Is this item even in the game? Without it, I can't get my Garlond Goggles fixed past 75% at all...

Shouldn't all googles now use Chamois spetch to repair? The closest to Gold Dust was a rumour of some very high rank mob drop 'em.

My theory is it's made the same way as copper dust, by grinding down nuggets. Problem is the recipe for it hasn't been added, just like how you can't make gold nuggets from gold ore yet.

Dropping from a mob is a possibility, but at this point pretty much everything has been killed, even the 70+ mobs in the far off corners.

Apparently this IS in the game! There is currently one up for sale in the Market Wards on Rabanastre for 8 million gil. It is a +3 Gold Dust no less. If i knew how to take a screen shot I would.

And yes it is Gold Dust and not Gold Sand.

I don't think I would pay 8 million gil. Maybe 1 million. If anyone on Palamecia gets one let me know.

Gold Dust is dropped off Goblin Headman. I have confirmed this.

The problem is the dust is a a rare-ish drop from very high level mobs. Headrip Ogre (r85-89)
Someone on YG was also able to confirm a rumor I'd heard.
* Goblin Headman (r90-99) (I think it actually required a full party of 15 r50s to zombie kill it).

I don't get why this drops from such high rank mobs when it's main use is for rank 40-50 equipment. It definitely should be changed, or the red lense recipe needs changing so that gold dust can be used in the future on higher content.

Why don't they add electrum dust that ALC can make from electrum nuggets for example?

I think with all the chaos they just forgot to add the gold dust synth. Alchemists were already making mints at that time people were starting to look for gold dust, so the devs may have been hesitant to add it. Alchys would have probably taken the high price of gold, then doubled it or tripled it for gold dust synthing and walked away with ridiculously broken profits off the bubble economy. making even bubble weavers look like monkeys shaking hands for a dollar.

But now we kindof need a gold dust synth now that the bubble's burst.

This is a joke. There is NO gold dust yet and NO way to get it. Otherwise the people that claim they have seen it or have it or have made it would have proof. A screenshot, a material recipe. Dont waste your time.

It definitely exists. There's a red lense for sale on our server Peregrine! Some lucky bugger has been making a killing on these for weeks now selling them at a million per lense. I believe our LS ALC has a silver alembic +1 too after purchasing one. They can be turned into glasses too but I'm not paying a million to make an item that would be lucky to sell for half that.

I believe the goblin headman theory, but it's difficult to test since the party cap was reduced to 8. It's even harder to zerg kill these rank 90 mobs now.

I have a silver alembic which requires a red lens I bought said lens for 800k and had someone in my ls make the alembic. I've also seen one gold dust in the wards for like 4 mil.
