Astrologian DPS

I don't entirely feel comfortable in saying Astrologian has good single target DPS as compared to a White Mage, but I would say that their aoe is pretty good. Here's how:
(Diurnal Sect)
If you really wanted to go all out on AOE dps, and the tank does a big pull, what you do is wait for the tank to put them in position, Synastry (Bll if need be) and cast Aspected Helios, followed by CU, and then followed by Aspected Benefict. After which use time dialation to increase their HOTS to around 30s (Before CU and AB ware off)

And at this time your tank should have a super potent regen tick, that should heal for almost as much as a regular B1.
Then at this point cast Light speed
Followed by Luminous Aether
And finally followed by Celestial Opposition

Cleric Stance
Start the gravity spam
You shouldn't even have to get out of Cleric Stance to heal, since the regen will be THAT potent.

There is literally no reason to use Lightspeed solely for Gravity.

You know lightspeed lowers the potency of attack magic right? The only reason to even use it for dps is if you wanna look cool on a target dummy.

So much unnecessary MP and time waste in this suggestion... Even suggesting that healing in cleric's stance is "fine" because 330 potency worth of healing every 3 seconds is "strong" - Which isn't even available every pull.

Um light speed reduces magic damage potency by 25% and wasting all your cooldowns of a single pull isn't very optimal.

You'll have to excuse their lack of enthusiasm taco. We've known that trick with synastry for a while now. It's the one of the big arguments for diurnal stance over nocturnal. Anyway, this is my variation on it that I've been using.

I can understand luminous aether for gravity spam, but adding lightspeed and celestial opposition are probably too much cds to burn down for 3 gravity spells at 50% power. You save 25% mp on the spell cost for gravity (which admittedly is very high), but it's a lot of damage lost.

I'd recommend you remove those lightspeed and celestial, instead saving celestial opposition and lightspeed at the end in case you need a hard stun to buy time to switch out of cleric and heal the tank up with ED. lightspeed can also be used to quickly bene2 your tank or party up to full hp too.

Also, CU is not ideal in this case because you can't actually cast gravity while it is up. You have to stay still and channel CU for it to take effect; and if you break it before 3 seconds (such as moving or casting another spell), you have the risk of wasting the ability without healing at all (because its a regen tick).

Collective Unconciousness has been changed. Maintaining the field generates the mitigation. Entering the field grants those who enter the regen effect. You don't have to keep it up for more than 2 or 3 seconds if it's solely for the regen part of it.

I only use AH (Di) > AB (Di) > CS then spam Gravity till the tank's health drop to about 30-40%. No need to Lightspeed, CU, TD and Synastry. :/

There's no rush to DPS adds in dungeons where this usage of CDs is necessary. Let the DPS handle it and stance dance where you're comfortable.

Swiftcast gravity? Okay.
Gravity spam until the tank is at 30% and dance following that? Okay.
Single target DPS hots? Okay
Uncomfortable stance dancing? Putting up dots and using malefic II is okay as well (in a non-cleric stance.)

Use healing CDs..for healing just in case something goes a bit sour - you should be fine otherwise :P


On a complete side note - I gues this post is in relation to DPSing in dungeons to get fast esoterics. I'd totally recommend going to PvP as AST in Nocturnal stance if you are looking for some fun alternative (Granted some servers have long pvp queues and this may be an option).

Lightspeed for glorious healer DPS is a poor choice regardless. MP efficiency remains the same due to the 25% reduced MP cost and 25% reduced Potency, but you're actually losing out on damage in the long run due to the Potency loss, despite the cast time reduction.

200 Potency*(2.5/3)=166.66 Potency per GCD without Lightspeed.
150 Potency*(2.5/2.5)=150 Potency per GCD with Lightspeed.

Only time Lightspeed would be good for a DPS scenario in a dungeon would be a point where you're for some reason forced to move non-stop during a short window and there's a really tight DPS check involved. Otherwise, just suck up the 3 sec cast time. :p

There is no need to repeat the arguments other peoples have already made why using lightspeed is a bad decision in combination with dps skills. But why do you use Synastry in combination with HoT skills. Synastry has no effect on the regen amount.

Synastry also buffs healing spells by 20%. Divine seal buffs healing spells by 30% (and it's common knowledge this buffs regens). They work exactly the same in terms of healing potency buffs therefore it also buffs regens.

CU's regen effect along with your regen spell makes for a powerful combination of hots for "free". You can time dilation your tank and pretty much ignore him whilst you gravity spam.

Also, healing CDs in expert dungeons is fine. You shouldn't be running into issues keeping a tank alive at this ilvl. I use Synastry on pulls solely to buff my regens which allow me to DPS longer.

The only mistake is using lightspeed followed by gravity spam, other than that this suggestion looks good. Dungeons are so easy that you shouldn't need to use cooldowns to save someone. Just use them to make things go faster.
