This is something I think needs to be fixed. When you have a persistant world the things you do in the game need to accurately reflect a certain passage of time. In short, airship travel between cities should not be instantaneous in real life. It needs to actually consume game time like the boat ride does to be realistic. Otherwise SE may as well have just instituted a gil fee for teleportation. Adding a new room and a little cutscene is a waste of resources imo.

It wasn't a new room, at least for Gridania, the airship area has always been there. Not sure about Uldah and Limsa. As far as the time for traveling... while I understand the thought, this is supposed to be a gil-based alternative to teleporting with anima. If the transition was not instant, it would not be a viable alternative. I would also prefer they keep focusing on fixing systems that need work, not adding a sky backdrop and an airship I can walk around (afk on) for 5 minutes while I travel fro one country to the next.

Except that was never a complaint lobbied against XI that I recall. To me it is just as viable as teloporting. To some the tradeoff in gil (which players will generally have far more of) and time is worth it to save anima which is generally in mich smaller supply. But the real point is that persistant worlds have rules. How time has to work is one of them. If you choose to have one of your modes of transportation be really anything other than warping then it needs to take the appropriate amount of time relative to that world. What if it were choco's instead. Would if be okay with it if they were basicallyy just instant warp devices?

Agreed, I love the boat trip... made it like 7 times now and each time it feels amazing, waiting at the front for the landmass to appear, sitting inside when it rains... feels amazing.
but as the other said... they need to fix things before adding things like that. -

Yes please eventually add a longer, richer more enjoyable ride so we can fully appreciate the view for this amazing looking game from above. Yeah I know there are people who could care less and yes at times I was annoyed with ffxi's wait time on airships.
However, we don't have to wait near as long for a ship to arrive in 14 and it just seems like an awful waste to not be able to check out the new ships and again enjoy the view. Letting us add $1.00 mules would help as well to be placed in other cities. Oh and add some mobs to the ferry ride please. -

While I'd love to -see- the actual flyover of Eorzea, it'd be gorgeous (and I have a feeling they might be planning to add this once they've done the redesign of the zones - they don't want to make one flyover and then have to redo their work in a few months), I also like that it -doesn't- take fifteen minutes to get from one city to the other. It should be "Do you want to spend anima or gil", not "Do you want to spend anima, or gil and half your day".

Exactly what I was thinking when I got on the airship. I won't complain because I'm just glad that it was implemented, but I thought that it felt rushed and lazy. It was easy to reach all 3 cities in no time, which is effective just like teleporting but also expensive.
I don't think of that as a problem, but I would be glad to see something similar to the instances in FFXI. I liked the rides and the feeling they had, the addition of quests sounds interesting.
