Carbontwine, Carboncoat and Encrypted Tomestone

Could these items be added as World of Darkness drops much like Sands of Time, Oil of time and Unidentified Allagan Tomestone were added to Syrcus Tower? It's old content but outside of Final Coil (that not everyone can farm) and hunts (that not a lot of people do), the only other way to get them is still under a weekly lockout, and the queues for the 3 raids are pretty long now that it's old content.

Like I said, almost no one does them anymore. I can't solo A and S-ranks, and with only dailies/weeklies (which is what I am doing now) I get 548 seals a week. A carboncoat costs 3000.

Outside of Coil, the other alternatives are still paced as if it was still relevant content. Getting to 130 still takes as much as it did in 2.55.

Honestly, they should just add them to poetics like they added the newer upgrade materials to laws. Simple as that.

Are you limited to lvl50? If not (in other words, you own Heavensward) then completely ignore the Ironworks gear because vendors sell almost as good in Ishgard. You should also be able to buy crafted HQ versions on the marketplace that are i115 that are pretty damn good.

Of course, if you are limited to 2.x content then Augmented Ironworks is the best but you're severely limiting yourself by not getting Heavensward.

Yes, I don't own Heavensward. I need them for final Coil (and I would like them for glamour but that's not a priority right now, I am still gearing up my main) because it's the best I can get.

FFXIV is my first MMO so I didn't really know how things worked. I hated lockouts and decided to quit and come back when they'd be lifted, so it was weird seeing there this items gated like this when Syrcus Tower's system was excellent.
I'd rather wait till 4.0 drops or close to that so I can do everything I want and avoid all the lockouts/walls/excessive grinding and farming. It's worked very well so far. This is the first thing wall I've hit and it's not in line with how they've handled tomestone gear in the past, so I hope they'll change it when the new raid comes and people will flock there.

its very doubtful theyll change poectics by now. heavensward is totally different compared to what happend before with these stones. so dont count on that. also 4.0 is still nearly 2 years away probaly. a bit long wait i would say^^

poetics are very likely to be completly removed at some point down the line. its unlikely SE is going to address this. the towers are dead currently or atleast nearly. the new 24th raid wont revive em all of a sudden. theyll probaly be made 8 man dungeons and can be synced rather than that.

also finding people to clear final coil at 50 after HW? very likely not gonna happen anymore except if its all friends/fc members. best method is to buy HW level to 60 get better gear WITHOUT any lockouts (i180) and just unsync run it. way easier and way more likely to work imo.

Actually, it's really not that much easier to run Final Coil unsynced, and in some ways it's harder because you have to be VERY cautious with your DPS in T13 or you can push Bahamut in extremely awkward ways. The mechanics will still wreck you, even unsynced.

My FC is very helpful but the least I an do is be as powerful as I can be.

I guess in the meantime if anyone is still doing hunts on Moogle, hit me up.

They should loosen up the requirements and let these be more easily accessible to those that need them. I ran the weekly CT quest to get the tomestone to get my Ironworks Dark Knight Weapon to tide me over a while and it was like going through the pains of hell to beat all three of those. I had to FATE Grind while I waited roughly 3 hours for each one to que and then once inside it was a nightmare...Labrynth was actually the best group of folks out of all three runs...wow...still bad times in there, can't believe it.

They're probably not going to touch any of this since the rewards become obsolete by your mid-50s. There's no reason to care about any of these items unless for glamour purposes.

Continuing to play FFXIV after lvl 50 doesn't make a great deal of sense without HW (i.e. I'd get the expansion if I intended to keep playing since progression comes to a screeching halt otherwise), and as others pointed out, functional gear for 50+ is readily available from NPCs and from quests.

Doing it at 60 is easy enough but doing things like T9 that require mechanics people don't understand them and end up failing that's the biggest issue running coil. Your best advice is to buy HW OP and join everyone doing Alex, glamour farms, PvP etc it'd be much more enjoyable than trying to do old raids that get boring after the 1000th time.

TC, just get the expansion and move past that content. The reason no one is doing it is there is no incentive to do it, and everyone else has moved on past it (by getting the expansion and doing its content). You are only falling afoul of the consequences of ignoring one rule of MMO's : keep up with the expansions or quit entirely. As you are experiencing, failure to follow this rule sees you left behind, as people move on to expansion content and stop wanting to do old content. Do yourself the favor and just get the expansion.

If you're having issues soloing A ranks, I suggest you try leveling another class that isn't WHM. I know for a fact that WARs can solo ARR A ranks without even needing a bird out. I'd assume it'd be a joke for any tank class with bird out, as I can solo HW A ranks with my PLD.

Thank you, I had thought about it actually but didn't know how viable it was and I'm not very experienced tank. I did one with my PLD but I had a healer back me up. My bird is a DPS but I might respec it as a Healer (or just make it learn some Healer abilities when he levels up). I haven't even joined the Marauder's guild yet but I'm gonna give it another shot with my PLD.

some a marks can be soloed by a 60 war. i did it myself. others dont since they have some kind of specialskill that will fuck you over even at 60. they still deal some damage tough. the main issue is that it TAKES AGES to kill ONE of em even at 60. not really worth it i say^^ post on a ls and some people will come and end it quickly.

For Lv50 As, see Dalvag's Final Flame and its Tornado attack, and any Mark whose AoE damage was meant to be split between party members, usually by stacking (Sabotender Bailarina comes to mind).
A reasonably geared PLD or WAR can take a hit but it will leave them in need of healing, but good luck if you aren't prepared to deal with the next one. Mechanics are still there, so job changes / pets / companions may be a necessity even when fully leveled.

Summoner is most likely the best compromise in terms of safety/damage output, provided you keep both your pet and choco out in the field. That said, I've downed Melt and Vogal Jaa as a tank, but... yes, if you're on your own it takes ages.

Concerning Lv60 As and above, I can think of Mirka because silencing its attacks is vital in avoiding a wipe: he's kind of Maahes 2.0 in that sense, only much more aggressive.
