I remember about a year ago they stated that all recipes you had been rewarded from a quest, or ones you had created, would be permanently saved (not just the last 8 or whatever it is now). Since then, I haven't heard anything indicating that this is still a plan, though it would be really handy and provide something to do in the meantime while content is being added to the game. Am I overlooking something, or have they scrapped this idea entirely?

Yeah what you said was never actually stated. I think it was more implication from hopeful players. Or else you would have threads with 150+ replies about how they promised us this function.

I'm pretty sure Yoshida mentioned a real recipe book in one of his letters/ interviews. I think it was low on priorities. Shame. :(

it was stated, the last 5 thing was supposed to be a short term solution until they had it ready, but i havent heard anything about it for a long time so its prolly on permanent haitus

I believe a dev post in Reinheart's translation thread talked about them adding an NPC that either gave you recipes or remembered recipes for you, presumably to put them in your "last 8" list or whatever number it is at the moment. No mention of when they would be implemented, though.

In XI I had a hand written notebook of all the things I'd need because I could never get windower to work. ): At least we have Yellow Gremlin and a windowed option. I'm never crafting 24/7 so it's nice to pop up a website for the recipe and to see that and the NPCs that sell things.
