level 23..what grand company to choose?

Hi,

I'm now level 23 and pretty confused about what grand company to choose.

Whats the difference? Is there a page where I can look at cosmetic differences? I'm thinking for armor...both my toon and for the mount....

As a serious answer the differences are all cosmetic (and if you like PVP, it determines your team as you will only be paired up with GC mates), so...go with whichever one you think is the best. Also you can change your GC affiliation every fifteen days, for a fee, so you aren't locked into it forever (you may have to reach level 50 first..not too sure I have never switched personally but friends have).
(you should pledge yourself to the Admiral though)

I think that maelmstrom gear is the coolest looking imo. red and black...and pirate look kinda fits the style if I want to go with using a pistol..machinist?

Clearly the best, because the Admiral herself uses pistols, so yes..it looks cool
And I know the MCH weapons you can buy with the Storm Seals (they are usually leveling weapons but you can use them for glamour of course) look pretty good, even for just recolours.

You can always switch later on. First switch is free after that you have to pay Gil. Do keep in mind though that if you switch, you have to start again from lowest rank. :)

I went with Maelstrom purely because that was one of Sorceress Ultimecia's attacks in FFVIII <3

Just be aware you can't actually switch GCs til much later in the game (when you reach the current highest GC rank of Second Lieutenant), and to get promotions requires quite a bit of work.

Also the Order of the Twin Adder would beat the 'Failstrom' any day. ;)

If you are really into collecting everything (barding, minions, etc.) after checking out their gear looks and such, your favorite one, set that aside. Do one of the other 2, collect the barding and minions and anything else, change to the other of the other 2, do the same, and lastly, transfer to your now favorite one, get all of them collectables and stay put. But, what a grind that is.

I dont realy care about minions and such I dont think i ever will have them out..(I dont like animals in real life either;)..well i like them..but only if they are tending themselves in the wild)....but i care greatly about the way my toon look. And from the looks on the costumes i think I like the maelstrom best....but ofc..I'm not sure. The good thing was...seems like there are only a few cosmetic options avilable to each company. Meaning..you dont loose out on much gear by having to choose one of them....

And the guild thing...free companies its called? I have not joined one yet..and i plan to not join one before i hit max level and want to start raiding casually. Before this I'm having a blast with the quest story and random pugs for the story dungeons:)
