I think uniqueness in gear. Gear with special stats or abilities for certain jobs. I loved how you could mix and match gear to make your job amazing.
The original Drk AF.
Red Mage.
Samurai.
Dynamis
Limbus
Einherjar
Nyzul Isle
Salvage
The armors with set bonuses would be dope! Also more horizontal options. I know its a "vertical" game but I just hate that it produces carbon copies as everyone is going for the same gear etc.
Dancer

Adventuring Fellows.
Ranger.
A nyzul isle type area could go a long way.
It sounds like the proving grounds could a good place for either pankration or a battle arena.
And path companions could come back with a expanded fellow system.(or something better)
I would say more stuff like sky and sea for sure, where there are different paths to take and different objectives to unlock different bosses, to get different loot. I'm not saying Alexander is bad because i kind of like the Coliseum style fight, but having that as the only option is bad.
Also something like Besieged, where it announces the attack server wide and everyone rallies to defend. Hell make that the way to get esoterics instead of the mind-numbing dungeons. But we won't get anything from ffxi, cuz unfortunately this WoW system is what sells :(
being able to ride airships instead of cutscences

I'd like to see some more of the armor set designs remastered and brought over.
For example, Morrigan armor from Salvage could be a Caster set, the "Blessed" and "Noble's" attire for WHM reprising as Healer sets, and they could fit in the green abjuration "Dalmatica/Zenith" gear in there somewhere.
So this is a theme park MMO.
That was a sandbox MMO.
The two are not compatible and Devs already stated much of the nostalgic content from FFXI will not be coming back, because they are actively trying a new approach.
The servers are still up for FFXI, should you choose.
Race names.

Way to miss the point. People do not want XIV to turn into XI, but there were some things XI did right that, if brought over and adapted to XIV's sensibilities would be awesome. A nyzul isle type of dungeon, for example, would amazing for 4 man groups to work for. Or nightmare versions of Ul'Dah, Gridania, and Limsa would also be fun for large groups(Dynamis).
Dancer is on the top of my list for next healer. By the Goddess, yes please. Oh, and some of the classic armor designs would be neat, we've had a couple already, and XIV has brought several iconic sets from past games over. WAR's XI set would be awesome, ignoring the total impracticality of it lol.
...the thought of Male Roe DNC healers....oh that just has to happen!
.
Respectfully, I didn't miss the point. You may have missed it back in 2013 when ARR went live, and when the devs answered many questions about content relating to FFXI that players were asking to see.
They clearly said, many of the elements you wish to see, cannot work in the theme park MMO design and furthermore, they want to make a unique, different game, that doesn't fall back on design elements of FFXI or leverage content from them onto FFXIV. They are aware a majority of their subscribers do not want older, gated group content and gamers today are more apt to play shorter sessions and want more solo options. They see mobile gaming as a giant threat because of this.
We will probably see some common Jobs, which are all adopted from the FF tactics storyline (just like dancer).
Ballista would be welcome here. The open world in 14 is a bit dead.
It could trigger like a FATE rather than zone-wide PvP
Its an easy way to breathe life into dead zones without having to create new assets etc.
I would bring Campaign and Besieged back. I mean, they are essentially just fates.. but they felt a great deal different. They were more enjoyable because of the setting. You felt like you were in an actual war, not just some pest clean up crew.
I would bring over the personal moogle assistant. I miss making him spin in an endless circle (though I don't miss having to go to him to change jobs).
- Trust System
- Dancer
- Red Mage
- Going back in the past
- Conquest
- Chocobo Hatching
the LS system.
A system similiar to their Trust system. Campaign/Besieged after going back to FFXI I feel like those 3 things still hold up
Lmfao wow. Except some things could be brought over. Like armour designs. And effects that we've already seen in XIV.
I'd like to see a consumable that could turn us into monsters. The costume foods. The game has clearly done this already and thus would not be beyond the dev's capabilities.
I thought of another thing to add, adventuring fellow.
Things from FFXI that could work in FFXIV:
1) Conquest. Would help to keep zones relevant/alive so people aren't just sitting in towns waiting for queues.
2) Besieged. This was actually quite fun when it occurred in ToAU. A couple/few times a day the beastment gather to attack a major town. Would go great to introduce with Conquest. Story-wise, the beastmen are finally gathering enough numbers to rise up and strike back at the nations that have abused them so much.
3) BCNMs. These are similar to Treasure maps, but you could make them tougher and require a party.
I'm not sure if Dynamis and the other endgame areas would work as well in FFXIV as they did in FFXI. I think it's worth a try though. They already have things like the EX primals and Alex Savage that can't be entered with Duty Finder... at least not until the next major update since they were released. So more Party Finder/Static/FC-oriented content could be quite beneficial. Though if they did that, they would probably have to make a "mini" version as well for more casual players.
That's been one of the huge selling points for FFXIV is that casual players aren't completely locked out of things like they were in FFXI. That's also why they couldn't simply port over a lot endgame from FFXI, because it was all gated behind party content that could be fairly hardcore.
The thing that dragged me back to XI, Red Mage.
A puppet master that doesn't suck would be fun.
That's all I can think of though, I'd really prefer for XIV to carve its own identity. The less it takes from XI, the better.

I'd have liked to seen Beastmaster here in XIV, and Dragon for the Dragoon, just not the same without it :P Lets face it XIV's dragoons are more like simple lancers :P
Also tanking ability ninjas had in XI would been awesome too :) combining the jobs, XIV does'nt do this as well.
