One of the main differences between PVP and PVE is our rotations, whilst we still have our burst rotation for PVE this isn't necessary best case for PVP.
I will need help from the community with this so please post your burst rotations for pvp, preferably with potency details and overall time taken t complete.
There are so much complaint's about smn's burst and how "op" it is, with enough job bursts data collected we will be able to compare and see.
Hopefully to help new and experienced players improve, whilst it is impossible to have the ideal rotation available all the time due to long cd's it should at least give you a general idea of whats needed.
Time and time again I have seen a target be unbound with 40% etc hp remaining escape due either poor burst or just no burst at all.

SMN
Pet unsummoned/enkindle on cd
Tri Disaster > Fester 300 > Painflare 200 > Energy Drain 150 > Dreadwyrm Stance > Deathflare 400
Total Potency 1050 + (110 for 1 tick) + (100 if pet available)

Recommended to precast Raging Strike

*Rouse + Spur should ideally be pre-cast, due to spur having same cd time only use Enkindle when both are up

1 v 1 scenarios be sure to make use of pvp skills, when facing another smn and Swiftcast > Bind > Sprint to them > Wither will remove their aetherflow stacks.
Hard casting a bio II/Maisma > Bio > Swiftcast > Bind can also be used to bait an esuna use, leaving tri-disaster to hit maximum dmg unless a healer nearby.

Personally even in PvE I never get how thunder could hit so hard considering its potency and comparing it to Fire/Fire3.
With your first Thunder III you will hit for 35, after the Phantom Dart hit for 180 and the Procced Thunder III has a potency of 429 + 374 DoT at the end of ticks (I considered the 10% Magic Resistance debuff).
Total burst Damage: 644 (+ DoT)
Expected time: 3-4 sec
Recast: 1 min
That is definitively better than the Fire rotation suggested by me expecially if u are out of Crowd control,
because if the target is not slowered of if I anyway can reach him (like using Night Wing) I would be able to hit again with a Fire or Fire III,
or also happened few times that I sacrified Astral Fire 3 for casting a very fast Blizzard 1 to pute 40% heavy, but it is still very situational.

If you're not buffed and none of your hits crit, this sequence will not 100%-0% BRD/MCH/DRG/MNK who use Recouperate.
For this burst to work against healers, silence right after Between The Eyes. Very effective against WHMs, not so good against SCH/AST.

BLM is a little problematic up to me for bursting expecially for LoS problems.
Actually in sealrock I act in few different ways, LathusWHM explained one of them (Thunder spam and continue spamming the procs), but it is not very useful for your party while u will gain a good freedom.
If you want to kill a target with 30-40% of HP while running my rotation is:
Sharpcast > Swiftcast > Phantom Dart 180 > Fire 180 > Fire3 (proc) 240
Total Potency 543, but if I'm not wrong, Astral Fire 3 grants you a 80% damage buff on fire aspected magics ( you will hit 833)
Expected time: 4-5 seconds
Recast: 1 min
Enochian can help with 5% damage buff as Raging too, but atleast Raging is better to be used with Leylines.
You will hit significantly harder if you already are in Astral fire III, but it still fine to punish fleers.

If not when I have to protect tome with my party and just tanks dare to roam near us, I use almost the PvE Rotation, putting when possible Surecast before a Fire4 If I feel chased.
A good suddently damage in those situation is made with
Get Astral Fire3 thanks to a random player >Enochian > Leylines > Sharpcast > Fire 180 > Phantom Dart 180 > Lethargy > Fire 4 280 > Fire3 (proc) 240
Total Potency Considering Astral Fire 3 up: 1610
Expected time: 6 seconds
Recast: 90 Sec
I don't put Phantom Dart Before just because when people get it start to think "I'll be focused", same thing for Fire 4 and Lethargy usually, closer those attacks are and better it will be,
so to use this rotation be sure the target is chasing someone near you but that is NOT you, and it will be fine.
Here Raging is not a waste, even because after you have Leylines and Enochian up, so you can continue fining people.
(In this case usually I use Equanimity too) -

You could also pretend you're a tree and let the opposing team cast your 3 second spells at them undisturbed by line of sight or range. It's fantastic.

For blm if you want highest possible burst in one global , get one firestarter proc, precast raging strikes, get 3 stacks, use enochian, then shoot fire 4 -> firestarter proc + phantom dart combo. 3 stack is 80% more damage? then it is 504 potency + 432 potency + 180 potency = 1116 potency in one global. If you use phantom dart before combo it is 10% more sustained damage, but weaker burst damage 554 potency + 475 = 1029 potency. + enochian is 5% more damage and raging strikes 20%.
