Ghastly

Warrior Decimate is too weak

Even with berserk and maim Decimate is just too weak:confused:
Anyone else agree or am I missing something?

With my crappy gear I can crit 3k on everything I hit with decimate. Doesn't seem too bad to me for a tank.

Numbers don't mean much in terms of comparing to each other (we'll all have different attribute points).
What I'd like to compare are the different skills, how are we ever going to choose decimate over fell cleave? it's illogical...

280 Raw Potency per target is absurd.
To put into perspective; if you hit two targets with Decimate thats 280*2 right? Thats a total of 560, which is already better than Fell Cleave.
3 Targets? 280*3 which is... You guessed it! 840! 4? 5? 6? The potential is only limited by its range.

This logic applies to all AoE skills.

Any time there's more than 1 target Decimate is stronger. If you don't believe me, believe in math.

2 Targets
Decimate Potency: 280 + 280 = 560
Fell Cleave Potency: 500

Throw in the fact that you should be popping internal release for added crit, 10% added crit from 5 stacks of uncontrolled, and B2B Decimate from infuriated.

I agree, we should be doing about as much DPS as the DRG or NIN or MNK in our groups! We're melee DPS too, why are we such gimp DPS compared to them????

Yeah, it doesn't make sense that we have the biggest weapon in the game but a guy who punches things with fists or stabs with small knives does more DPS, right?

I agree warriors need more dps, yes we all know the warrior does the highest dps of all three tanks, and it has the highest potency skill in the game (fell Cleave),and it is known as ONE of the strongest jobs in the whole game, also with its strong self healing to support its dps, the warrior is in dire need of a dps increase cuz these dps jobs are giving them to much competition. LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This is a great example of this game's indolent approach. Sometimes it's because of reading comprehension, but a quick read of the skill should make everything clear. OP doesn't seem to be weak at English.

When I said Highest potency skill in the game I meant flat potency, no buffs or DOTS, yes chaos thrust does do a total of 600 potency but that's in 30 seconds with the 35 potency DOT, take away the DOT and its potency is 250 and the DRK skill is carve and spit with a potency of 450 under dark arts no other skill does a flat 500 potency to a single target (none that I know of at least)

Decimate needs to be a raid wide effect that hits both allies and enemies. It also needs to last 1 hour and do 1.00x10^9 potency per 1.00x^-9 sec that is on a 11 second cooldown. Oh yeah, everything it kills drops warrior loot.

Agree! 100% on that. first time i used it was like whaaaaaat did I do anything??? think the dev who done the sound must have had his music playing to loud so he skipped a sound file.

Um...that's simple. Look at the tooltip:

Compare that to our other AoE dmg/threat grabs:
Steel Cyclone:

Ignores the 35% damage penalty inflicted by Defiance.

In other words, Decimate does more dmg. So, why not use it? Yes, the magic numbers of Decimate aren't as great. But that's because it's an AoE attack. AoEs always does less dmg to each mob they hit than single targets attacks do, but AoEs do either equal or more dmg overall.
