull if people give their opinions so the Dev Team can improve the game day by day.

Just as I read yuor post I was thinking: CO could really have a bigger impact. Specially on bosses.

Considering that, your MP/TP refresh idea and the instant cast of some skill is plausible. Only for you. No way someone frozen in time would recover MP/TP/HP.
Now considering everyone is frozen and time flows for you normally, I guess you could refresh yourself for some HP/MP, also CO could put all your skills on cooldown ready to use. This would make CO much more tactic and of course it's cooldown would be raised again... but I'd still go for it.

Thank you! Anyway, to avoid problems with the lore, the refresh and the healing power would be related with the essential dignity Triplicity. When you stop time you gain the effect of this Dignity, it's not stopping time that you are healed and get the refresh :)
This was my idea.

I would be happy with this extra:

- restore 10% of your mp
- reset your stance during 10s (so we could change in middle of fight if we wished and then lock the one you selected)
- reduce enmity (if LA wont get that enmity like whm anytime soon)
- keeping both stun and extend timers of course

With this this would be a good lvl 60, because as is now is one of worse spells between 51-60.

I'd personally like CO to stun and reduce cooldowns for the AST by like 20 seconds or something. It would end up as a sort of hard CC, but also a way for AST to refresh their MP, fastcast, and buff abilities.

Essentially, a player could draw a card, use it, CO, wait or do other actions for 10 seconds, and draw a second card. Of course this applies to all CDs of the AST except CO, so the more CDs you have expended, the more effective CO will be. It provides for some very good burst buffs/utility which is the AST's forte.

I would absolutely love to see Celestial essentially make any AST card buffs into an AOE effect, but at their current level/intensity.

For example: You throw an Enhanced (effect increased) Balance on your groups' top DPS, use Celestial and that Enhanced Balance extends to all people in the area of effect. Essentially, like Royal Road but without the decrease in power.

This would be in addition to the two effects it already has (stun and 5 second buff extension).

Yes. This IMO needs to be a thing in Nocturnal if AST wants to be competitive vs. SCH (as an answer to Deployment Tactics and Fey Covenant as you could Spread a Bole). Maybe add Nocturnal Field from A. Benefic to the list of effects that you could AOE once every 2m.
Diurnal can keep its time extension effect (maybe add another 5s for good measure) as HoTs already benefit from it, which you can't really say about shields.

Ewer, CO and LA that can be combo'd with spear.... The day CO restores 10% of the caster MP I better see on the same patch notes asylum gaining refresh.

These AST topics are getting a bit ridiculous. AST can already do nearly the same exact healing as a white mage on top of the party buffs it can add and not to mention that it's single target dps is nearly identical to WHM. How much more do you guys want? Your class is no longer weak and it doesn't suck. Stop asking to be more powerful. That's like a WAR complaining because they can't do enough dps.

AST doesnt do the exact same healing as WHM, you should have a word with the cooldowns "Divine Seal" and "Presence of Mind"

they also have weaker AoE healing, and less range on them

Celestial opposition should have been changed when ast got buffed before, because it is very underwhelming, only being useful for extending partywide balance, and luminiferous aether. its stun is pretty much not relevant at all. AST is no longer weak and no longer suck, but is that a reason to have lackluster skills with pathetic range and negligible effects?
Nah. i dont even particularly agree with these suggestions, but CO is still pretty bad

Last I remember, all of AST's heals cost less MP than WHM's counterparts even though they have the same potency. This was one of the reasons why they gave WHM the 10% MP restore with Assize, so it stays competitive with AST.

They had the 10% from the beginning with Assize. Initially AST heals didn't have the same potency. So, no, that's not the reason.

Honestly, considering things like Dissipation, One Ilm Punch, and Freeze (yeah, forgot about that one, didn't you?), it's pretty clear SE is okay with having a skill or two in a job's set that doesn't really do anything. At least ours is worth using.

Hell, let's just add AoE Death and Reraise with no weakened and everyone gets an extra 1 million gil, while we're at it?

Dissipation is totally used, but one ilm punch and freeze, are good examples.

The problem is, CO is NOTHING like one ilm punch or freeze, both of those are very easily defined as pvp/solo abilities, whereas CO is still useful for pve, its just not really good. its a lackluster final ability that for some reason stuns (which you will almost never use it for) and gives a tiny duration increase for prexisting AST effects. its obvious that it IS meant to be used, but its just not good, from its pathetic range, to its pathetic effect, its just a bad ability.

As Ashelia said, they had assize even before AST got buffed. you also forget freecures. whitemage gets free cure 2 procs, whereas all the AST proc gets is an instant cast, full mana cost benefic 2. WHM has incredibly strong MP regen because of this, much much better than an AST (not counting ewer, because you can never actual count on drawing an ewer when you need one)

I was thinking about something...
What if CO had no cooldown but a 3sec cast time?
The stun would be used as Holy's stun for some mitigation, the 5 sec increase on bonus would only keep things flowing...
I can see a scenario where AST would cast Synastry->Asp.Helios, AoE Balance, and keep using CO to extend the effects, but would it be too broken? If CO had no CD and could be spammable, it would cost a lot of MP. How long an AST would be able to keep such a combo?
