Room decorations as drops?

Can we maybe start seeing Room decorations drop in dungeons? i think it be cool to get rare or really fun ones as drops from a chest or a random mob. And for ppl that don't have a house or room well let us sell the drops like minions yes no maybe? what do ppl think?;)

Basically something similar to what PSU did. Yeah, I can get behind that.

Eh. It's like having crafting mats in the dungeon drops. Eventually, you'll have so many, you'll be passing on them when looting.

Exactly i mean ff already has a very good house / room set up so id rather get some drops for my room and house then random junk paint :P

Maybe have one chest per dungeon (have a chance to) drop furniture? Like how some dungeons have a chest that drops minions. Sometimes it's the last chest, sometime it's a chest between bosses.

Well certain chests in some dungeons already drop mats for housing items so I don't see this as much different.

Why not just continue doing it how they've already done it? Chest that may contain crafting material used to make furniture? Annoyingly missing from the more recent dungeons, but I think it is much better than putting the furniture itself in the dungeons...

Manor Varnish/etc. aren't exactly lucrative items anymore, but then nor are the furniture Retainers steal, and I imagine dungeon-dropped furniture would be a step down from Retainer-stolen furniture in terms of value. Plus half the point of housing and furniture was to give crafting some actual relevance in this game... I'd rather keep materials dropping, rather than the full furniture, those Manor Instruments might get a lot of their value from Glazenuts, but they're still profitable besides that. If Haukke Manor directly dropped them, I imagine they'd be worth 10G.

While I wouldn't say I actively support this, I see no reason to go against it either. Doesn't seem any more or less silly than enemies dropping fully intact weapons and armor so, hey, why not?

Add more player housing first, and don't limit it, allow every player to buy one if they want to. Then, yes, I'd be all for this, because then having my own small house would be a totally realistic goal.

Well not everything needs to be gated behind crafting right? i craft my self but it be nice to get some really cool room stuff by doing runs lol hell it may keep ppl doing runs longer :P

i'm not going to be rude and say something like too bad or your loss but rather anyone can join a FC and get a room right? i know plenty of FCs that allow ppl to have there own rooms so it's only 300k. Join my fc ill let you have your own room :P

Only if they're additional drops and not "instead of" drops. Loot tables in HW dungeons are absolutely stupid with how many things they have per chest already (and made worse by how often every side chest has garbage instead of loot).

Yes exactly additional drops i mean who wants a plush of a boss you beat or maybe a fat cat? or maybe a cool rug of a monster or boss of that run or hell maybe it's head? or poster? really anything i mean SE did go the way of PSU when it comes to setting up your room so why not ^V^

Would be useful,my retainer always bring back the fishes .. She's not even fisher ...

You can get mats for furnitures from dungeons and trials already.
Not exactly the same what OP want, because there is still work to do to get the furniture, but similar enough.

you can also sell the mats and buy the finished furniture with the gil (if you farmed and sold enough mats) in the MB.

Think someone's probably beaten me to it, but isn't that what retainer quests are for?

Make them really awesome. Also, make them untradeable/unsellable. Watch the forums burn, as SE once again rubs in peoples' faces how few of them can actually obtain a house, even if they have the money.

"Well, gee, I just got this great, rare, untradeable furnishing. Would be nice if I had something to, you know, furnish."

I think you're idea is neat, who doesn't love getting the occasional rare vanity item from dungeons? I know I get excited to see a pet drop, but I think a lot of crafters (myself included) are worried that crafting has only a few roles in FFXIV and one of the few things it does excel at is making vanity items (glamours, pets, furnishings) so the idea of taking some of that away from them doesn't sit well. So I agree with Nalien, if furnishing items are going to drop from dungeons I would rather it be the mats and keep crafters in the loop.

The idea would work if housing was more common. As it stands now, only a handful of people out of a ton have houses and if you are one of the many who don't have one, getting a piece of furniture as a reward in a dungeon is a slap in the face "Hey, see this niiiiice chair? If only you had a house to use it in!" That's why a lot of people hated that one seasonal event that offered nothing but furniture because if they didn't have a house, then there was no point in getting the items.


Not to mention that you couldn't really sell the furniture drops for a good chunk of change unless the drop rate was pre Atma numbers.

And what about the myriad FC members who don't want to leave because they actually like said FC that don't have houses? Look, I know you're coming from a good place with all this, but there really is a huge housing problem and you can't pretend there isn't one. I *have* an FC house, but I acknowledge that this situation is ridiculous.
