The markets have been really slow, it seems as though there's only a handful of crafter's left.
Im see houses and FC's for sale everyday, people are leaving.

What the hell happened to Goblin?
The Alexander raid has a few goblins tusslin it out.
A few die, few live. Its so/so
Goblin has never been a crowded server, it's a low-mid population server, but it has got some more ppl lately.
I see 10+ Party Finders up at prime time hours lately.
This was NOT the case some months ago before the expansion.
It was not unusual to have only 1 or 2 FATE grinding parties in PF back then.
Market board has always been kinda slow. Besides, right now there are very few reasons to craft in this game (at any server) anyway...
People selling houses exist in all servers and my guess is that most are afraid to lose their houses when the auto-relinquish feature comes with patch 3.1 because they will be away from the game for whatever reason.
Mostly, as aerolol said, Goblin has always been a small town kind of community. It was surprisingly active around when Heavensward dropped, but we've returned to that pre-patch lull, which feels pretty normal to me. If anything, a few raiding groups have moved to more active servers, but the core population is still running around.
Goblin 4 Life! Been here since Beta.
Yes, Goblin is dying. No sense in candycoating it. 1% and omg, two major FC's to our server since forever, server transferred in a mass exodus. 1% has been gone for a while, but you'll still see omg trickling out over the next few days with their pointless "WTS house plot" pfs. I'm not sure why they think anyone is here to buy up the houses. They've already destroyed any semblance of an economy by blowing all their gil into material possessions to take with them when they server transfer.
You can stay here and scream at the top of your lungs "Goblin will be fine!" all you want, but it won't. I know, I've been down that path before. We may look fine right now, but people will keep trickling out at a steady pace until the server becomes barren. Anyone who cares about raid progression, economy, or hunts will leave. There are only about 2 groups on A4 right now, and only about 4 more on A3. When one of my raid members can't make it, I have nobody to choose from to sub for us.
I must admit that I think the same as Arc. I really hope our server can recover from the current mass migration towards high pop servers and would like to help drive people to our good ol' Goblin home as soon as I can afford dedication to such endeavours.
The irony of losing Goblin players because (mostly in my opinion) of a Goblin raid.
I, at least, will remain faithful to Goblin unless the economy goes completely down and the community of crafters srhinks to oblivion. Raiders will come and go, as always. Even if this time, we lost bigger numbers than usual.
The question I will start asking myself is: How can I help my server's community?
Edit: I'd like to add that we might be crying wolf, and that we only feel the void now because of the long patch wait before 3.1. It could've driven raiders that wish for competitivity to move servers, making us feel like the server's going way down than it really is. In that case, it should get lively again with the advent of airship exploration and the new 24man raid.
Long live to Goblins! Have some Illuminati cheese!
Rio! :D
Goblin was dead as a door nail for a very long time. I was surprised to see as many people as I did before transferring out when HW released. Just to illustrate my point, I recognize two players just in this thread alone. The population just isn't big enough to sustain long play lifespans.
Hopefully it picks up again for you guys, though. I'm sure you'll see a spike of activity with 3.1, although it may not be quite as big as normal due to Fallout 4 releasing the same day...
Some of my FC mates (hey Rio!!) and I were having this very conversation a couple days ago. Goblin has always been pretty low-pop and it's usually pretty quiet during patch lulls, but you can't deny the large number of people who have all transferred at once within a short period of time these past couple weeks. My guess is this will only continue though I don't know to what degree.
In my case, it would take my whole FC wanting to leave before it became a real option. I don't plan to leave as we're pretty well established here since launch with our FC house, airships, and friends throughout the server. That said, I can see why many have transferred and can't really blame them, even though it hurts our server in the long run.
I'd love to somehow bring this to the dev's attention, as I wonder if it's even on their radar? Goblin can't be the only server that is steadily leaking players to invariably the same places (i.e. Gilgamesh). My only hope is that SE can think of some way of remedying this problem...though it'll probably just be band-aid server merges in the very distant future when the damage has already been done. :(
If a dev is reading this, please let me know if this is something you're aware of!

This is the most lively Sunday I've seen in a while, lol.

Share some with me Baron! I've come back refreshed after my late night insomnia ramblings~
Hey Kitty o/
And I agree with you, in that Palooka is one of the Goblin players that has been doing her best to help the server. The sheer amount of helpful parties she organized is something to be proud of.
Also, there's nothing wrong with server transferring. If one goes to such lengths, it usually means that they're no longer satisfied by the advantages of a small server and getting too stressed by the inconvenients. FFXIV is supposed to be fun, so why would you stay somewhere if you're not having fun anymore.
