...that Square-Enix wasn't exaggerating when they said Heavensward was huge lol...

I mean, I'm not far in (just got it fixed late last night), but I can already tell. The thing is, the xp bar is a lot. I'm currently undecided if I want to continue taking up PLD and do my Heavensward quests as PLD, or stick with NIN as my first Lv60.

So many quests pop up each time I complete one. So many ways to go and things to do at the moment.

The lvl 51 to 60 is meant to be equal to leveling from 1 to 50 so best to choose which one you want to be done or main first since you'll need something to build your Tomes in lvl 60.

Welcome to Ishgard! :D Yeah, the expansion really lives up to the very meaning of the term expand - the new zones are huge and once you unlock flight in each one, there is just an amazing feeling just flying around on the back of a giant griffin or chocobo (or one of the other flying mounts ;)).

But yeah, take your time to really enjoy everything the expansion opens up. Levelling wise, the main scenario alone for the expansion should be able to take you to 60, but the sidequests are also worth doing (especially the ones that reward aether currents for flight in that area). Not to mention the story takes many turns and twists. ;)

One of the early moogle quests is called "Hide your Moogles" - that name should give you an idea what they're talking about. Do yourself a favor and concentrate on getting your aether currents first, only doing sidequests in that area if they're not out of the way, or have an aether current attached to them. You might have to google aether current quests in Churning Mists, tho, to know exactly which quests to do first (one of the aether current sidequests is gated behind another sidequest in the area). Being able to fly in Mists is a godsend for the rest of these quests - more so than other areas.

Honestly if you plan to take them both to 60, you should take your Nin to 60 first through the quests, then level your Pld through dungeons since it'll have instant queues over Nin.

Leveling 50 - 60 more than once is the biggest pain in the ass there is, especially for DPS.

I've only just finished clearing all the moogle quests in Churning Mists and I'm pretty sure it gave me a case of vertigo. Prepare yourself.

Just do both side by side. You'll reach points where you get left over quests when you hit a new level and can use them for exp on the other job.

Well, not quite. I found I needed to spam the available HW dungeons at least 2 or 3 times per level to advance to the next. The daily DF bonuses also helped.

I only did the Story and side quests to get to 60 on my main, I am grinding fates, leves and dungeons for my alts :)

I have a question for you and the other people I've seen say this. Were you caught up with the 2.5 story when HW started or did you have to play catchup? Because the MSQ and Side-quests for HW absolutely do not give you enough experience on their own to take you to 60 if you had already finished the MSQ before 3.0. You'll end up hitting a few walls where the next MSQ is a higher level than your current one, but you don't have any more available side quests. However, since the pre-3.0 lvl50 MSQs now grant a buttload of experience points, doing them after HW went live would have put you ahead of the exp curve meaning you feasibly could just quest your way to 60 depending on how far behind you had been.

Calling them quests is an undeserved compliment, imo. The moogle content was easily the most disappointing of the side quests in the expansion. At least the vast majority of it. There's some nice lore towards the end, but it takes forever to get there, and I'd imagine a lot of people won't bother unless they're starved for xp.

There seemed to be a general quality shift in side quest content from The Churning Mists onwards, actually. Western Coerth and The Forelands felt much tighter, and character focused. The little stories between each town, and how things play out as your intervene - it was good stuff. Then suddenly we're into bland shopping list territory. It's almost as if each area was written by entirely different teams.

Still, the improvement in the HW main story over the ARR campaign is leaps and folds, so I can hardly complain. If they keep future expansions on the same, character-focused narrative style, I'll be an incredibly happy subscriber for a loooong time to come. Felt just like playing a main line Final Fantasy game.

I was nearly up to date on 2.55, I only had the quests and cutscenes that take place after Steps by the time Heavensward released. By doing story quests and 2-3 roulettes a day, I stayed at a relevant level all the way to 59, then needed to run the Library around 3-4 times to level up for the level 60 "Heavensward" quest. That's in my experience, your mileage may vary on how quickly you burn through the quests, which could mean less dailies, and how many side quests you pick up for gear.

Wow... HW is designed to be as long as ARR?? ..Haha...

Scrapper is ~ 660 days old, and still working on 2.x stuff. No HW yet. Not even close. It'll still be a long while yet before I'm allowed into Ishgard. By what you say, OP, it'll give me about another 2 years worth of content to do and explore. :)

moggles are not bad.

Kan-E-Senna enjoyed it to do gardening work for them.

Personally, I was completely up to date when HW came out. I tackled the trial roulette and leveling roulette daily, did all the side quests I came across and MSQ. I would do some fates as I came across them, and I hit 60 about halfway through Azys Lla. The only dungeon I did more than once was The Vault. And it wasn't out of necessity, but I ran it again with an FC mate. All other dungeons and trials in HW were only completed once. I also didn't do any side quests in Azys Lla as I didn't need them to hit 60. Had food up 100% of the time and heat of the battle, plus I still have rested xp. So it's definitely feasible to get to 60 without grinding anything.
