Undersized parties don't allow relic progress?

Just found this and while I shouldn't have been surprised, I'm actually a bit more confused on this. We can go through 90% of the content with an undersized party and get clears and farm away, which I'm sure many of us are aware of. But why would they restrict us from completing a relic through the use of undersizing a dungeon and soloing it? In the end it's really no skin off my back since I already have a zeta, but for those new players who might have wanted to try and get one without the horrendously bad wait timers for specific dungeons, this seems like a huge step back in terms of keeping content alive.

My best guess is because a large part of why those dungeons were required for relics in the first place was to reduce q times for people that needed them.

Which step in particular are you referring to? last I checked you could use undersized for all relic steps that required running duties.

Pretty sure it's the light farm. No spamming Sastasha over and over for insanely quick clears. :(

I ran Cutters Cry with myself, playing Talk and a friend of mine as a Summoner. We cleared the dungeon easily, but when we got out the dungeon wasn't marked off in the book. Unless you actually need 4 people for it to register, this will be very saddening if they keep the current setup of needing to be in a normal set up party for such old content to be done.

I know the key items from the end of the hard modes is doable in an undersized party. Smells like a bug for either or... And I hope it's a bug of the books.

I hope it is a bug, but with it being so old I don't think they will fix it. I know some of the dungeons on hard would be a bit challenging to run solo and the option to get a random relic done was a plus. But oh well back to the Eso/Alex grind.

Did you forget to equip your relic weapon when you were killing the boss? My friend and I have been doing the Animus step recently so we've been 2-manning dungeons and we've had no problems getting credit.

Incidentally is that the book of Netherfall that you're talking about? I'm on that one now so I might go and confirm whether it's bugged or not.

Need relic equipped for last boss. I ran my friend through plenty of undersized dungeons for his books.

Farming light for Novus stage in undersized party doesn't work. Tested it myself with a Sastasha run as a NIN with Yoshi novus equipped. Same with Zodiac lights.

But you can go in undersized party for books. You just have to equip your Atma weapons that's all. Tested with my NIN as well.

I don't know about Zodiac items though.

Zodiac Relic still happen. I did Halatali HM alone with SCH and I got the item from the boss.

I did the last of my book dungeons solo/unsized, so I know for a fact you can do it~

It might have been bugged on my end, the only thing is I was switching between weapons during the run, but finished it with the relic on. Maybe when I get back home I'll run it again. So hopefully it was due to me switching around, though I remember when I finished my zeta I was able to switch from the relic to something else during the books and get credit as long as I had the relic equipped. Maybe this is what changed.

The 'dungeon' entries for the books are actually just monster kills - you get credit when you kill the boss of the dungeon with the relic equipped, and they'll even have the book target icon over their healthbar like the other enemies for books. You can do them undersized, as well.

Light farming definitely doesn't work with undersized, although they did double the rate of light gain (again) with 3.0.

Someone else will have to clarify if the Zodiac dungeon drops can be acquired with undersized - I'm not bothering with that until I have a -lot- more gil, and the only drop I did get so far was in HM roulette.

What not work in undersized party is light farming and spiritbounding.