I hope you guys are having fun in Leviathan :)
(Rem stalking mode activate /!\)
I think the general population of Goblin is still healthy enough to be a fun server, the problem is we're leaking hardcore raiders and crafters like nobody's business. A lot of active but casual FC's have recently left too, so I'm not really having the same feeling of recognizing people everywhere I go which is one of the things I came to love.
Perhaps our server will get merged with another smaller server, or with any luck we will get some people from the EU data centre because Goblins are now an awesome part of the story! (and you know that's how people pick!)
And that guy above me shit talking Palooka, she's one of the few people who genuinely care about this server and is constantly trying to help others, build community and make learning parties. We can all have our off-days but I seriously think a few of the others in this thread are the kind of people we could do without while trying to rebuild Goblin.
You know a server is too small when you basically have a server reunion on the second page of a thread.
Not a friendly one, either.
I think we got more people now than at the start but overall less activity because the content is boring and unrewarding, most activities can be done alone. So it seems slower and less crowed cause most of us do weekly eso cap and run alex. Then not log in again till next week.
Love how this thread has devolved into personal attacks. Stay classy, Goblin.
A lot of people are just bored of current content. There is actually a lot of stuff to do but it's not properly incentivized for them. I often see friends log in, pound out an expert and log right off again. I have faith that we will see a boost in lively players in November when 3.1 hits. As much as people complain about it, the relic chain is a big incentive to keep people subscribed and grinding it out every week. The other stuff like the Void Ark, Airships and LoV look promising even if it is not your thing. It'll give the more casual and midcore players something to work at.
As for the Endgame Raider pool, I don't have a solution outside of a server merge. As long as the community treats Gilgamesh as the "You must roll here to Raid" server, that is where they will eventually flock to. Bosslite and Rio said it before but it would take our entire FC leaving to get me off Goblin. And even then I would feel sad because we would be hurting the players and FCs left behind.
Lace in the place.
As stated, it's simply low tide between patches. That may or may not be why some left, but I personally don't think it makes much of a difference.
Why, you ask? Because for those of us still here, this is OUR server. OUR home. We make it what we want it to be. Want more raiders? Train more raiders (which I can say I've done personally). Better economy? Stimulate the market. 2 FCs shouldn't make or break a server at all.
I'm surprisingly low profile online, but you all know I'm always willing to help out. Not much of a crafter, and working on gathering, but I can raid/DPS/heal/teach like a badass. AND be sexy doing it. I would be more than happy to help anyone here, even if you'd still want to leave :)
Remember: WE make this server what we want it to be.
Wow, plenty of faces here I haven't seen in quite a while. I actually transferred from Goblin to Adamantoise mainly due to the size of the server. I found that a small server is a lot like a small town, eventually everyone begins to know your name and it's almost impossible to have a falling out with one individual without upsetting a whole group of people. Progression was also complicated, I often had to wait for certain people (Some of them are here in this thread) to help me clear content due to lack of static options.
I'm a god. That is all.
Yeah I'm with you guys One Percent and Free Company leaving already killed our dead server. Enjoy Harpy
I've been in goblin for 2 years now I like it's small community. I have Usagi industry for 2 years and if im the last person on goblin let it be so. Im not leaving a place that I worked from the ground up from and just abandoning it because of population.
Btw this is Kyra Usagi if anyone knows me. XD
It matters not whether you leave or stay, you will still know my love.
Atomsk loves all <333333
Berry loves all, too. <3
Cannnn't you feeeeel, the lovvvve tonnniggght!!!

NIGHTS! DAAAWLING :3
Greetings from Gilgamesh~
I honestly don't foresee any server merges anytime soon, Goblin is the perfect fit for me and my FC. Yes, I'm casual at the game and have no interest in doing things to be "world first". I enjoy my time playing on the same server with family and friends. What I enjoy the most is having little to no queue time to login, I think when HW dropped the queue wait got as deep as 4 for me. As a survivor of a XI merge, it took forever to move off of Pandemonium only to be tossed into the toxic environment of Asura. I really am not ready to relive those days over again.
berry when you gon lemme see duh booty <3
I'd like to arrange a photo shoot of Goblins crafter's at Costa in the next few days. Would anybody here be interested in something like that?
