Just something for fun but what are some old FF dungeons you would like to see reinvented in the game? I'll start if off by saying FFV Ship Graveyard.

Probably Memoria, Ipsen's Castle or Gizamaluke's Grotto from FFIX. Would be amazing to have. ;__;
Eureka. But I'm sure they already have plans, soon, for that place.
none. More focus on making stuff unique to XIV.
Yea i'd like to have the Knights of the round table from FFVII as a Trial

And what are the "real ones"? They existed only on FFVII with no lore, story or deeper context. They were merely a summon bound to Materia. I don't know how they would be brought to XIV and be more "real" than they already are. They've already been given a pretty core role in the main story. I'd call that more than a "wink".
Yes, I do.
However, what you said was "Yea i'd like to have the Knights of the round table from FFVII as a Trial". Knights of the Round in VII had no story or lore, they just existed. Final Fantasy XIV already incorporated them with a storyline and purpose, which I said is more than just a wink at the original implementation of the knights.
Yea i was able to read your two lines of explanation. Was just kidding.
But for me the FF take place on our Earth, whatever is his name ingame. We could talk about stories that takes place looong loooong ago or in a very far futur.
It's like Odin. He's a god from the human pantheon (as Fenrir is). I wouldn't be shocked, in term of lore, to see the KotR as a primordial. We could say they personify honor and justice.
Phantom Train. We die at the hands of the Warrior of Darkness, but due to the Echo AND Hydaelyn's intervention we get stuck in the train to the underworld. Great way to put a cutscene with our fallen friends too and to see some more of our beloved Edda.
What was the name of the dungeon you had to go through in FFXII to get to the home of the Viera? It was jungle of some sort, and you could either face a stupidly hard boss or fight through wave after wave of ridiculously hard enemies to get through it. I would love to see that in here, boss and all.
And the Viera, but that's a different matter entirely.
When/If they add Blue Mage I would like to see a dungeon that was like the Veldt zone from FFVI. Every time you enter the dungeon the mobs inside are always random!
Chaos shrine with that awesome music.
Lunatic Pandora
The Tower of Babel, though it would need a fairly long instance to do it justice.
I believe it was the Golmore Jungle. http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Golmore_Jungle
I for one would like to see something like Zanarkand from FFX, a dead metropolis filled with aetherial spirits in the forgotten outskirts of Garlemald.
I have no idea how they'd do either but something like Memoria (explain the history between Hydaelyn and Zodiark, the history of warriors of light and darkness etc, Allagan empire. Final battle would be a fight between warriors of light/darkness inside of the realm that Hydaelyn and Zodiark exist in.)
Or Ultimecia's Castle. And I really have no idea how they'd pull the "time compression" storyline off.
Kefka's Tower, as a 24-man dungeon. Each alliance sent down a different path and have to work together through slight puzzles and whatnot? Would be glorious.
Both are already areas designated in the game or referred to in the story, but, it seems there would be little to no reason to actually implement them as actual dungeons lore wise (the Ship Graveyard is part of the Isles of Umbra in Eastern La Noscea where you fight Siren's thralls during the 2.0 main story, and the Phantom Train is the name given to the very real railway built by the Garlean Empire that runs between Castrum Meridanium in Northern Thanalan and Castrum Centri in Mor Dhona - the term presumably came about due to it's secret military nature (viz a viz the real world tradition of naming secret/black ops missions or units 'ghost' or 'phantom' units) - part of CM is literally called the 'Phantom Train Depot' for this reason.)
So I don't see these areas ever being implemented as actual dungeons I'm afraid.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but, didn't the development team already state ages ago that they decided not to implement Forbidden Land Eureka into the game, and that the Labyrinth of the Ancients was the stand in? I'm pretty sure I read something about that which mentioned it (probably in a past 'Letter from the Producer LIVE' Q@A, but I'm not sure. If true, then sadly again that's pretty conclusive Eureka will never be implemented, with LotA being it's replacement.
This thread is meant to be fun and just a idea tossing post, not a debating in lore and why things can and can't be done. As long as the the dungeons is broken ship hulls and foggy they can call it whatever they want. There is no hard rule in the book that says the devs can't make a haunted forest dungeon with the final leg a haunted train. They used FFV's Library as a theme but changed the name.
Wouldn't mind seeing the Deep Sea Research Facility from FFVIII. Perhaps Garlean it up a bit near Limsa. Lots of enclosed rooms, with the feeling that you're constantly descending further and further toward the sea bed. Complete with a minigame where you spawn additional mobs by moving at the wrong time (light gradually turns on as a warning to counter latency).
Lunatic Pandora
Shinra Tower, complete with back stairway that takes 10 minutes to climb but lets you skip all of one pull.
THE MOON. THE F***ING MOON FROM FFIV. Lunar Subterrane full with a couple bosses that get in the way(i.e. White Dragon or Lunasaurs with a few mechanics thrown in), and make it chain into Lunar Core to fight Zeromus or the Warrior of Darkness.
Grotto all the way!

Lunatic Pandora
I won't let it go
A much as I love the FF franchise, I wish that from this point forth that all content that comes out is all original for once.
Fan service is alright, but it can get to a point where it is too much imo.
Not very often do I boldly disagree with posts, but the mmos should be a collaboration of the franchise, granted some new content, but save that for the single player games.
I spent most of my childhood imagining what some of the battles I've had throughout the ff series would be like outside of their respective turn based games. How psyched I was to see Cloud of Darkness from ff3 complete with the actual abilities she used in a new revamped action based fight. To fight through the library of ancients, complete with the same enemies and bosses. typhoon and ultros. More of that nostalgia please and thank you
