Hm, such as what? Elemental properties are rather useless since most things don't use them anyway, and it would take a lot of points for it to matter in later content.
you mean like giving WARs dual axes?
What do you mean different properties?
Wars get Hatchets instead of Axe, Mch gets water gun, bard gets sling shot, whm/blm gets a stick, sch/smn get a notepad, plds already had daggers so butter knives.
In all serious there is a wide variety of glamour weapons. What you are not going to get is vertical progression gear. They have been pretty clear on that for all the whatevers that don't want to accept what job they chose and want to fight the mold.
Yas dual-wielding Axes is nifty would be fun as WAR. NIN could get a few tachi two-handed style swords or shuriken... Bard could get a crossbow... \o/

In before -> "This is FFXIV don't make it more like FFXI /tantrum" but yeah - it was fun being able to put on different weapon styles and even more fun trying different combos when dual-wield became a thing to see which weapon matches complimented each other.
Ho-hum.
I wouldn't even say that's making XIV more like XI but more like nearly every other MMO on the market that allows you some variance in weapon choices, from WoW and GW2 to DCUO and many other games on the market, a ton of MMO's allow you to have multiple weapon options.
It'd be great if XIV started looking into this as well, as it's a great way to add more variety and fresh appeal to a class.
Like a PLD with a mace or MNKs wielding a staff, maybe even DRK with a scythe or WAR with a hammer, it'd be cool to open up some new playstyle possibilities.
I doubt we'll see them change the weapon options for the current classes. What I would love though were more options for weapon skins, just a few examples:
1. Give warrior a weapon skin of the hammer carried by Nero in Castrum or of the giant at the end of Copperbell normal mode.
2. Give paladin a saber weapon skin.
3.Give Mch a crossbow weapon skin.
4. Give Drk the Garlean two handed gunblade weapon skin.
You get the idea.
Ugh does anyone recall trying to cap those weapon skills in ffxi? As long as I don't have to auto atttack wadi hares for hours I'm game( I'd love to see scythes for war or drk)
Level a botanist, they get a scythe. Having played drk during FFXI's level 75 cap it was just like the old days, that is to say, stuck using the great sword with a scythe in my inventory I wasn't able to use! If you played drk back then you know what I mean, g.sword and /thf all day every day. .-.
Arcanist = Dual Book? (derp)
eww no, just give us hammers like this guy

Nero even uses the same moveset that the warrior has but wields a hammer.
I loved capping great katana, swords, and throwing on my ninja. it was fun and different. I love my war but i'm a bit tired of the weapon. something simple as changing a weapon makes it kind of new. not asking for the amazing all new weapon skills like ffxi, but say war can use dual axes and it lowers GCD while lowering damage on skills?
it will never happen though, the fact that classes/jobs are tied to weapons kind of ruins that.
How about a whip

Or
Bow staff

black mage doll or nothing at all please I want to have dolls as a weapon
In all seriousness, it would be a decent idea if implemented correctly. Of course, they would have to do some serious reworking. They would have to add specs to each job so one weapon type does not become the go to weapon for raiding. Otherwise, there would be no point to adding weapon types. "WAR 2h axe is better than dual wielding axe. If you DW then you're a bad. Get out of here scrub." Turning weapon types into specs allows the different weapon types to become relevant for different types of play. NOW as to what each job can have..... See below.
Dragoon: Dragoons typically use spears, so it'd be difficult to come up with a decent weapon. However, fear not. The Great Iskandar provides an answer through the use of Final Fantasies of ages past.

Paladin: Paladins can be given maces, can go to two handing their swords, or do something like so.

Warrior: Pretty easy to figure out. Go from having 1 big axe to dual wielding axes.

Dark Knight: Another easy one. Have them go from two handing swords to two handing combat scythes.
http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2...ht_Artwork.jpg
Monk: Combat staff, tonfa. Monk weapons are a bit easy to find.
Ninja: Shuriken, chain blades. Maybe take something from Edge.
http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2.../50/EdgeDS.jpg
Bard: Cross Bows. That'd be pretty much what they would get.
Machinist: Dual wielding pistols instead of holding one big hand cannon. Or they could go a more obscure route. Those that remember these...

Summoner: Give them the cudgels that Black Mages don't really use these days. Summoners are also knows for having staves in the FF series. Maybe a symbol representing the element of the summon they are calling forth can appear above the cudgels or staves that they use.
Black Mage: This one is a bit tricky. Though there is always an answer. We can thank Lulu from X for this.

White Mage: Only thing I can think of is turning their wands/shield combo into it's own spec. White Mages use staves/canes. They are probably the hardest one to find something for.
Scholar: Hard one hard one.....Follow in the footsteps of your leader and fellow scholar!

Astrologian: This one I have failed you guys with. Astro has no final fantasy history. Maybe those compasses used in olden times to navigate the seas by night or a star chart.
We need a class that has the greatest weapon of all time.

The board with a nail in it.
Nah, secondary weapons is an awful idea, because the time it would take to implement, new animation, potentially new skills, new models for x weapons would be better spent just making a new job out of them rather than what happened with SMN/SCH.
The race that needs to be added is this: As far as the weapon:

Color of the skin for both races could be this:

Male Golem:

Female Golem:

weapon type define the class, because changing weapon type change the class.
Give the current classes another new weapon type and the types of weapon for future classes get limited.
