Word of warning, it may just be me... BUT... are the graphics slightly better, lit better or something?
Don't know why but my graphics seem clearer and also better at further distances.

Seems slightly more optimized to me, also the FPS limiter is nice for towns, when I go AFK or just wait for a shout with FPS limited to 30 my Graphics card sits in the 50's :D w00t my room no longer feels like an oven while i wait
Maybe. I've gotten hit with two DX9 crashes so far, so they did something.
I got hit with a crash on the character select screen once but nothing since
Every time a new patch comes out the game feels faster and seems to run smoother. I think it has more to do with the server reset they do than it does with the graphics engine. After a few days/weeks it always goes back to normal.
I don't doubt that they are slowly optimizing everything. I mean, it makes sense. Even the UI is more responsive, it's amazing.
Hasn't crashed on me yet. I have a GTX580 graphics card, and it always ran good before, but running it in 30fps mode is smoooth. So glad they added this option.
They been working to make icons sharper. There's better shading going on. They added some lighting enhancements. If you hadn't heard sure there is a slew of people with crashing problems...mostly due to graphical issues seem ATI isolated. Turning off a few in-game settings fixes this issue.
I really wish they could do something about the major screen tearing if you are not using vsync. Kind of forces you to enable vsync with a third party tool or suffer horrible tearing. Performance is then degraded. The information have yet to try out the new frame limiter though. Wonder if that will help.
It's you. Placebo etc.
I don't care. Nothing has changed.
I'm experience random crash on the field and in the town..
I donno what happen ( maybe because i was messing with their dat before? .. lol )
Try to restore all dat to original state but the crash still the same.
my GPU is GTX460
Try on my notebook ( super low graphic setup ) no crash at all ==' i'm confuse
idk ive never had a problem befor the patch. now i crash everytime i use the map, change my gear,or use my items and ive tryed everything ive turned the graphics down all the way ive tryed the 30fps idk it sucks
There were lighting enhancements added in 1.18, dunno about 19.
I guess my random crash might be related to the ones people posting here, went to call my retainer and adv guild in Limsa and it crashed, tried again and it crashed again. HD5770 with newest driver avail here.
Something has definitely been tweaked with the graphics. I noticed it immediately upon logging in. I dunno if it's the fluidity, overall sharpness, lighting, or what, but there's some slight difference.
Also try installing the latest beta drivers, if they're available.
I had literally the same reaction. "Wait. Does the lighting look better? I don't know, maybe softer or something? And the water on Iron Lake looks different. Is it just reflection from a different sky, or maybe I'm just remembering wrong?"
So, yes, I think it's been changed slightly. And for the better, in my opinion. (Of course, I haven't had any crashes ... yet ... so others may feel differently. :) )
Today I crashed for the first time since 1.17 (or so) but only once. As far as graphics and performance goes, I notice no difference.
the river in Gridania looked better to me. Limsa water as well.
AND DEF THE LIGHTING.
Sunrise in Limsa looked very very amazing.
Colors/lighting/water ftw!
team makes changes: everyone whines
team does nothing: oh my gosh it looks better, the lighting, the colors, THE WATER MAN LOOK AT THE WATER!
team scratches head, continuing not to fix the graphics
On both of my PCs with ATI's I've yet to crash. There does indeed seem to be some improvements, or rather optimizations given the 30/60 FPS switch -- This means they have been actually working on the engine because this and last patch were paying close attention to the core of the game as well as content relation.
Had to +1 this statement, made me genuinely laugh.
I also noticed the very slight improved performance post 1.19 patch. However I had my NVIDIA driver crash on me today and FFXIV crash on me again after using the Return command to go back to Uldah. Not sure if they're related in any way to the patch, but it's the first time it's crashed since 1.17 for me.
Looks the same to be but again im not playing on the highest on my crappy overclocked 8400 GS :s.
Whatever the case, the game has been running much much smoother for me.
I don't see a difference in the quality of the graphics but when the game is set to 30 fps it runs so very much smoother now. That is not to be denied on my machine. Only weird thing is with general drawing quality set to 9 the game fps drops to literally 1 fps when I start to teleport. The its the actual animation that is doing it.
Buttery smooth other than that, with msaa 8, all other ffconfig settings set to highest, but no ao or dof. I would say it's the frame limiter alone that is providing the improvements, and but with the whole teleport thing and other people getting crashing issues wouldn't that point to some changes to the graphics coding?
