How to fix this red scrip nightmare:

Hello everyone.

While I'm sure this isn't the first thread regarding this topic, there are a few things on my mind that I'd like to discuss with the community. I'll make this short and sweet. I'm going to preface this by apologizing for yet another thread on red scrips.

So here goes.

1)Double the weekly red scrip cap to 900

2) Reduce the number of red crafting tokens for rare turn-ins from 1 to 0.

3) Reduce the number of red crafting tokens for hidden turn ins from 3 to 1. This would make roundstones, mute feathers etc. etc. more valuable than the standard tokens, as they should be, they are more rare. Right now that is not the case, because nobody wants them.

4) Increase the favor node spawn percentage to 100! The 5 minute timer is fine, but we need to be able to gather max mats in those precious 5 minutes.

While I do believe that the current system is broken, I DO NOT believe that it as beyond repair. It's just going to take some serious nerfing to get right.

The problem now is that mats just aren't flowing to the MB. I believe these changes would help a lot with this issue.

In closing, I just want to say that I'm loving HW so far, but this red scrip system needs tuning, as everyone knows already.

For this one, I think adding the ability to turn in the 3 items for 1 set of NQ crafting items would be better than lowering the requirement since they are HQ mats.

And while they're at it, how about making grade V crafting materia available so that we can properly meld our two star gear.

Please gods no then I have to spend four more hours capping my gathering scrips weekly.

Crafting IDK I don't do that so no opinion from me, but gathering is fine, it just takes time (while from my understanding red craft scrips takes time, mats, and money).

I actually prefer the crafting red scripts since it can be done in 30 mins and no need to be ET clock slave :p

They might... but not right now, maybe in a 1 or 2 big patch...
Like they did for the previous ilevel 70 green stuff
(I remember crafting my 50 silver brocade on monday... and the next day it fall to 8 SB... I cried so much)

Yes but if you do this you still have the issue of the super rare hidden tokens being useless... because people would just trade them in.

these mat is for 2 stars craft, them don't sell very well atm, mats are expensive so the craft is expensive.
It certainly should be nerfed, i think it don't go well with the current economy of the game,
few peoples can buy the final craft. (Big Crafter and Gatherer, Carry seller... Gold Buyer...)
But a nerf would also be annoying to someone who is actualy farming, and say what i farmed for hours, now loose in value, it can be a pain in the ass too XD.
Conclusion : if there no nerf, it will still hard to sell the final craft, if there a nerf some players will not be happy of the nerf.
From the begining involve too much works to get the item rare and too much overpriced was not a good idea.

I figure 3.2 they are going to lift the weekly cap on Red Scrip entirely.

We'll be given a new Scrip, Green Scrip, with new crafting/gathering gear to get that has the same time sink and constraints as the current Red Scrip stuff.

Patience! We can all play Catch-Up in May/June.

I understand what you're saying but the past is the past.

Everything gets nerfed eventually, just some things are broken and need immediate attention.

sigh, so for this week I will need 70 red ooids, 70 wyvmarts, 30 green ooids and finally 30 void nutts.


...... I have 35 red gathering scripts and. Not looking forward to doing all those favors. :(

Mindless time sink. Please reduce the amount of favor mats required for 2stars. I wonder how many favors I need to do to get all the mats :(

I just want to be able to craft whenever I want. I don't wanna be limited as to how much I can craft per week. That's all I ask

you can craft as much as you want, just buy the mats from other people

Just curious, how did you get your scheelite back in Patch 2.2? And how about those demimateria in Patch 2.3? And how did you get your Allagan Leather, Allagan Silk and Ehcatl Sealants in Patch 2.4 to do 4 star crafting?

Has this game ever has a time which we can craft freely without restrictions? Can you please remind me? I hate Favors as much as you do. But the concept of "freely craft without restriction" doesn't ring the bell for me since ARR...

My point is. I was doing stuff every day to get the mats I needed whereas now I'm stuck, I HAVE to wait a week to obtain red tokens to actually craft something. It's not just about getting red ooids or green ooids but is the fact I need something that I can only get ONCE a week. And people are not selling them unless you want to pay an absurd amount of money for them.(No one are really selling them cause they need them to actually craft)

Making red scrips a weekly thing was a bad idea. Imho it should be a daily reset thing. Gathering for a week to craft for a day it's NOT right.

I think his point was, you've bought time-limited materials before. You could have never done your Ixali dailies and simply bought all those sealants nonstop and kept crafting whatever you wanted to use or sell.

How does this change now, except that the "sealants" are personally gated to 7 a week? It doesn't. Nothing is gating your ability to push your crafting buttons except gil, same as before. It's just these new things are more expensive because more personal effort has to go into each item.

And fwiw, I don't really mind red scrips. Everything in this game even remotely related to progression is gated. I'm sure even the i210 gear from airship exploration will be gated, because it's >i160. All I'd want changed is to get rid of the damn mobs staring at nodes (looking at you, stupid bear and jellyfish fate in Hinterlands) and a way to convert the "rare" favor items into something useful because spending 3 tokens is not useful. Have like 40 of each of those stupid "rare" items sitting around that I can't ever use until they unlock red scrips.

My wife and I both have all crafts, MIN and BTM to 60, and my wife also has FSH to 60. As a result, my wife spent the extra three weeks getting a third DoL red scrip mainhand, and as a result has a modest stockpile of red crafting scrip built up during that time. So I give her my excess Favor tokens, including rare ones, and she uses her crafting scrips to turn them into mats. This is apparently a pretty typical method of using them, although usually some gil needs to change hands and trust is required.

I don't know the going rate per red crafting scrip is in such a transaction. The additional starting quality from one or two HQ red scrip mats is pretty substantial, so it might be high: HQ Leaf/Land-born Aethersand has a comparable effect and has a few sales at around 1,000,000 gil here on Faerie. Perhaps a split of the mats between the provider of the Favor tokens and the provider of the red scraft scrip could be worked out instead of any gil changing hands.

There's always been a grind, there's always been some kind of a gate, we've always had to shell out big if we wanted to bypass those previous two issues. However...the gate as it stands is too severe and the lack of participation between adventurers/crafters/gatherers is the real issue at hand. We'd all be a lot more tolerant if the favor mats sold regularly. In order for that to happen, we'd need adventurers that could farm and sell something to crafters and gatherers that would be able to buy something from crafters as well (besides OH and accessories). An economy isn't a one-way street. The current issue is that not enough people are willing/able to participate to create demand. Gathering by and large saw some interesting updates in 3.0 but the broken paradigm of crafting/farming has made it irrelevant. I would recommend reducing the red scrip token cost of favors to 25 (also probably lower the HQ mat cost in crafter tokens to 1) to allow for more access and then address the issues that left adventurers broke and crafters unable to sell anything in the 2star world. Beyond that the changes proposed would be a bit extreme if they were all to be implemented simultaneously.
