I know CG and all the mechanic is not even compare to ff14 but i'm actually enjoying this a lot more than daily ex roulette... I'm still enjoying ff14 but if you are too bored with it, i would recommend try something different none mmo for a change.
After work, once I've done daily, i spend about an hour on Witcher 3 and spend most of time toying with FF7 on my pad until gf get mad. :rolleyes:
FF7 is out and I feel all nostalgic... :)

FFVII was great...that was my introduction into the series. I came home one day to see my brother playing and saw the part where you are going through the snow. I was hooked and had to go buy it immediately and start playing...I have never looked back and have enjoyed every FF "main" title since. My favorite is a tie between 7 and 8...but 14 is blowing those out of the water (graphics, to a point really help the game). can't imagine playing that on my iphone though...no tablet...guess means no play...damn it.

FFVII was a great game but...and here I will get flamed perhaps... It wasn't my favorite RPG of all time or even my favorite Final Fantasy. I wonder if some of its appeal is that it is people's intro to the series...and if that's the reason that's fine! I know many people's favorite Zeldas are whichever one they started on, as it was the freshest experience for them.
I am one of only a small number that prefers IX and X over VII as far as the "modern" FFs go. Where am I going with this......?

I think the issue with VII (and also VIII), is that it's not aged well in terms of graphics and gameplay.
With the exception of the first 3 games (I'm not speaking of remakes in this case, but the original release themselves), IV-V-VI are way better in terms of aged graphics: sure they are 2D and the controls are clunky but they're at least very charming to look at and very colorful; VII on the other hand is a mess now, with its weird looking 3D characters that just don't feel right in this time and can make someone cringe in nuisance. VIII is fine graphically, but IX? It's very bright, colorful, and it's a reminiscent of the old releases with a proper fantasy setting which is something that, for the exception of XII, we won't see ever again. Unless you count X too.
In terms of gameplay it's also another issue: all of the games prior to VII and VIII had unique character with their unique skills that settled them apart from the others; yes V had the job system, potentially making everyone the same, but you could still customize their skills to make hybrids. In VII and VIII however, each character is a blank slate with only their limit breaks separating them apart and that also gave me troubles to enjoy the combat nowadays: whenever one left the team, I just used his or her materia on someone else without much difference in terms of damage and hp, something that made me hate XII too since you had 6 characters but they were virtually the exact same character. IX and X on the other hand used the old way, with X giving the chance of customizing their skills by learning other characters' ones.
TL;DR IX is more like the old FF games. I liked the old FF games. Hence my /thumbsup! -

VII is still a fine, fine game don't get me wrong, I've played it more than once and I own Advent Children. I just need more Zindane Tribal and Kuja in my life. That game was nuts in a way I really loved.
I liked VIII too, actually, but it was probably the weakest game for me. VIII and XIII. -

If you ask me FF7 is one of those "you had to be there" things to really see why it was mindblowing at the time. Up to that point video games in general had really not offered anything in the way of a "cinematic experience" like FF7 did (unless you count something like Dragon's Lair but that's pretty much just an interactive movie) which is why people went crazy for it.
I enjoyed FF7 at the time but I really feel it hasn't aged very well, especially compared to FFT which surprisingly was released the same year. That game has aged gorgeously. -

I'd assume they've lost their source code for FF7, and that's why the Steam release of 7 and the rest were all just 1998 PC's FF7 re-released instead of polishing a fresh executable.
