Is there any possibility of this in the future? There seems to be a huge demand in almost every other successful MMO out there to date and don't quite understand why there couldn't be at least one server designated for hardcore players. Almost everyone I have tried to get to play ffxiv especially after the more recent updates negatively criticized the game solely because there is no real focus on PVP and refer commonly refer to PVE with NO pvp present as "Carebear". I love PVP as many others do and I just feel this game could greatly benefit PVP as a focused addition. Please note that as a ffxi vet ballista was a joke and I don't feel any additions in comparison to the ffxi did it would be beneficial to this games core. Discuss....

I don't think they'd make a sub-adjustment of all classes for just one server. The game is primarily created for PVE which is what their focus was from the start. To make changes like that when it was never in their intention in the first place (they've said this before) is probably asking too much.
I know you think and feel this is a basic thing all MMO's should have but I do not think so. No. Not now or anytime soon, perhaps in a few years if there's that big of a demand for it. We are getting some PVP but it'll likely resemble XI's.

PvP makes balancing a PITA, and also increases complaining. Pretty sure YoshiP played DoAC a lot and has mentioned something about PvP with objectives, but that won't be coming for a long long time I imagine, if ever.

On that note:
If folks want to play a MMO with a strong focus on open PvP... there are MMOs out there that cater to that already.
Not every MMORPG "must have open PvP" or a "hardcore PvP server" to be a good MMORPG.
And in case anyone's about to accuse me of being carebear... My gaming history includes 5 years in Lineage 2, 2 years in Shadowbane, a stint in Darkfall, a few months in Asheron's Call, as well as PvP servers on any other MMO that offered it.
I fully enjoy PvP and, in fact, prefer it as open and FFA as it can be. I just also realize that FFA PvP doesn't have a place in every MMORPG. -

as if we dont got enough to complain about already. they will just ignore it like they typicaly do all NA request. they seem to be lil more interactive this time around @ least but its proly cuzz they tryin to save this broken game after the bigest faceplant a mmo has ever seen. they should have created this game with every1 in mind not just the ffxi peeps.

lol and i'm sure your friends think WoW PvP is hardcore.. I heard darkfall, eve, and mortal are all online and available if you want true hardcore PVP.. Any PvP that isn't full loot is completely carebear as well.. you should inform your friends.

open world pvp will be the death of FFXIV... PvP does NOT have to be in a MMO to be successful.. If I wanted to play a PvP games I'd go play a REAL pvp game.. with full loot.. the only point of PvPing is to take someones stuff.. If I can't take your stuff, really whats the point of killing you? Other than to be an annoyance.
