Tombstone of Soldiery

How do we get things that used to be given out with this item? I heard they are no longer available and am not aware of how to get the items they previously gave.

Forgive me if I am incorrect in thought, but I believe the gear was placed into the dungeons as a drop. So if your hunting for Darklight and the such, you will find it in Hardmodes and the like....I believe. I'm sure someone who knows more will post though. Which begs to ask, why did I bother? Dunno

I know for sure that at least darklight is dungeon drop in the HM dungeons.

Tomes of Soldiery items are now purchased with Allied Seals by undertaking Hunts. You can get them from the Hunt Billmaster found in the three Grand Company HQs (the one standing near the Hunt Board wearing the Elite GC gear for that Company).

I think there's also dyeable crafted version of all of them which, depending on if you've leveled crafters or have money to burn, may be easier to get than grinding out seals.

They can be bought from vendor node at Azys Lla.

As far as I know, the unweathered ilvl110 soldiery now became part of the quest rewards for new players (main quests) but you can still get the weathered version with Allied seals. You can also buy a different variation of soldiery gears (lvl60) at Azys Lla but in appearance they are missing some parts and have different base colors which might not to your preference. If you don't mind the color/appearance of the lv60 gears, you can buy them with affordable gil price otherwise you will have to get enough Allied Seals and run through second coil/ST for the sands to make soldiery gears dyeable.

I think it's a easy mix-up personally. It's like we are killing people/monsters and they are dead. Maybe it would be like a trophy, but it still doesn't make sense as we aren't burying them. Also, wouldn't we *give* them a tombstone, instead of take one? lol

But perhaps a mental slip is happening there. Also, I don't believe that people read it correctly because tomestone is I guess a book of some kind? But why is it a rock? Someone help me out here... :P I know people don't engrave these books on rocks... or do they? :P

Any minion that used to be sold for Soldiery tomes (or any earlier tier of tomes) is still sold, just for poetics instead, I think. I might be wrong.

Tombstone is pronounced "tombstone", while tomestone is pronounced "Throatwobbler Mangrove".

If anyone knows for sure could they say so? Wiki doesn't seem to be updated as it still says the soldiery, I appreciate all input none the less.

Logged back in to check, the ones being sold for poetics now are the ones that were sold for earlier tomes back in the day.

Darklight gear (philosophal) = Andapor / Brayflox HM / Halatali HM
AF 1 (mythologic) = The island thing/ Tam-tara HM / Stone vigil HM (tokens)
Soldiery gear = Allied seal but have a equivalent gear in azys lla lvl 58, dyable.

Clever analogy, but the word "tomestone" was invented for FFXIV (I don't know if it's in earlier FF episodes but it's definitely made up). I guess that's why so many people are confused as to the spelling.

Yeah. FFXIV has taken a lot of things that exist and have names already and renamed them just because. A well known review of the game actually elaborates on that and the reviewer mentions how it annoys him.

Rowena explains it in the game, but basically what you're giving her in exchange for gear are Allagan tomes inscribed on "stones", covering various topics (Philosophy, Mythology, Law, Poetry, etc). It's common for most people to just associate it with "tombstone" and not bother to look into it beyond that.
