Titles for defeating notorious monsters.

I know Yoshida said at one point he'd like to introduce titles into the game, so I thought I'd see what you guys wanted to see for certain in game actions.

Here is a list I've come up with for vanquishing the various notorious monsters:

Bardi – Bardi Basher

Quickfingers – Kokoroon Killer

Daddy Longlegs – Spider Squasher

Cactuar Jack – Pincushion

Nest Commander – Antling Incinerator

Pyrausta – Lizard Licker

Bomb Baron – Bomb Diffuser

Unknown Soldier – Bringer of Peace

Barometz – Weed Plucker

Slipper Sykes – Slug Slayer

Gluttonous Gertrude – Gertrude Griever

Old-Six Arms – Crab Crusher

Alux – Imp Instigator

Prince of Pestilence - Gnatswatter

Sirocco – Seasoned Hunter

Phaia – Boar Roaster

Jackanapes – Opo-Opo Oppressor

Queen Bolete – Fungus Fumigator

Downy Dusntan – Sheep Shearer

Spitfire – Spriggan Scolder

Dodore – Dodore Devastaor

Great Buffalo – Buffalo Hunter

Haughtpox Bloatbelly – Belly Buster

Elder Mosshorn – Mosshorn Mauler

Anyone got any other suggestions? Not necessarily just for killing NMs either, if you have a title suggestion for completing a certain quest or something let's hear it.

Those are good achievement names if nothing else.

How about titles for killing x amount of NM in the game?
And I don't mean duplicates I mean different ones, so one for killing your first then maybe one for killing 5 different ones etc.

Can't see it happening anytime soon but would be nice.
But for now I'm happy with the achievements in your lodestone history xD

It was rumored at some time or another that titles would directly relate to achievements earned, so perhaps they intend to add this in the next update which reportedly will consist of achievement refining.

I wonder what happened to the title system Tanaka talked about so many months back. May be moot now since we get jobs, but still. :rolleyes:

Yeah i would like the title system back.

Titles in FFXI were given out as follows;
-Killing HNM
-Killing special NMs
-Killing mission bosses
-Killing Storyline bosses
-Killing Final boss in a content
-Doing x amount of quest with different tiers as you progress
-NOT doing any quest for certain amount of time
-Finishing Advanced Job quest
-Obtaining Final Artifact for the job
-Obtaining Final Weaponskill for the Job
-Breaking Level cap Limits

and many others that don't come to mind.

I'm looking forward to the achievements system as they said titles would be a reward. We haven't heard of this in a while, but I for one am excited for this. I hope they let us set which title we want to go by :)

I feel as if we haven't plumbed the depths of titles quite just yet.

Following the Ifrit suggestion (Hellfire Hero) here are a couple more that could be for defeating primals.

Leviathan - Tidal Wave Surfer

Shiva - Diamond Dust Collector

Titan - Quake Slaker

Garuda - Wind Walker

Ramuh - Lightning Rod

Feel free to add more, or add suggestions for other ways of obtaining titles and what they would be.

Then there's the 3 beastmen NMs, but I'm having trouble coming up with anything...

The problem with that is they are going to keep adding NMs to the game, so they would have to change when you get the title every patch, which makes it a more difficult task for someone to achieve that joins the game later compared to someone who would get it with the current amount of NMs. Does that make sense?

Something like Esthar's suggestion of tiered titles for amount of NMs killed could work in that regard though, i.e. 5 NMs equals "Notorious Monster Slayer," 10 NMs equals "Notorious Monster Slaughterer," and so forth.

I'm torn as to whether or not I'm happy the OP is continuing the Lalafell tradition of ridiculous amounts of alliteration. >_>

Other than that, though, it'd be nice, especially if it comes alongside being able to hide our own names.

Any other suggestions?