Well been here since the beginning and been running <OG> Oblivion Gate the whole time. Goblin will strive again once the patches come out and then dwindle back down again. Give players a reason to stay. OG we help all members and friends of OG as much as we can. When we first joined the server most of the top tier FC's were mostly Raiding FC's. Those very same fc's left to join larger populated servers and selling their houses. I find it funny cause chances are those players will have a hard time getting their own homes and fc for awhile. Stick it out to patches guys and things will be lively again I promise, and lastly the marketboard is gonna be slow due to ppl still lvling crafting and gathering classes to get the full benefits mainly for the new patch. SO YEA OG WILL ALWAYS remain GOBLIN!! XD
Difficult to find a lady friend on Goblin, but according to xivsoul.com, if it's accurate, the Goblin population is among the highest.
As far as I understand xivsoul was a project and not an on-going site, and already almost a year old. I was trying to research all this before I made a move here due to housing, although I seemed to have caught the tail end of people leaving as even just one week later prices are largely different and not recovering (fluctuating a bit, but declining overall). After moving I researched further, and another site I used was this:
http://luckybancho.ldblog.jp/wsurvey...m?world=Goblin
(the data can take up to 3 minutes to load, so if looks blank in the slots just wait)
This was another project that went up to Aug 8th '15, so most likely still isn't very accurate as it seem some of those who left were a bit more recent. Even with all that, this site only counted Lv21+, and goblin was one of the lower pops sitting just under 11k, while most sat around 13-14k. Overall Aether data center servers average lower, with Primal data center sitting around 16k average; JP servers around 9k average, but higher retention per character/player, so the difference isn't exactly noticed (I was on Atomos for a year and it felt as busy as Brynhildr, 8k vs 16k).
Examples prices for me moving here:
________________Moved - Now
Fat Cat__________ 575k - 300k
Apkallu Egg(HQ)___2k - 80gil
Astral Oil (HQ)____130k - 50k
Marron Glace(HQ)_35k - 7k
Aldgoat Horn(HQ)_3.5k - 1.5k
I could provide plenty more examples as I brought a wide variety to not bank on just a few items, in case that single item crashed (although they are all going down). I've been visiting other servers (avoiding Gilga and Legacy) on Aether since the move and market speed is indeed rather low for goblin. Even going down to prisms (I checked way more of course lol), one of the fastest moving items in any server, Goblin drags compared to most on Aether, with the best seemingly on Jenova, which was very fast (again, was not checking Gilga or Legacy). I've yet to decide if I'm going to stay or consider another move, but this is the jist of the research I did when/while I moved.
Goblin isn't dead and seriously 2 FC's leaving who cares. This just another lull. Moonfire Faire showed great community spirit. There are still plenty of great people on the server that are always willing to help people. Goblin is home and always will be.
Well, I haven't been here that long (uh, only joined in August) and I joined Goblin BECAUSE it was a lower pop server.
1. Because my friends all placed here maybe a month before me
2. I like joining lower pop servers (to help increase the pop and for that more small town feel)
3. I hate overly elitist players (which I've still run into plenty here on goblin, but I can only imagine servers like Gilgamesh).
Though, I will say, because of the lack of pop, it also means that there aren't as many doing the high level stuff.... which means more than likely, those who are doing it are picky because they don't have that much to choose from and don't want to do it multiple times. Kinda works backwards though as you push those wanting to learn away and thus, keeping your numbers low. Players with no patience are the biggest detriments to the server imo. Half my FC won't even play certain dungeons because of players that will simply bulldoze through without explaining anything. One of my FC's healers said her party literally left her behind on Castrum Meridianum (and left half the mobs alive while running through) and she had to just wait for them to finish it without her because she couldn't solo through the mobs. Obviously, not a good experience. But I've also met some very nice players as well who will explain boss fights in detail as well (and I try to do the same when I repeat stuff).
Its the chicken and the egg man. Its just like companies try to hire employs. They want someone with years of experience, but don't want to "pay" to train new players (employees). Its making endgame puggable content suffer as a result. I don't know how many times where I've joined a PUG for an EX primal or something else and people just give up after 1-2 tries without trying to teach people new content.
Other servers like Gilgamesh, Balmung, and Excalibur have a healthy PUG scene but ours here on Goblin isn't too comparable at all.
Hey just wanted to give a shout out to go link players. Coming back to the game myself soon and considering transferring to goblin. Things are not looking well for me on balmung and also recently managed to get some irl buddies to finally pick up a game and they already created characters. Also seems like it might be enjoyable to play on a smaller server for a while despite the lack of end game raiding and also sounds like it may be enjoyable to help build a server completely back up. Just waiting on a paycheck where I have a few extra bucks so that I can put in a transfer to goblin, though I already have a character on goblin atm until I get the funds for the transfer. Raven Inari is his name, eventually getting deleted though so I can keep that name on my main character.
Well, feel free to add me if you see me online. I'm always glad to help people out ^^
