Regarding Esoterics.

So, I've been trying to decide what I should do with these tombstones. My main, Warrior, has the weapon, body, and pants pieces, and lately I've been really enjoying my MCH and NIN. My question is, should I continue to gear up my Warrior, despite not using it for roulettes and the like, or should I at least buy the eso weapon for my two dps jobs?

I love tanking, but I also love pew pew pewing. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you raid in savage then you might want to get the extra defence from eso gears otherwise there is no need to overgear yourself on WAR since you should be able to do all other contents with ease with your current gears.

It's mostly a question of what you enjoy playing more. There is no best choice here, as people will give different sides for it.

You more than qualify with your warrior for any content up to SA2 imo, that's if the rest of your gear is 190. I'd go ahead and get your weps for your alt class, Eso will only get easier to aquire if you'd like to go back and gear you warrior up, might as well catch up your DD class for current meta.

Unless you raid savage, you can do whatever you want. If it seems like a better idea to start gearing MCH/NIN then go for it

I'm not doing savage at the moment. My times aren't conducive to a static. Honestly, I love going as MCH for dungeons and PvP, and Warrior for raids and trials, but I honestly can't pick one over the other on my own...

What do you bring to raids? Eso gear is super overkill for most of the content in the game. If you don't run Alexander (Savage), it honestly doesn't matter which jobs you gear up first - pick the one you most enjoy. If you do run Alexander (Savage), gear up the job that your static has you running as. If you don't have a static, then either gear up your favorite job and then find a static that needs that job, or gear up the job you think will be most in-demand (probably WAR) in order to make yourself more attractive to statics that are looking for new members.

I have about the same on my WHM. Since I don't run Savage, and it's more than enough for all other content. I'm switching over to gear for my DRK now. I'm assuming i194 is enough for next patches content as well. At least to start it.

Actually, no, Tomestones is correct. Next time you log in, take a careful look and you'll see that's how they are spelled. This is because they are not grave markers at all: they are Allagan data records. Stones containing tomes. They are highly valued because Allagan stuff in general is highly valued, and these happen to be books detailing how the Allagans lived, thought, and taught.

The current Tomestones that are in vogue are Tomestones recording selections of poetry (Poetics), laws and regulations (Law), and odd bits of info not covered under other Tomestone categories (Esoterics). Previous Tomestones no longer so highly valued included those recording philosophical musings (Philosophy), myths and legends (Mythology), and military matters (Soldiery).

Personally I'm holding off on the Esoteric weapon for my blm main. I want to hear more about relics before I make that jump. I get along just fine now with my upgraded Law weapon and don't really want to waste the eso's to get a weapon I'll be replacing. I have too many other roles to gear and I think I prefer doing those first.

I've been starting to horde them the last week or so until we hear more about the relic weapons that are supposedly coming with 3.1. I main WAR for most content but I enjoy PLD/DRG/SCH as well and have been debating on getting any of those weapons depending on what goes down in 3.1. Relic weapons could be a game changer though so gonna wait it out as well.

Are you doing AlexS? If not spend them the way you like as all the rest are face roll content that could be done without any eso gears (include the coming new dungens and 24 raid in 3.1) until 3.2 (in 4+ months)

Priority #1 for Esoterics is your main job (SMN in my case). As tempted as I was to get Deathbringer for DRK, my call ultimately went the Almandal's way as well as Caller's gear (even though I look like Pit from Kid Icarus). You can get away with Prototype Gordian gear for the other jobs at least until the Void Ark comes our way.

If you're doing savage you should completely gear your main.

If you're not doing savage, buy whatever you want, doesn't matter.

relic will likely not come until 3.15 which is about 6 weeks after 3.1 release. plenty of time to grab an eso weapon in the meantime. also the new primal with 3.1 will likely drop i205 weapons which are a nice gap filler till the relic and weapon upgrade get added in 3.15 outside of savage a4s. and yes. weapon upgrade wont come till then not even trough hunts. its unlikely. and i think this may the reason they hold the relic back till 3.15 since relic will be i210 for sure otherwise it wouldnt be worth the horrendus grind+rng that itll likely be. prepare for atma 3.0 now with heavensward fates AND heavensward tt card dropchances :D

Yup. I don't run savage... I have Eso weapons for my blm n war... next is chest for blm this week, then next is chest on war and so on alternating. Until I hit 60 on my nin.

Is it confirmed that Relic will be pushed to 3.15? Only thing I have found is that they said in the liveletter that it will happen EITHER 3.1 or 3.15.

I ran into a similar problem. I started out gearing my AST, but now i feel like doing a different class, but out of OCD i feel the need to complete that set before starting another. I only need the shoes at this point to complete the visible parts of the right side. I might work on the left side, but i may want to start gearing my casters.

I hope they make sets easier to obtain as we progress, because i'm not a one job person.

Right now i'm stuck between wanting to gear my SMN, my WHM, and my BLM.

Thing is, while that's true, would you rather do a bismarck/ravana ex / expert/alex with people in i180 or i200? 4 people in i180 makes an expert run take about 35 mins. 4 people in i200 makes it take 15-20. If more than half the pt don't know their rotation/play how they want, then you can wipe horribly if everyone is in law gear in alex/ex primals, while if more than half are in i200, it can make up for it. "X gear is all you need" should never be an option imo. Just because it can be cleared in law gear, doesn't mean that should be all you need.

XIV allows us to play multiple jobs, but forces us to pick a main, which defeats the purpose of multiple jobs. You can't really go "I think I might come X today, instead of my main." unless its faceroll content, because then you'd be about 10-20 ilvl lower, gimping yourself and hurting the overall party performance. Theres no reason why we shouldn't be able to gear up as many jobs as we want in the current top gear. No, people aren't going to up and unsub because of that, plenty of mmos have had uncapped stuff and people continued to play it for years. People are already unsubbing because we can't gear up more than 1 job, not to mention lack of variety. They can keep the cap, but it should have been per job (and only able to spend the tomes earned on that job, for that job), so we can gear multiple jobs.

I like to protect my tombstones with turrents.

I'll echo what the others have said, if you aren't in Savage buy whatever makes you happy.

If they follow the old pattern in a future patch Eso will take the place that Law is now with no weekly cap and we will be able to gear everything pretty quickly.

For now though yeah it can be a hard choice. One of my statics tanks bought the war weapon it it is now the 'wrong' weapon since she has changed her main to DKN so she feels behind in gearing out.

no not confirmed what you read was latest info on it. but 3.15 is likely because theyll problay delay the weapon upgrade from a4s on new tower aswell until then so the new primal can give i205 weapons making it worth running for this time beeing. if relic came with 3.1 and would be i210 it would be bismarck bullshit all over again were they screwed rewards badly in terms of ilvl. and if relic wouldnt be i210 it would become useless from the get go basicly since everyone already got free i200 eso wep. and relic would not be worth the effort to handle with its insane RNG and grind that itll have again for sure.

As far as the tomes go, I honestly love playing Warrior most, it's my main, and some fc mates tell me I'm a very good tank... I just feel slightly bad because I tend to run most 4 man content as DPS with the law weapon.

The AF2 could have gone a similar route as the relic weapons. We obtain a simple base set via quest, then upgrade it via lengthy quest chain.
