When will be able to advance beyond second leuitenent?

It's been this way for years right? Do you think they are going to expand the grand company ranks any time soon?

In recent live letter, Yoshi-P mentioned that they are working on how to impliment higher ranks into your GC, but that they want it to be something more than just turn in X amount of seals and do a duty. He mentioned something about unlocking GC mercenaries that you can hire to do content with you.

But remember, he also said "personal housing will be different and cheaper than FC housing" and took many months to implement it...exactly the same as FC housing. So don't get your hopes up, it'll most likely just be more of turning in X amount of seals and doing a dungeon. Or turning in items bought with seals and doing a trial, because it's different!

There are 3 more tabs for more ranks...I have been wondering about this forever.

The ranks are all in there already. You can check them if you click on your GC rank in the Character screen. It's just give us access.

Why, the GC system seems pointless as it's only use these days is for Frontlines and that's creates problems in itself.

Are GCs a relic from 1.x per chance?

I am just thinking about the Ul'dah story line... and how you would be able to even get a promotion with the allegations against you right now.

during the HW storyline Lolorito and the Syndicate clear the names of the Warrior of Light, the Scions and Raubahn for any wrongdoing - given the fact that Nanamo actually is very much alive thanks to Lolorito's extended Batman gambit playing out how he wanted it to.

Besides, the final 'Tales From the Dragonsong War' on the Lodestone all but screamed that if the Scions had remained in custody after the banquet and hadn't fled like we did, Lolorito would have actually exonerated us and released us shortly thereafter anyway once Teledji was 'removed' from the equation, the whole point of the conspiracy.

But I digress...

Either way, it would be nice to actually get further promotions in the Grand Companies beyond a mere Second Liuetenant, given we're no mere adventurer but the Warrior of Light, but then, I think there would have to be an actual better reason for us to even be still associating with them, given we're still technically throwing our lot in with Ishgard and House Fortemps, although a renewed Garlean attack on Eorzean soil would be as good a reason as any I guess.

Priority was to finally have all 4 allied together once again against the empire...
Now they can focus on counterfight the garleans, but...
Somehow i have a feeling the history will repeat - do you know what "really" happened at Silvertear Lake?
They have rebuild the airship and who will protect Hydaelyn, now that Midgardsormr cant do it any more?
There must be something Midgardsormr was desperately protecting with his own life!

The more I consider the HW storyline, particularly the revelations in Azys Lla, the more I think Midgardsormr is similar to Hydaelyn; perhaps the personification of another planet somewhere else in the universe. We are told that he 'came to this star' which lends some possibility to that theory. So, why is he protecting Hydaelyn? If I'm right, it's because they are mates, that Hydaelyn is the mother of those first seven dragons with Midgardsormr as the father. If all that is true then yes, he would probably give his life (temporarily) to defend her against the destruction the Empire was going to cause.

Given that we're officers, doing something like leading successful field operations with GC NPCs would be a great way to advance through the ranks!

A certain main scenario instance showed us this was possible (and SE, I bet that was your sly way of testing that), and Alphunaud showed that even an NPC could make an effective (not perfect) battle partner.

I propose the idea of high ranking GC leves/GC-hests that utilize this system!

well, if they ever decide to increase our ranks, i hope they bring back the chocobo caravans.the open world zones need more content anyways.and i actually liked doing caravan runs (not only because i got my chocobo mask from there ;D)

Might be fun actually. Had a quest in AST where npc "tank" used flash to draw aggro

more ranks just to have more ranks is boring, i hope they have actual content to do and actual benefits in ranking up.

Would be very nice to hire mercenaries to fight alongside you, would feel like the first Final Fantasy series.. if, just like retainers, they could lvl up with you, and get new sets of skills.. I would so love it! :D

On the other hand, if everyone can solo queue through all except Extremes, people would complaint even more about the longer DF queues.. sigh.. so hard to balance everything..
