No, they don't. Outside of the WoL, Ysayle I believe is the only other individual who was confirmed to have it. I read some of the other Scions did, but nothing confirmed.
thanks a bunch you guys!
As far as confirmed Echo users, no, neither Alphinaud nor Alisae possesses it. The player, Minfilia, and Ysayle were the only named characters so far that we know of. That being said, some of the other pre-Garlean invasion Scion members had the echo as well, as the point of the Scions was to grow their ranks with members of similar abilities. That's part of the reason you were recruited, and part of the reason Minfilia started the Path of the Twelve to begin with (which was merged with the Sharlayan gang after the Calamity).
Sadly, many of them were killed by Livia and her lot. Some survived and we can assume that some of them have the Echo, we just don't know who or what since they are unnamed background NPCs at this point.
As far as we know, no. The only people we know for sure to have the Echo is ourselves, Minfilia, and Ysayle. (And the Ascians, of course.)
Alphinaud hangs back from our confrontation with Ravana specifically because he lacks the Echo.
I suspect Midfgardsormr and the First Brood also have the Echo.
And yet... He, and his sister, came face to face with Bahamut and Phoenix... Cid and Alphinaud also got pretty close to Garuda, too... Heck, Alphinaud, Cid, Biggs and Wedge were all on the Enterprise during our confrontation with Bismark... The more I think about that fight actually, the less it makes sense... I guess Bismark is just stupid, because I'd certainly have nom'd the poorly defended Airship first, or started ramming from the side the cannons aren't pointing, or just come up the rear (giggity).
I guess Primals don't know about the Echo until it interferes with their plans though, and at this point they just see us and figure Tempering wont work, even if it would on the handful of allies we're dragging behind us...
The Echo does not manifest equally on all subjects.
This. One of the Scions, when you first enter The Waking Sands, says that he was having weird dreams and that Minfilia told him that he would be among friends if he joined. He most certainly had the Echo, but it didn't seem to manifest as strongly with him as it did with you.
That being said, there are probably many people that we don't know about that have it. But the only notable ones are you, Minfilia, and Ysayle.
I just wish Alphinaud, would at least possessed the ability to avoid every AOE he can find during the instanced fights.
It's pretty much implied at this point that either A) The Warrior of Light is such a threat that they simply do not have the time or aether to waste on attempting to force us under their will (remember, Ifrit had to really wind up to even attempt to temper the Warrior of Light), or B) the main party that accompanies the Warrior of Light into Trials and (small) Raids is made up of people who share the Echo, after all, we saw very early on that there are numerous Warriors of Light, all on their own journey. It's what allows us roleplay being one of the chosen ones and not have it break lore in half, and if your character can prove they've done something truly heroic (Dreadwyrm equipment, extreme primal weapons, Gordian equipment, ect), I'm one to believe them.
Alphinaud definitely does not, at least he says he doesn't according to the hw msq (and I don't blame him for not testing if he does or not)
I suspect his sister may,but may not know it. The ending of 2.55, with how she was able to perfectly set up your rescue, hints, to me, that she may have it
In all fairness, Bismarck is actually the most primitive Primal we have encountered so far in terms of behaviour. He truly seemed to be nothing but an animal in terms of thoughts and actions, just one made out of ether, so his lack of tactical thinking is somewhat explainable.
A Saghin priest also possessed the echo.
And to add to this further, version 1.0 all but proved that the Echo does not manifest in the same way to everyone, some Echo users only have partial ability in it, for instance Minfilia herself, who leads an organization of Echo users in both 1.0 (The Path of the Twelve) and in ARR (The Scions of the Seventh Dawn)... can only view another person's memories, she has zero ability to understand unknown languages (in 1.0 this was proven in a funny scene where she was forced to call on the player to translate to her what some sylphs were saying), where in 1.0 again, there was a minor lalafell npc at the Waking Sands named Nenekani who if you spoke to him admits that he can't view another's memories but has the gift of language, which he ambiguously made a financial profit out of:
A lot about 1.0 has been retconned, but that is still pretty conclusive that the Echo does not manifest in a uniform manner to all those awoken to it, although it should go without saying that the player is told that their own potency in the Echo is regarded by Minfilia and the Scions as being the strongest they've ever seen, which, coupled with the separate 'Blessing of Light' and it's associated Crystals and powers, that is starting to veer towards God Mode Sue territory unfortunately, ..... but that's another story. ;)Quote:

It certainly does seem similar to the Echo, which is the ability to manipulate the boundaries of the soul - the sahagin elder effectively attaining a form of ascendance where his soul could body hop each time he died, effectively making him like the Ascians... but of course all it did was make him a tasty aetheric snack for Leviathan, which kind of gave the Scions the first clue in how to destroy an Ascian for good - so I don't know. We still don't know enough to fully say "The Echo is not just given by Hydaelyn but by the Ascians," but no doubt more will be revealed in time (a final kicker is the last words of the sahagin elder as he was absorbed into Leviathan was that he realized to his horror that the Ascians had lied to him, which should come as no surprise really. ;)).
I could very well be extremely wrong, but didn't Thancred have it? I remember him saying something like he lost the echo when he was possessed so he was susceptible to something the ascians could do to individuals without the echo.
Its been a while lol.
No. None of the Archons have the echo to our knowledge.
