To the Devs: Since the Au Ra horn seperation issue is being looked into...

Can we have the Highlander eyebrow issue looked into as well? Giving male Highlanders eyebrows would be a small change that would make a huge difference to Highlander players. It's a minor change, but it would mean a lot to some of us.

Well, since we're talking about race-specific issues, can they fix the femroe...wait...my bad, we're already perfect :p

Since the female Highlanders have eyebrows and they are just as tough as the males I don't see why the men have to shave :p.

Did yoshi say that they going to seperate the horn and face type? (I missed the news)

I would like them to look into AuRa hairstyles and the Thavnairian headresss thoguh. It clipped through like 80% of their hairstyles. It's a very significant clipped too.

What makes Au Ra and their horns so special. Every race has some facial features that can only be used with certain faces. For example highlanders and their facial hair. If you want a certain beard then you must pick the face that goes with it. So every highlander that has the same facial hair as me will also have the same exact face.

Can't look into it for one race and not the others.

If this is seriously being looked into I'd like the markings on Miqote faces to be removable. Let us choose whether to have them or not.

I know that he said no right after the launch but the OP mentioned that it is being looked into so I wonder if I missed the new newsletter or something.

Pretty sure they meant "no, we've told you why, quit asking, we are locking the thread so you don't ask anymore", but phrased it in a polite way. Asking for pretty much the same thing on different races is going to get the same answer, I would imagine.

Yeah, they've pretty much said they weren't going to look into Au Ra horns because the way they handled it was the best way they could come up with, that is to say it's not an issue at all save for customization-starved players. Probably the same can be said of any other character features people feel are 'missing'. Sparing Bayohne to hunt his own reply.

This is going to be a bit technical, but there's a strict limit set for the size of each character's memory allocation, and we try to work within these limits. For Au Ra, we're using nearly all of the available memory at the moment. I'll check again once more, including color changes, but if we made it possible to separately select the horns and face, the point where they connect may end up looking weird, so it could be very difficult to accomplish.

We are definitely aware of the voices asking for this change, and the team is continuing to look into the request. That said, constantly bumping the thread every few days doesn't make it any more visible, it just pushes other topics down the list. As such I will be closing this thread.

Should anything change in regards to the Au Ra face/horn design in the future, we'll be sure to make an announcement.

Right. What reason could they possibly have to think their character creation is anything less than perfect. -_-;

Probably cause there's no such thing as perfect and the devs know it. Case in point, Tanaka clearly thought 1.0 was perfect. We all know what happened to that. The character creation system we have is the best they can give us given the nature of the game. Other MMOs have much more robust character creation systems but the majority of those are also strictly PC or have a less dense game world or smaller player areas so the memory constraints aren't as big an issue.

The call for more customization in FFXIV mimics some of the requests in other mmos I've played. I've heard the same requests in WoW, SWTOR, and ESO to name a few. And on the rare occasion the devs of any of these games comment on the issue of more character customization options, it's usually ...something something technical limitations...something something development resources... something something armor models not fitting customized characters... blah blah blah.

I've heard these kind of requests from players, and I've heard the same lame excuses from devs in multiple companies for a nearly a dozen years now. Yeah, it would be great if FFXIV was the game to really open character customization from all the rest, but given the repeated attempts by the devs to avoid the topic, even locking threads now, I really don't see it happening.

I will always miss my horn thread. QwQ

If different devs from different companies around the globe say the same, then it sound less to be just an excuse.

Like I said someone needs to ask when they're going to fix these memory issues heh ^^;

This I paid like almost 3 mil for it thinking hey maybe its just this one hair style it clips went to the salon and was sorely mistaken almost all the hairstyles don't work with this headdress. Its back on the mb now
