[dev1184] The following adjustments have been made to the minimap.
The color tone of the minimap will be adjusted to improve the visibility of the character's field-of-view.
Notorious monsters now have their own icons.
why oh why would they do this? i sure hope thats a after claim mark.
I fail to see how this effects anything beyond offending your personal view of how FFXIV should look like.

It's just going to make it easier to see if you're looking for the claim. If anything it's just a race to get there when it pops.
It could help you get the claim faster or screw you if you were farther away than another group, so it'll break even, right?

I approve. It doesn't make the game more noob friendly.
i not seen it yet but i don't think i like the sound of it either. but this isn't ffxi. but if you take ffxi as an example there were things like peacock charm nm, people rather then camping it themselves used other people they new were camping it as markers for the tod, on top that ...there were shared nm in that one, so if u can see the nm icon it makes it even worse. lol for that nm especially i would kill the other nm but stay for hours pretending i still looking for the nm just to screw with these peoples tod. but anywho i'm sure nm's in ffxiv won't be like this but still it's kinda cool that people not on the ball can miss the kill and be confused so others on the ball can get another pull in.
nother example megalo, i would pop and pull him as far as i can cause lot of people camped it and not new the force pop. lol. :)

It's not even CHANGING anything. Groups always knew pretty much where NMs pop,so they stayed closed to that place.
Just by watching the minimap closely you could see a new yellow ball (the NM respawn) pop up.
Only differece is that it's a different symbol now so you won't have to watch the minimap so closely.

maybe they planning something like Monster Hunter in future where you can actually track where the NM/HNM is running off after you first engage on some epic battles they might add in the future??
I don't see anything wrong with NM's having it's own icon.
People are really not competitive in FFXIV mostly because they are either WoW players or they are FF fanboys. My linkshell has rocked up to so many camps and people have just left because they can't get claims in. But this feature will make it a little bit easier for noobs, they still have to kill it so its not so bad.
OMFG THERE ARE ICONS FOR THINGS WE ALREADY KNOW ABOUT ON THE MAP!!!! That's it guys, game over. The sky is actually falling this time, the world is ending. I mean how dare SE completely tear at the fabric of the game by putting another icon on the mini-map?! You know what, forget all the hard work the devs have done and all the other great changes they've brought about, I'm quitting the game now.
theres a few things i thought were a bit more immerssive.
like in FFXI only certain classes were able to see mobs on the map, and each of those classes were able to see mobs at certain distances on the map.
i wish it was made that way instead.
can someone please make a mini map app for my cellphone too, that way i can just afk in the living room till it pops and i can come to my fellow linkshells aid. hooza.
